Old memes weren't cringe. They were actually funny. Don't try and pretend the new generation isn't brainrotted. Gen Alpha has skibidi toilet birthday parties. There were never vine themed birthday parties
0:18 this brings me back... sadly all my friends join the internet during the post irony meme era while i joined the dank mlg era... wish i could take them back...
I joined the internet around the troll face era, I’d say about 2009-2010. I didn’t watch memes til like 2016, but they were all mainly stuff starting from the experimental era (1995-2004) and ending in the classic era (2004-2009). But most of my friends were in the MLG era of the internet.
It’s not really about the humor for me but more about the fact that people became shells of human beings that just repeat everything they see online all of the time
@@epiccg6872m8 people before 2010 were just as cringe at that age its just nostlagia bias convincing you that you weren't as cringe back then. I'll freely admit I used to be and so was virtually everyone in my year group.
1: props for being able to belt the 2016 and beyond stuff out, because I know I couldn't make it through that without wanting to throw myself on some train tracks. 2: that of mice and men thing was funny
@@lolliii5477 It's a really old novella written in 1937. It's an interesting story about a pair of farm workers in California and their struggles finding and keeping a stable life. It's only 137 pages and pretty cheap, so you can easily finish it in like a weekend. There's also a 1994 movie that I watched and I thought it was pretty good as well, but the book is the original experience. The book has some controversy due to the fact that it includes many of the slurs and vulgarity of the 1930's that would not fly today, but I can't see the book as morally reprehensible for it. The scene referenced in the video is the very last scene in the book, but the reference wouldn't ruin your enjoyment if no one described the context of it, so you should be fine.
Honestly memes nowadays make like no sense and lost relevance over the years. Kinda sad how memes have drastically changed. Maybe it might get better but at this rate I doubt it
@Xequted never thought I see the day where I would miss those… back then when a trend existed… it wasn’t stupid or cringe Water Bottle Flipping, Trading Cards.. stuff that made us actually enjoy life during hard times by being able to have fun with our friends.. now we’re in our senior year of high school and we have to deal with shit on the Internet like everyone trying to make problems out of stuff back then when it was quiet no one was getting hurt from it since no problems arised
I could actually see people laughing at a blank screen in the future, and that scares me Edit: It took me a second watch to realize the ending was an Of Mice and Men reference
I think it's even more funny cuz my cousin actually did do all of this kind of a few years ago and we even have videos of it and when we show it to him he feels so embarrassed
I think the problem with memes now is that they’re all kind of meant to be like “oh it’s so unfunny that it’s funny” but then there’s kids who grow up with these unfunny memes thinking that they’re funny which just leads to a whole bunch of problems.
Immediately after the warning, I began crying and vomiting, while all my bones simultaneously broke. I am currently in the hospital in critical condition. I just woke up from my coma.
not a comment on the video (even tho the cringe is so nostalgic but painful) but congrats on the sudden success grant, glad to be apart of your journey and I’ll still be here 🙏
I never thought I'd see the day where a real person uses the 😂 emoji. Unless I'm assuming you're a real person, and not a robot made by the government to sell more air conditioning.
If I ever have kids, I'm just gonna restrict Internet access until they're at least 14 (that was the age that I got my first phone.) And I'd only allow the computer for games or whatever. Can't make future generations end up the way they are now. Then again, it probably won't work. I'm 19 and my humor is admittedly a bit broken. But hopefully it prevents them from being bad at a much younger age?
facts. Probably going to give them a computer before a phone because the world is heading towards technology jobs so could to get them familiar with using a computer young, then id introduce them to coding, 3d modelling or some other productive app.
This gave me chills. Physical repulsions. I'm technically part of the generation that promoted these forms of entertainment and I am so detached from it.
I mean like... at the same time we have people going on to a digital app called RUclips, clinging on nostalgia by watching videos like this, and typing "In 2024 we will have flying car" comments
Memes started out with the basic sense of humor everyone shared. But the terminally online continued to develop new humor that continues to just evolve upon itself until it makes 0 sense to anyone who’s not terminally online. But then children who are terminally online grow up with this type of shit exclusively and they don’t learn the shared humor the rest of society has.

0:18 this brings me back... sadly all my friends join the internet during the post irony meme era while i joined the dank mlg era... wish i could take them back...
I developed epilepsy from mlg
I joined the internet around the troll face era, I’d say about 2009-2010. I didn’t watch memes til like 2016, but they were all mainly stuff starting from the experimental era (1995-2004) and ending in the classic era (2004-2009). But most of my friends were in the MLG era of the internet.
It’s not really about the humor for me but more about the fact that people became shells of human beings that just repeat everything they see online all of the time

i wonder what's "Of Mice and Men", could've been worth reading/watching
@@lolliii5477 check it out
@@lolliii5477 It's a really old novella written in 1937.

Water Bottle Flipping, Trading Cards.. stuff that made us actually enjoy life during hard times by being able to have fun with our friends.. now we’re in our senior year of high school and we have to deal with shit on the Internet like everyone trying to make problems out of stuff back then when it was quiet no one was getting hurt from it since no problems arised
