XGT Outdoor Power Equipment delivers gas-like performance demanded by professional landscapers. The 40V max XGT Brushless 15” String Trimmer (GRU01Z, tool only) delivers the power needed to get the job done. With zero emissions, lower noise and maximum versatility, the power head provides a cordless solution for heavy trimming applications.
A variable speed trigger controls cutting speed with three speed options (3,500, 5,300, 6,500 RPM), allowing users to match power and speed to the changing demands of the application. Automatic Torque Drive Technology mode automatically shifts speed to extend run time or add power as needed. A reverse rotation function allows the operator to quickly clear the trimmer head of entangled grass and weeds.
The string trimmer features the Rapid Load Bump and Feed Trimmer Head, which loads the line in seconds with 3 easy steps. An adjustable loop handle provides comfort.
For added durability in harsh job site conditions, Extreme Protection Technology (XPT) is engineered for improved dust and water resistance. The string trimmer also features IPX4-rated weather-resistant construction for added durability.

Boom out of the park again!!,great episode sir and it’s makita 🤟🤟
I got Makita's 19 inch XGT lawn mower kit with two 5 ah batteries and single fast charger. Got the XGT powerhead with pole chainsaw for free with it 😂. Purchased the line trimmer/hedge trimmer/extension shaft/double charger/ XGT blower and two 8 ah batteries.
I'm using the two 8 ah's in mower and the 5 ahs in blower and power head.
In regard to the line trimmer on powerhead. The motor runs much cooler at the trigger end than the (Higher efficiency) direct drive motor at the line trimmer head. I don't think the problem is so much the length of the line trimmer, but the height of the string from the ground (high). Making us twist and pivot the line trimmer awkwardly.
Motor speeds:
1 = good for light grass trimming and edging
2 = good for regular grass trimming as you would a 30cc petrol line trimmer
3 = good for brush cutting (dense grass etc)
Really enjoyed your review 👍🏻
FYI There is a new xgt trimmer coming out that can spin both ways. I think it's a bit more powerful in the 35cc range
Was there a press release about this? Been wanting to get an XGT trimmer but may wait a little longer for this new one.
@@Tacticaltool I haven't seen a press release. Sydney Tools tv had a short video demonstration.
Are you restring a bunch of different trimmers? Hopefully.
Nice review👌
How did you find that tiny debris/stone plastic guard...is it effective, or what you would expect for the size.
Many thanks 🇦🇺
Not very protective at blocking debris, but does better than nothing. For its size it works as expected
Thanks for the post. Would have been good to show how the trimmer is lubricated.
Can you fit a idech Power Rotary Scissors on this?
No. Unless you have Makita's star shaped spline, you'll need Makita's Rotary Scissors.
@@ecp4500 I thought the star shaped spline was one of the adapters that came with the Idech rotary scissors?
@@PushaDee Well if it has an adapter of sorts that fits, then I guess it would work.
Cant run in reverse because head will unscrew.
I'm assuming Makita doesn't mention 095 line because it's only 40V. The thicker the line, harder the motor has work and the more battery drain you have. It still seems surprising considering other brands are equipping their trimmers with 095 line albeit with 56V motors. Also note that the rear motor Makitas have even higher RPM motors for some reason even with the mass of a drive shaft.
dewalt and milwaukee can use 095 line. Rear motor designs are less efficient, but they can put a bigger motor.
Currently $99 bucks on clearance at the HD!
Yep just got one
The first thing for anyone remotely handy to do is remove that spool head completely and replace it with the famous Echo Speed Feed 400.
Whipper snipper ! Not string trimmer..
