    I rode the "Imperator" on its second stint in the German fair circuit. I actually drove halfway across the county just to get the chance :D They are amazing.
    I can also say that I std in front of the one at SFSL, but unfortunately when I visited the park in 2018, the ride was closed for some major maintenance. :-(

    I was lucky to ride Evolution a few times when it came 2 or 3 years straight to Miami Youth Fair in early 2000's. I believe the one that had the accident in Jacksonville was supposed to come to Miami after the Jacksonville fair concluded, I remember after hearing about the accident I never saw it again at Miami Youth Fair. It definitely was a impressive, massive & fun ride, I hope to see it again because I will ride it several times since don't know how long it will be around.

    I rode both versions - Imperator on German fairs (I also often saw Evolution, which is the model now at Six Flags, in the early 90s on German fairs, but was too young to ride) and the Fabbri version. You really cannot compare these two - the Fabbri rides very uncomfortable and is not a quality ride, whilst the Nauta Bussink version is HUGE in comparison, much more comfortable and overall the more quality ride.

    • @christianlewis6789
      @christianlewis6789 2 года назад

      Not surprising, it seems original manufacturer's versions of flat rides do better (i.e. scramblers as opposed to sizzlers). Would you agree to the comparison to an enterprise type?

  • @Coyotek4

    Casino Pier at Seaside Heights NJ had a Fabbri model 'Evolution', which I was able to ride for the brief period that it was there. That one made three revolutions: on the first two, you'd face the ground while going over the top, and on the third (with sirens going off), you'd be upside-down as you went over. It was a lot of fun, though not as fast as the SF-StL one seems to go.
    One of my biggest ride-oriented disappointments was that, despite me making numerous trips to SFGA while 'Evolution' was there, it was never running while I was at the park. I never got the chance to go on that one, not even once. And at least to me, it looks like more fun.
    EDIT: I honestly thought there was more accidents involving this ride, but when I searched for videos on YT, the ones I found (most notably one from a theme park in India) involved a ride that looked somewhat similar, but NOT an actual 'Evolution' ride.

    The giant Evolution was actually a combined effort with 2 companies. Bailey park attractions and Nauta Bussink. So Nauta Bussink and Bailey were the creators. I think Vekoma rides marketed it thru one of the old brochures I had. They were probably the broker for the attraction. The one at St Louis had a huge overhaul done which took over a year to complete. I heard it received bralnd newll built gondolas supplied by Vekoma. Or at least they supplied the restraints. It is a amazing ride even to just watch! Very strange ride experience which is hard to describe. But very unique.

  • @AlphaFlight

    I rode the Excalibur. And it was interesting.

    The safety inspection company TUV said to Van Der Most: If you want to build this ride in Rotterdam, you need to rebuild it from scratch cause in this state it doesn't meet our safety standards. That is why Van der Most could not build this ride, with the knowledge it would not get a permit to operate in the first place by the safety inspectors. So would you spend the money on a ride knowing the safety inspector says no to it ever being operational?

    I think the one in the US was a Fabri. It was operated by Ray Cammack Shows (Arizona) Due to CV-19 The "last" time it was out was in Houston, Texas nearly 1 year ago. Sadly Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is also cancelled for 2021. I personally have been part of Rodeo for 24 seasons @ a nearby restaurant. I served the "carnys" that set up the rides.
