In this video I am going to undertake the removal and replacing of the rear shock absorbers on my 2004 Audi TT 3.2 V6. I hve never tried this before so here is a beginner's guide on how to do it.
It includes information on the hints and tips I was not aware of before starting the job and some of the pitfalls along the way.
If is relatively straight forward but best to do the prep work in advance.
    You will need the following:
    PARTS
    (x2)Monroe G1236 Shock Absorbers
(x2) N90781301 Bolt (M10x65mm) For top of Shock
(x2)N10428102 Bolt (M14x90mm) For Bottom of Shock
** If you are replacing the shocks on the rear of the Audi TT Mk1 3.2 V6, it is recommended that you use the original Monroe OEM part direct from Audi. This is 8N0 512 011BD. The G1236 will fit but could result in bottoming out if you have lowered the car ***
    TOOLS
Where did I get my parts:
    AVS - Bolts (£32)
    www.vwspares.c...
    Ebay - Shocks_Direct.1313 - Monroe G1236 Shock Absorbers (£100)
Helpful people who knew what I was looking for!
    Their Ebay Shop: www.ebay.co.uk...
Please do leave me your trhoughts and feeback in the comments or if you have any questions.
    Thanks for watching!

Thanks, Andy. It's great that you're taking us through this process in such a basic step-by-step way - just what is needed for novices. Lots of dirt behind that wheel arch liner - no wonder the corrosion has been getting a grip on my wheel arches! Will be getting that sorted out soon.

Nice work Chris. I am glad my videos are helping so many. I try to make them easy to follow as there are normally videos out there, just not aimed at those of us who are novices. Rather than "train the trainer", its more like "novice the novices!" lol

Great video was very help, except I had a heck of a time trying to line the bottom bolt. Was not confident that I was going to cross thread. After trying several times l decided to mount the bottom bolt first, than pulled up on the top part of the shock while starting the top bolt. Worked like a charm.

@@andycharger I'd like mine looking new underneath too. As I use my car daily it's a bit difficult to find time for jobs like these. I suspect it will be easier to buy all the parts and have them powder coated and then swap it all over one weekend, then get the old parts that I've taken off powder coated and sell them on....might be a plan 😉

Amazing Andy, been waiting for these videos. Finding it EXTREMELY difficult to track down correct parts and part numbers for the V6, and even harder to find someone in the US who has the knowledge of this specific TT, let alone on RUclips. Seems to be a much rarer model. Gonna be fitting the scorpion res catback next week, one of the few V6 add on’s I could find here in the States.

    Hi Andy
Very good video. Unfortunately VAG have made top bolts obsolete but bottom bolts only available in bags of 7 from VAG. Fortunately managed to get 2 from Western VW in Newbridge (had 5 in stock) and top ones from eBay shop in Latvia (hoping they arrive 🤞). They may become a problem VW stop support once 10 yrs out of production.
