love that they went the extra mile and made it live action/CGI, not just cgi
That's live action
@@SquishyminerMrkll what about the handy man robot? Or paratroopers?
@@iverkjellkken6569 oh, I thought you meant it was solely cgi

And now we actually have live action!
Even now, years later, this has to be one of the most powerful and emotional intros to a game, ever. I will forever love this
I remember seeing it for the first time when the game first came out and I was just feeling chills. The intro with ww2 was woah moment and the Chinese troopers in Alaska reminded me of fallout 3 . Too bad there haven’t been many intros like this in a while. Still one of the best. It’s gotta be made into a movie some day
Even after the countless times I've played this game, this opening intro still gives me the chills, such a powerful opening
That was, quite honestly, one of the best introductions to a game, period.
+ProfOmnom Holy cow, it sure is!
Agreed.
+ProfOmnom No Ron Perlman and therefore 0/10, entire game ruined.
I kid, its freaking amazing and I wonder if those combat armor and power armor suits were real props or CG.
+JounLord1 The combat suits are probably props, the Power armor is likely CG.
+ProfOmnom I get chills on my back whenever I see this intro. It somehow feels like a warning, that it could happen to our world as well. Indeed, one of the best gameplay intro to date.
did anyone else notice this is the speech he was supposed to give the day the bombs fell?
oh ... YES. RIGHT!!!
Yeah, it's actually him going over his lines in the mirror
Thats very clever i didn't notice that.
+MrSmilesCam If you go to a certain military post, you can actually visit the veterans hall that Nate was supposed to attend, and if you activate a microphone there, Nate/Nora will say War never changes as a reference.
I seriously cannot believe it took me this long to realize that.
Man, that gave me chills.
+Kieren Denison on me too man.
+Kieren Denison Cute cat on your pic :D
The same with we!! So glad it is here! Fallout 4 hype:)

That was a very powerful intro.
it could be better if was narrated by ron perlman. but we cant have everything rigth?
+Vapes Store guy
While I do miss having the traditional narrator as well, I do think Brian T. Delaney knocked it out of the park with his delivery in this intro. I wish they didn't show the wife's picture though. That and I really dislike how he repeats the phrase "War, war never changes" once they show him in the bathroom. It didn't need to be repeated, especially after it was delivered so well in this cinematic sequence. Just my thoughts.
Yeah, the way he said "War...War never changes" sounded a bit cheesy to me if that makes sense.
@@XDapologist it was well made.

+spurs4lyf2006 "Wail, for the day of the Lord is near; as destruction from the Almighty it will come! Therefore all hands will be feeble, and every human heart will melt. They will be dismayed: pangs and agony will seize them; they will be in anguish like a woman in labor. They will look aghast at one another; their faces will be aflame. Behold, the day of the Lord comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger, to make the land a desolation and to destroy its sinners from it. For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be dark at its rising, and the moon will not shed its light. ..."

Yep, at a time when Armageddon is never off the front pages.

And now whit this just about to happen with China and Iran very close to attack the US
Same boat, man.
Or daughter.
It’s just the power in that speech that can really make you understand that peace is something very hard to achieve
Almost 7 years later and this intro still gives me chills .
1:42 they filmed this part in a warehouse in San Pedro, California. My grandpa worked in the warehouse in the back far left. I was TRIPPIN OUT when I saw it when I played it for the first time.
as a soldier, this intro was very emotional for me
gizmoxl+ God bless the military!
Thanks for your service m8
Six years later, how are you doing? Have you retired or are you still out there with us?
As a Marine, this hit me hard too. I was in over a decade ago. When the war in Ukraine started, I watched this I don't even know how many times. At the time I was dating a woman with her really young son. I questioned what impact the war would have, if NATO and the US would get involved. If we did, I knew I'd go back, I'd give up everything I had for myself to go and fight even after I had made a life for myself at the time. Even now, after that lovely lady and I have separated, I'd still go and fight to make sure her and her son grew old in this world. I'd do it in a heartbeat. Because if your time in the Army and my time in the Marines taught us one thing: "War never changes."
Thank you for your service
That intro is so beautiful and well made.
Khalel Esmany nice pic
JamminJim19 you too!
Everyone should watch this before watching the series. This is a really good concise explanation of what led up to the events in the show. A lot of people are watching the show who haven't played the game and this would answer a lot of questions.
This is one of the most emotionally stirring introductions to a videogame I've ever seen.
It hit so close to home that the first time I saw it, I honestly cried.
Regardless if you hated the game or not, this was the BEST intro. I cried and got chills.
Big facts. What's your Snapchat?
@@nfbk123 You are going on the naughty list my boy
@@nfbk123down bad, bro.
I think this is the best intro in Fallout's history. I like how it doesn't really reveal the hero's backstory until the very end.
Uh, even Fallout 3 had a better intro than this. How can you even compare this to Fallout 1 or 2?
This brings me so much shivers because it parallels a lot with our current predicament: Dwindling resources, escalating conflicts, world order and biosphere unravelling, and the most powerful nation (USA) still wants to dream of it’s ephemeral way of life and status
Fall out movie would be great.
+Ace Man Movie? TV series !

+Npgabriel Guillermo del toro helped in making this so :\
+Ace Man Type in Nuka Break and enjoy that series while you can. It's fairly short
As someone who's followed the fallout franchise since I was 11 I've always found this intro powerful. It's narrated by somebody who's just caught up in humanities most destructive war. bleak and hopless of the upcoming armageddon.
I don't even wanna know the budget they had when making this intro cinematic, however much it was thought, it definitely payed off
Power armored guy looks like he's seen some shit
+i am the man who grabs the sun
I think he's pissed that they have a welder going to town on his back plate.
+falloutboy33 he probably killed like 500 chinese guys that day
He looks exhausted, physically, but definitely emotionally.
He obviously never gets any peace, because he can’t even get out of the suit for repairs- it’s on the go. He probably has to redeploy straight after.
@@SebaztienHawke-ci5hm This is a really good read of the situation. If they're welding right now instead of at least letting him climb out of it and hanging the suit, This man has like 10 minutes left of his break tops before being sent back out
Essentially, the US replaced tanks with people in power armor to save resources. Now just immagine the kind of carnage a tank can inflict on the enemy - while keeping in mind that the chinese were behind technilogically. The man is haunted. 8 years later still one of the best opening cinematics to a game!
I don't care what you think about this game, this intro is hauntingly beautiful.
Brian did such an astounding job narrating this intro cinematic. His voice gave me chills, especially with this quote: "If my time in the army taught me one thing, it's that war... War never changes..." and he is unfortunately absolutely right.
War never changes, because people never change.
"War never changes. Men do, through the roads they walk."
hope we get to find a untouch vault with people still living in it instead of failed ones
+Futurescped You know nothing Jon Snow.
Vaults were all experiments, they were not made for people to actually survive.
+Diadlo actually roughly 20 or so to my knowledge were actually made to public standards.
+Diadlo I thought some were kept normal to serve as controls for the other experiments
+Diadlo You're wrong bru, in one of the vaults on Fallout 3 you find a list of 17 I believe it was vaults that were to set up to function as "advertised in media material" or w/e
+Diadlo Actually, 17 vaults were designated control vaults. They were actually supposed to do their jobs of keeping everyone safe with no pre-existing conditions. Vault City (Vault 8) in Fallout 2 was one such control vault.
In 2024 this intro is a lot closer to reality than I'd like

+☣FalloutBoySVK☢ Man, nuclear warfare is a past fear. Nobody in the world would ever decide to press the big red button to atomise any country in the world, but terrorists groupuscules. I don't fear the nuclear war because it might never happen. But... I fear the fact that we're being invaded by something out of control: an onslaught of religions zealots, muslims, some of which are fundamentalist so called "moderate muslims" which are in-fact the one that would hold you're frets while an terrorist chop you'r head off. It's the sad truth. And the only way an nuclear armageddon could happen, would be if those same religious zealots took control of our governments and decided to pull the switch to destroy those who don't believe in their's religion. Thats a fact. My country is overrun. I'm scared of the amount of women's that now wear's niqabs in the streets, I'm scared because a few years ago, nobody wore a niqab. Nobody had the long islamist beard. There were no mosquees in my town, and only a few in my whole country because at this time, the muslims were actually "calm" and an minority. They weren't bashed or mocked at. We helped them, gave them homes, food... Identities.. And purposes.. But they attracted more.. And they still do so... They are transforming my country, changing it into a giant bin, a giant mess. War might erupt in the European Union, and the Union shall be no more if such thing happens.. Time to wake up, people's.. Islam isn't peaceful..
If the apocalypse had to happen, if we had to survive just like in Fallout, it would be because of that.
And you know what? Because Fallout got it right: War.. War never changes... But, most affirmatively, human.. Human never changes.
And we still don't want what will happen in the future.
Yeah you are right, we had this privilage to live on Earth, I would say 1 habitable planet out of billions, and we still cannot simply live in piece, and help eachh other, we are killing each other, destroying others lifes, having no idea how bad humanity is. One day, we are going to fall, we will fall so hard, we wont get back on our feets, I can promise that. I wish it happens, because we deserve it. Not individuals, but mankind as a collective. Collective that devastate and murder
And I am not even talking about religion, its worst cancer in our daily life, most of conficts are caused just by a religous differences and rasism. I cant continue. :/
That epic music, narration & atmosphere gets me every single time!!!
Remember when this was just a fictional game and not a potential future?
It is still a fictional game, the planet suffering the horrible effects of Capitalism as always has been happening for Centuries before Fallout even existed.
It takes inspiration from non fiction
We know why we’re back here
This game was so ahead of it's time it used footage of your average day in 2024
Even in a hundred years when games evolve this will still be the best intro
That show with the soldier in Power Armor, the way his felt conveyed a sense of exhaust and weakness despite wearing a literal tank. Just shows how war, war never changes.
who else whatched this cutscene like 20 times?
How about 300 times
Since Fallout 5 has been announced, I wonder what state of the US it'll take place in.

It's supposed to be. That's why he says the iconic line into the mirror at the beginning.
You can also find the Veterans hall ingame and interact with the mic, to which your character repeats the same line in a rather depressed voice.
Julian Cumbia where's it at the veteran's hall
Watching this in 2022 😭😭😭
I've watched this 5 times and I could do it another 500. gives me the chills every time, and I LOVE IT!!!
The irony of using what little resources the world has left to fight over what little resources the world has left. That is the point of Fallout.

That room is a reference to The War Room from Stanley Kubrick's movie Dr Strangelove (1964), which inspired most of Fallout's aesthetic and tone.
As the previous poster says, look on google img search for "the war room. Dr Strangelove" and you'll understand the reference. A fantastic comedy drama film about starting a nuclear war. Definitely one of the greatest set designs in cinema history, so no wonder it keeps getting "borrowed"!

The end of the world wasn't scary. When I knew you and Alex were dead, I didn't have anything left to be scared about. I just went on for some reason.

Anybody else annoyed that they show B-24 dropping the A-bomb on Hiroshima and not a B-29? Nobody. Just me? yep.
Tbf they didn't actually show it dropping any bomb. Also it was shown with many other planes. The b29s that dropped fatman and little boy were solo flights.
+falloutboy33 The clip said the US ended WW2 by dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. You just pointed out another inaccuracy though. It's not just that they showed the wrong plane the B24 couldn't even carry the weight of the A-bomb.
Though I do notice it's looks like it's the ball turret and not the bomb poking out. Still they should have shown a B29 since they mentioned the A-bomb.
+Sergeant Major Gray just because the clip showed B24s does not mean they're saying that a liberator dropped the bombs. It's just showing an american air raid
