Back roads brake lights light up back home. Calm, cold, or windy nights we still drive. Eyes open wide as space. Slide across the interstate. Missing exits, missing people, recognizing geometric shapes. We always stay out late. I have this theory that waking up in a car means that you're still dreaming. So if you ever change your mind and decide that it might be worth the drive, then just drive. So we just drive, careless and full of smiles while the radio plays on the way to some basement. We do it for the sentiment. It started as a self-asserted promise. And now the moon hangs low over us as we travel to some new destination. I will be okay. Everything.
I listened to this song the day my first girlfriend and I got back together. Also the same day I "graduated" middle school. One of the best days I can remember. I come here every so often to remember the good ol' days. Since that day (its been a while) Everything has gone down hill. My entire life has. I come here hoping maybe this song will bring happiness again. Thank you for such a great song.
I absolutely love the contrast in the way their voices sound from 00:42 to 00:52 might be kinda weird but I especially like the way at 00:49 the voice sounds nasally

Emo is short for emotive hardcore. They're the same things. There IS a style that a lot of people call emo nowadays, but in actuality it has *nothing* to do with emo. Sunny Day Real Estate was an emo band, but in a different context as Rites of Spring, Embrace, Minor Threat, etc. I suggest you research the genre if you're interested.
For me, as a postrocker, this would be the real gretzky if they just kept it instrumental. It would be up there with EITS. Please give us those versions.
Emo = emotive hardcore, not emotional. It was originally a subgenre of hardcore punk and pioneered by Rites of Spring in the late 80s. Bands like Minor Threat, Fugazi, Saetia, pg. 99, Orchid, City of Caterpillar, and Sunny Day Real Estate were prominent emo bands.
The only actual emo band you mentioned is Sunny Day Real Estate. The rest are either hardcore (Minor Threat), post-hardcore (Fugazi) or screamo (Saetia, pg. 99, Orchid, City of Caterpillar). There's subtle differences between all of them, but they're pretty much in the same genealogy.
Emo was never a genre and it never will be. Its a style in lyrics, its expressive and confessional lyrics hence forth the emo title, emo is short for emotional. Its no genre, it doesnt reflect in the actual music's sounds in the least bit, only the lyrics.
yah emotive hardcore is a genre, but emo isnt, theres a big difference between the 2 Though i dont think sunny day real estate counts as emotive hardcore, they are more just experimental alternative rock

@walkingthesaurus527 this music is far to great for the standard music listener. This music can ,sadly, never become mainstream.

I like this a lot. Not that it matters, but I am going to guess that this band is the result of some kids who used to play loud punk getting older?
