Bethesda and all the other big studios keep hiring people who don't play video games to make video games.

Bethesda keeps cheaping out by using staffers instead of seeking talented writers for story and dialogue.

I do not really think that is the issue either. It is the big studios completely disregarding what anyone but shareholder says. Or in a better term. Greed and Cluelessness.
If not that? It is a corporate structure that kills any talent or art/creativity. To many cooks in the kitchen. To many that stays around are not there for the games. It is work.
If everything becomes a mess of meetings and seeking approval of higher-ups for everything? And there are enough workplace politicians there to not actually work? But complain?
It seems like you either have a party-house of... what was it called? Anyways... Actual abuse and things towards woman. Or, you get into a position of nothing but complaining.
Then crunch. Or the modern variant of DEI.
If one go back into early video game history? It was allot of people without any idea what a video game really was. But the ones in charge did. And hired talented people on merits of their craft. Music/voice/art. Everything really. The issue is not that Bethesda hired a janitor without a single idea how to make a game... It might be that hiring people not there to do the job, but instead play in the office as either endless meetings, or fanboys? What where the term used to call out the insanity of drugs and real assault and mistreatment of one gender? Bio-wear Magic! Ubisoft and whatever else. The issues of AAA studios did not start a year ago. It has been going on for over 10 years. Nothing is really new. Only first now is the pre-orders finally stopping. It is management and politics. Greed and more greed. It is simply that. Power. Abuse. A fun businesses.

That $90 WoW mount is exactly why I'll never return to the game. Fuck greedy ass corporations & the idiot gamers who encourage these practices.
*Edit:* The amount of people responding "jUsT bUy iT wITh gOlD" are missing the point entirely.
If you're buying this mount with gold that means SOMEONE is spending money on bonds & blizzard is going to correlate that increase in bond sales with Brutosaurs sold, like they did with the first Brutosaur, that's why we got this one & much like the first its ALSO time limited to prey on FOMO.
Just because you personally didn't spend a single penny doesn't mean you're not part of the problem. Ask yourself: "Do I want to spend my entire time playing WoW just farming gold & chasing FOMO items?" Because that's what's going to happen if you continue to encouraging this type of behavior.

Most of my gaming life the closest thing to that was having cooperative play with 2 people or 3 or 4. But that’s a far cry from playing an MMO with hundreds of random strangers playing. So I guess I’m old fashioned but I like to play solo and often I don’t even like NPC companions lol. Most companies eventually get bought out by massive corporations that initially promise not to change them, but they always do. This trend spans across most industries today, leaving few independents behind. If a successful independent company emerges, giants like Microsoft quickly swoop in and acquire it. 4:44 As a Canadian, a $60 game is already an $80 game. A deluxe version is usually $100 or more to us. When the price is closer to $100 then $50, you tend to question even more if a game is worth your time and money, especially if there are 'pay to win' BS in it. Unless you're a content creator or someone with a lot of money to waste on entertainment, you tend to be more picky on what you buy. And I'm sure when a $60 US base game becomes an $70 or $80 US base game, especially if it's to have a game with 'less micro-transactions', this mindset will become more commonplace.
Same goes to micro-transactions. If it's a mobile game, prices are usually shown in US until you click to pay, which is when you see the CAD price. Then you're rethinking if you want to pay an extra $1.50, $3, $5, $8, $11 for the same thing. I'm always looking at prices and comparing them to US prices to decide if I really want this fake game money or cosmetic.

If I’ve said this once, I’ve said it 1000 times….. the key here is always priorities.
Everything else is just static noise .
Complacency from consumers feeds the wrong priorities .
And desire for authenticity feeds the right priorities .
It’s the difference between narcissistic, entitled, spoiled, insecure, self obsessed, attention seekers, pushing agendas, while fixated on the only priority they care about which is themselves and irrelevant trending superficialities ……
    AND
Quite simply actual creative artist/gamers creating games for gamers we are the only priority is authentic escape, Aka, the literal purpose, and definition of entertainment .
There’s a lot of static areas you can get swept up in and fixated on with idealistic causes of good and bad but it’s all just window dressing .
The number one thing that matters Ultimately is priority. Because your priority dictates if there is authenticity or if there isn’t.
And if you work in the entertainment industry in a game company, and your purpose is to provide games then your number one priority, your only priority should be that of appealing escape. As long as you have that nailed down as your core focus for everything then you will have authenticity with what is created.
And personally, I think the age of complacency from consumers for the past decade or so is finally coming to an end.
Because I know for myself, the only thing I’m interested in now in my entertainment… Is authenticity . Everything else , typically stemming from narcissistic self obsessed attention seekers, can fck off .

It also means if you do want to play with anyone else you know, you each need to go out and buy the hardware, and the software separately. That's the whole game. Divide, control, abuse.

"I'll flank the left with my cavalry" became "I'll **** the left **** my ****" or some nonsense. There was also a long like 3-4 second delay before the message sent, as the AI obviously moderated it before it was sent.

Also, this mentality of "Let modders Fix it" is no longer funny, maybe it was... back in 2006 or even in 2011, but a AAA Studio expecting their community to just laugh and fix their bugs in recent years is quite INSULTING.
I still remember when Alexander Blade noticed that the OG Skyrim didn't had any compiler optimizations so he released a tiny mod through SKSE that nearly gained 50% performance improvement, which forced Bethesda to release an official patch with the same compiler optimizations. Their engine is so ancient and so patched up that they probably think it's best to just disable compiler optimizations in order to maintain some level of Stability, GOSH.
That was INSANELY embarassing for them, but it was recenlty noticed that Fallout3 and New Vegas neither had compiler optimizations enabled, and again, through a tiny mod using NVSE the performance skyrockets. And i bet if we go back and check Oblivion and Morrowind the same probably applies. How earth is a Game Dev worth 7 Billions "Forget" to to implement basic stuff that literally takes 1 click at compiling their code?
Their programming/coding skills is laughable, sometimes i feel Bethesda has the skill of a tiny indie Dev with a couple released prototype/demos.

B breaks everything you grind for on their scoreboard and/OR they put it up for sale in the Atom Shop or in one of the vendors the next season or two. They break the most valuable prize on the last page of the scoreboard. Why should be grind for broken over and over??? The carbine was a huge grind chasing cows in an endless loop. They broke the ability to use VATS with the carbine.
What they don't outright break so you can't use it like the brick oven, they nerf it in the name of some vague "future balance goal". The goal of the nerf is to keep you grinding to put back what they took away with some new mod box or perk card adjustment.
They gave us contextual ammo drops then are giving us bullet sponge enemies. Hard pass.
They are taking away legendary weapon drops but you can now spend endless hours grinding their raids to win idiotic mod boxes that newbies have no hope of attaining. The in game economy is totally screwed up. Sellers want the cap max for the most coveted mods no one can afford.
They never fix anything that is important to the player like better camp defenses. Instead of making turrets more effective, they give us a repair bot that we don't have the camp budget for.

The internet was the WORST thing to happen to gaming. Before the internet, games shipped FINISHED.

love the clip, as alwaysa nice prspective. i loved a lot of games from 2003 to 2007,a lot if simple yet fun coop games, then that died out. splinter cell chaos theory, lost planet, dishonored, bioshock infinite, prey, those games were all fun.i miss those kinds of games.

"These should be DLC not paid mods".... DLC *is* paid mods.
Diablo didn't sell a $70 mount. It was part of a pack that included mtx currency.

i just dont understand why people who know this will still buy their products
nothing wrong with not caring or being ignorant and just wanting to play a game and even enjoying it if others don’t
but to do something you know is not going to make you happy, it confuses me, i havent touched Bethesda since like 2016

These big games have big budgets for marketing. If the game is bad they are gonna sell it hard, if its good will do the same. Pr is an effective tool on the masses.

Regardinh "Sales Expectations" for HiFi Rush - maybe they'd have sold more copies if it wasn'tn shadow dropped on Gamepass?
It's the same with streaming services or studios owning streaming services and releasing movies in cinema - if I can already play/ see it at no additional cost, why shouold I pay extra?
