I'm not really surprised. Quality trumps your age if you're exposed to it. You just can't deny it good especially with what passes for music now a days.
This was my brother Michael's favorite song. We used to tear up the back roads in his '67 Mustang. I can't tell you how long ago he died because it always feels like yesterday, but ever since then, whenever we have a get-together, and no matter the station we're listening to, this song will come on at some point ~ and everyone knows that it's Michael, joining the party.
@lottielane2486 Elderly we may be but that's just the outside Our spirits are young forever inside With music and singers and musicians thus We can throw "modern music" under a bus!!
Hay Molly boy, I am 78 and really enjoy your responses to our music. Remember, we did not have video games or portable phones, so all we did was listen to the music on the radio and it was a great time to be a kid. Thanks for helping me (and others) Remember a little! A now constant viewer ....
Hollies began in Manchester in the early 60's and like a lot of bands from that era, they initially favoured pop more than what we think of as classic rock. As the band members changed their sound became broader and more interesting. One of their founding members was Graham Nash, who later helped start Crosby, Stills and Nash (and later Neil Young).
Hi Molly Boy, The Hollies were originally a mega pop band in the sixties, with a string of hits not that far removed from The Beatles. You definitely need to listen to some of their earlier songs, from a time when songwriters actually made an effort to tell a story. "Bus Stop," "Carrie Anne," "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother," and "The Air That I Breathe," to name just a few.👍
Don’t listen with the expectation to love everything but to simply learn the true path of where music has been. I don’t love everything you react to but I enjoy being part of your journey. You gotta take it all in if you’re a student of the history of music.
🔥🔥🔥I'm really looking forward to this. My dad loved this song and it made to our jukebox in the family room. My dad had the best taste in music.RIP Dad, dedicating this one to you. 💔
I sat in our family car with my little cassette recorder trying to record this when it came on the radio. After many tries and lots of time sitting by the radio trying, I finally got a full recording of it. I didn’t have much money back then to spend on buying music and this was my favorite song at that time. That’s how old I am. Great reaction. Also Air That I Breathe is beautiful too. 🙂💙
Oh, now you've done it. The Hollies are incredible. More, please!! He Ain't Heavy, Bus Stop, The Air That I Breathe - all masterpieces. You will LOVE these tracks. Gorgeous arrangements, lush harmonies, just timeless stuff.
One of my favorites from the Hollies. Always fun watching you react, the look on your face takes me back to when I heard this first. Your show is like a music time machine.
Music is so much more enjoyable when you can share it with people like you. These reactions make my night! This song was the coolest song around when it came out. Always on the radio.
I’m 68, and must say, people my age just don’t turn away from a Hollies song. Agree «He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother» (studio), should be your next Hollies adventure. Great work, young man.
This was 1972, MollyBoy! The music was rockin back then, and it’s rockin again with your genuine reaction. I’m so impressed with your willingness to hear tunes from so long ago. Cheers, with respect from San Francisco Kathie. 🎶🎸
OMG! I’m smiling ear to ear! One of my favorite all-time tunes(but I have many)! It’s from 1972 - released as a single! I thought it was older. I knew you’d like it! Kinda has a CCR or swampy vibe, but I believe The Hollies are from the UK. Thanks for reacting to this feel-good tune AND for making me smile and feel happy on what has otherwise been a rough day!🫠
Our parents said that we would outgrow this music as we got older. We said, no, we would not; we would pass it along to our grandchildren. It is so much fun watching you enjoy it.
What a great way to end the week with such a fun song. Graham Nash from Crosby Stills Nash and Young was in this band prior to CSNY. Glad you enjoyed it!!
MollyBoy I ABSOLUTELY LOVED watching you groove to this song!!! YOU Looked SOOO HAPPY!!!😃❤❤❤ Thank you I had a smile from ear to ear watching you move your head from side to side smiling, you totally getting into it!! I grew up listening to this song on the radio 😄❤
I love that build up at the beginning, and then they get the punchy rhythm guitar going with the hand claps, and you know for sure the audience would be clapping along with that, and boy when he gives that yell and that heavy heavy bottom-end (for the time) bass guitar comes in, it lands with a heavy boom and then it's off to the races with that slow-pumping 1-5 pattern I love that lead vocal drenched in reverb as well. ❤️
When I first got an electric guitar back in 1978, I accidentally strummed the beginning lick of this song but I didn't know what it was. I called up my local radio DJ, played it over the phone and he told me that it was Long Cool Woman by the Hollies. Always been a favorite of mine. Great to see you grooving to this.
New Subscriber. Your great sincere reactions are the best. I'd like to throw a few suggestions out with no expectations either that they'll be played or haven't yet been heard. But these are powerful: Whitesnake "Still of the night" Foreigner "Urgent" The Cult "She sells sanctuary" The Smiths "How soon is now"
I was so excited that you were reacting to this song. I was like oh my goodness he’s finally listening to this. I love that song. It’s one of my favorites and the story is so good.
I'm so, so glad you listened to this!! One of my very favorite songs ever. I would listen to this a few times in a row because it's so excellent. Loved watching your reaction...I was hoping you'd like it!
I saw the Hollies live at the Guildford Odeon when I was 12yrs! The headline band was the Rolling Stones. It was an amazing lineup and so exciting. I got in as my uncle knew the road manager for The Stones 😊
Glad to see you enjoying The Hollies. They have a sweet sound. Watching you start to smile bigger and bigger throughout the song is really fun. Keep listening, my friend.
There r many great British bands that would b fun rabbit holes to go down ur reviews pay such attention to detail I enjoy ur accent so keep on waffling 🤗💖
They're really a great group from the late 60s into the 70s and I absolutely loved this song when I was in grade school and first heard it. And I still love it today. It's hilarious because a lot of people back then confused it with Creedence Clearwater Revival, lol.
I am old enough to be your Nana and I absolutely agree with every positive comment made about you. You are my go to for music reaction. Keep up the amazing work!
The Hollies are great. "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" and "The Air That I Breathe" are my two favorites.
You have good taste in old rocknroll
yes yes its a MUST
Please do He ain’t Heavy he’s my brother, Oh man
‘He ain’t heavy’ is such a soul stirring song!
Definitely!!
I am 73 and dancing crazily in my livingroom to this song!
Music keeps me young!
I'm 73 and trying to dance in my living room, but I knocked over my beer!! 😅 Love the Hollies ✌️
@@Jack96993Get some better fitting slippers, Jack.!😅❤❤°
@@Jack96993 Oh no! I hope the beer is okay!
@rhondapease8516 Plenty where that came from 🤪
Same age here. Music makes me feel great sister.
I'm 67 years old. It blows me away that someone your age consistently appreciates music I grew up with.
It plays (not pays) to be rediscovered. Or waffled about.(:
I agree! Thanks to reacters like MollyBoy I have been reintroduced to music of my youth (68 here)
I'm not really surprised. Quality trumps your age if you're exposed to it. You just can't deny it good especially with what passes for music now a days.
Can't think of anything done in the last 30 years can touch the music of the 60's
You are definitely an old soul in a young body, so happy to see a young person enjoy what us old hippies grew up on 🎸🎶🤘
I was thinking the same thing! Love watching his reaction❤
Recorded in 1971. I like when you start listening, a grin starts to spread across your face and grows into a full smile.
The year I was born my man!

Heck yeah, let’s go 200,000 , us older people are on your side, Thank you again 😊
Yep. This is a channel dedicated to the elderly, at last. No doubt. 😅❤

@brigidsing96 I know. As an aside, folk who've had NDE,S Near Death Experiences, say no one in heaven looks older than 35. I believe it. ❤❤😊

From the Hollies: You need to hear He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother. One of the most moving songs ever written.
Absolutely
I lived by that mono for a long time, but people will hurt you also
Unfortunately not penned by them
@@prog2303 But a great song nonetheless. And though it's been covered by many artists, The Hollies version is my favorite.
You definitely need to hear He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, but you also need to hear the background story in order to understand it fully.
This song has never gotten old. 50 years on, still makes us stop and listen.
A radio staple from the 70's! "The Air That I Breathe" is an excellent demonstration of their 3-part harmonies. Super Lush!!
LOL ... 5-part harmonies? There were only 3 singers, genius.
@@manwithumbrella Missed keystroke. Thanks for the compliment!

nash salford lad
Ya but this is from 1972 Baby
As I call them - CSN and Sometimes Y
It was Crosby, Stills, and Nash was added on. Three part harmony was born at Cass Elliott's (The Mamas and The Papas) house, the rest is history. 💕
We were so very fortunate to have a huge variety of great music in our lifetime! WOW!
you give me hope that quality music never dies
I wish more your age would feel this way with music

"Bus Stop" is one of their earlier hits that is a personal favourite of mine... such great story telling!
One of the best bands to come out of the 60's. Graham Nash from the band became crosby stills and nash.
His harmonies are to die for

Whitesnake "Still of the night"
Foreigner "Urgent"

For 40 years or so I thought this song was from CCR I was blown away when I found out it was the hollies ✌️& ❤️
They do have a very similar CCR vibe.
@wildrose4411 definitely with this one ✌️
CCR sued them for this song. They said the Hollies "stole their sound".
@@armorer94 Really? I never heard that before 🤔

Love this, then & now. Great reaction.
That entire album is fantastic. I listen to it, beginning to end, at least a few times a year.
The Hollies were big, particularly in the 1960s. I was lucky enough to see them live a couple of times. A great group.
