I bought an Ego trimmer based on your recommendation. I used it about 15 times before it stopped working. The motor control module went out. EGO refused to live up to the warranty. They would not replace nor repair my trimmer. Complete failure.
I had the ego and had nothing but problems with line feeding. Exchanged it for their top model with Kevlar pole and again same feeding issues. I won’t go back to ego.
Ive owned an Ego line IQ for 3 yrs and use it a lot and love it. Auto line feed works for me quickly and easily 98% of the time with no issues and its still rated tops with consumers, for auto line feeding trimmers
I'm still on my first battery charge and the string line doesn't feed. I give this review a failing grade. Never buy another EGO based upon reviews from actual EGO owners I have spoken to.
I have the single battery M18 myself. I only use for light to medium thick brush/grass but I’ve been absolutely surprised at how well it powers through most anything and being only 18v nominal vs many other brands twice that voltage.
I bought a Ryobi brushless straight shaft trimmer about 3 years ago and love it! Has plenty of power for average home owner and the battery is a 4ah which lets it run for about 30 minutes 45 if you run in low power mode can handle .095 line. Batteries have held up very well and I feel it has Deff paid for itself over the past 3 seasons I gave around $249 with battery then.
I use a .155" string on an aftermarket head and low gear on the Dewalt attachment capable. It barely wears against brick, concrete, or wire fence. Bludgeons the grass out of the way. Messy, but functional and I can get up close to my agricultural buildings and fence without chewing up line.
I bought a ego trimmer, used it 3 times, was $170. I didn't buy the line eq version just basic. I like the power, but there are 2 things I don't like. The 2.5ah battery lasts me about 25 minutes and when you put it on charger right after using the weed trimmer, I have to wait about 15 minutes for the battery to cool down before charger will charge. Otherwise i like the ego.
I have the ego line iq with power head and I love it except it will get down to 1-2 inches before it adds more line I also have sthil fs131 gas and the ego is more powerful. Biggest downside to the ego is weight,I added the backpack battery holder so that’s no longer an issue. I now have many ego products edger, push mower, blowers and after owning them for 3+ years now I’ve had zero problems with batteries or equipment.
I own the Ego snow thrower shovel and was wondering if those batteries work with the trimmers? In fact I think the shovel came with 2 batteries. Not at home right now so can look at them though.
I use the Greenworks commercial 82v trimmer, model 82ST151 with the 4ah battery. It is very good, it lasts 1 hour and 10 minutes and charges in 30 minutes. It only weighs 13 pounds with the battery.
We bought the Ego Professional on your recommendation and are glad we did. No LineIQ or autoloader but we cut and load the line in less than five minutes so we're okay. We use the two large batteries from the four-year old lawnmower and a smaller battery from their blower. They don't charge as fast as we use them up when using the Middle speed. That's not good when we're trimming all day so we have to split up tasks into two-hour segments. The design is excellent and very powerful. The large batteries are quite heavy but by the time we finally found and attached a knapsack strap our bodies had strengthended enough that we didn't need it anymore. Thank you for the comparisons. You set them up well.
Echo batteries are trash and they change battery form factors too often. Both of my batteries are defective now and I’m forced to find something else because they don’t sell the batteries anymore. 58v and only 7 years old. Batteries were flakey from the start, but I could always push the button on battery to reset the issue and get it going again, until I couldn’t anymore.
Whichever weed whacker is compatible w Terre rotary scissors is the best brand or which ever weed whacker brand has its own brand of rotary scissors is also the best brand. Dewalt weed whacker is one of the best brand, but does not have their own brand of its rotary scissors attachment like tht of the Milwaukee brand weed whacker.
Surprisingly it's an exact copy of the Ryobi. Watched abother video where the guy shows how they r made by same company. They just made the batteries slightly different so you can't enter change them. Seriously the Hart isn't bad from what he said. It's the exact same as the Ryobi from head to motor. Triggers r even the exact same and hart Hart has hi low switch Ryobi doesn't
Avoid Ego. My battery died after a year after purchasing. Replacement died after 2 and now they are saying tough luck that it's outside warranty. My string trimmer went down and it took 3 months to fix. It seems customer service has gotten pretty bad over the last 8 years I have used their stuff.
This is my issue with Ego. Really great product, unless something happens. Their customer support was horrid to deal with and I ended up waiting almost 5 months to get mine fixed and returned.
@@Thatbeardedguy86 Same. The company they had doing the service work said they were going to stop carrying their products because the frequency they are breaking. They use to be pretty good. Lately that has changed unfortunately.
You see these companies would be better off standing behind their product in the long term. Because in this comment section it’s the first thing I see. And I will never buy their product.
In 2030, when solid-state batteries are applied, a 72V or higher saw blade for mountain use is required. X-lock system for quick blade and circular saw blade changes
I had a ryobi for roughly 5yrs worked for what I needed it for. But now it won’t hold the batteries correctly so the connection breaks and it stops. I’m thinking of getting the Milwaukee but not 100% sold on it yet
care to explain your experience with your Ryobi? what version? I had a brushless 40v weed eater and after like a year and some change I can hear the motor working harder while I edge the sidewalks as if it needs lubricant for it to run smooth and not make a stuttering noise.
Thinking of this one. How is the balance and overall ergonomics? Currently you have the 18v attach capable ones but I'm thinking of just getting the dedicated 40v whisper
I hate sthil weed eater Battery dies fast for commercial landscaping. I do big area on freeway and i have carry least 6 batteries for crew maybe eight. We got 500 Battery last for hour and we do least 4 to 5 hours cutting.

I've read reviews about string feeder not releasing string. Is that a bump release or automatic release?
Mine was a bump

Love my M18 single battery string trimmer. Lots of power and I have quik lok and have several attachments. Love the versatility.
Just bought mine over the weekend, and I agree with both of u. Love it so far.

They're pretty solid for homeowner use. We do prefer the Ryobi 40V trimmers over the 18V models.

The most powerful trimmer is the Ego stx 4500. That thing is insane!!
Yes, no contest.
I just got mine last fall and it didn't get much use during leaf cleanups. It will be interesting to see how it performs with thick spring growth.
wonder how it does against my Greenworks 80volt?
Warranty care is shockingly bad, rpm is very low, weather resistance is bad, battery is bad and low ah, only 900w rated power.
