Yep I hear the audio issues and see the video quality isn't the best. I will need to retire the equipment I had bought specifically to do these city update videos because it's not working well. For now though it's what I've got. Better to share imperfect updates than none at all.
@@JANGcity I’m a professional audio engineer and I gotta say, your audio is just fine. I absolutely appreciate your relentless pursuit for perfection, but you also gotta give yourself some grace! Glad to see you’re realigning your city with your own passions and vision. Keep up the (already) outstanding work and remember to have fun!
Hey Jang! Long time model railroader here. Have you considered doing an around-the room design instead? You will probably be able to get more room out of your room, and you can make scenes designed to be viewed from one side, allowing more visual depth! And one more point, unless you just want to watch trains run (which is totally awesome too!), I’d make sure to put sidings in front of industries so your trains have places to go. But obviously, this is from a model train perspective, so this is what makes sense for our side, maybe not Lego.
Sidings yep. Around the room nope. LEGO is almost O gauge in scale, but with a tiny fraction of the tractive force per powered axle. The net result is a need for somewhat wide radius turns and extreme speed drops where you're forced to tighten up (thus necessitating more base voltage & speed for continuous running, which is my main interest). I can't go fully around the room because it'd require a bare minimum of one very, very large drawbridge or hoist-up table, either of which is extremely inconvenient and requires stopping operations, eliminating my ability to run the loop while filming or streaming naturally all around the layout. Thus the best I can do is a wall-hugging "C" with large awkward 180 turns at both ends. Just doesn't work with my room, LEGO's scale, or my desires. I've done my best to work out very different layout concepts digitally and this general table arrangement here is far & away the most practical & comfortable.
The best part about building your own Lego City? It's never finished, you'll always find something to do and sometimes shuffling of ideas will give way to true happiness
Honestly, the audio makes this feel like a really old city update, the kind I used to watch back in the day. Can't wait to see what will come in the future. Also not to let an old tradition die, what's going on under the table?
I used to love model railways as a kid, we had a large setup in the garage that i would play with for hours. Watching your recent city updates makes me want to do it all over again with Lego. Keep enjoying yourself, and sharing the joy.
Dear Jang. Its so good to see and hear that you got your mojo back for YOUR city. Loving it that you are going to build the traintrack that you always wanted. Thank you for all the journies(?) in your city, the changes, the storys and the incredible builds that you shared with us. Thank you for beeing you! You, good sir, are a inspiration for many and i wish you all the luck, positive vibes, happyness and a good start of in this new adventure. Stay save out the Jang, in body and in spirit. 😁👍
I have tons of knights, soldiers, wizards, etc but my absolute favorite thing to do with Lego is: LOGISTICS. I love using cranes to load boats and trucks. Nothing is more enjoyable and satisfying than having a harbor with multiple cranes and various transport vehicles coming and going. It's just so enjoyable
great to see the update and excited to see how you develop your city ... got to say though the best was just hearing the positivity and creativity you have bursting to come out!
The problem with lego train systems, similar to airports it takes up lots of space, to get a good train track in that small space there would be minimal buildings. In London they put the trains underground for a reason, but I look forward to what You do.
I loved your old builds, but change is nice and fun so I'm excited to see where this update goes! I have no space for trains myself, so it's a side of Lego I'm happy I can experience some more through this project.
What an exciting new chapter in the city to come! Really looking forward to seeing and following along on the journey of how it all gets rebuilt! It is a lot of work but the anticipation and ideas of creating something new in the space after it being in the same state for so long always gets the creativity into high gear.
while it is disheartening to see you disassembling stuff im also glad you are building your city the way you want it at least its all archived on youtube i hope you can keep most of the buildings though
Exciting!! I once did this with a medieval town I’d built in Minecraft. I’d spent a long time on it but ultimately I wasn’t satisfied with the layout that evolved from just building more and more stuff. Taking a bunch of buildings and structures down was heartbreaking but so worth it to walk through a town that was much more engaging to look at/walk through. All the best for your rejigging journey!
I am not going to lie, I am going to miss the city. I am also not a big train enthousiast. But, not my Lego, not my channel. I hope you enjoy your newfound creativity to the fullest!
The spacing and height changes sound like great QOL improvements that should make working and filming in there a lot more pleasant. Really looking forward to seeing this develop.
Looking forward to the new layout, it should always be about what makes you happy. It’s all about creativity and sometimes you need to make space for the new better version. I am limited to one small room where I live and I can’t recall the number of times the layout has been rebuilt, rearranged etc it’s currently better than ever. I must say though ergonomics are important and it’s always a challenge to make the space enjoyable and work for you.
It must be a serious challenge to move stuff out of the way to make the changes. I imagine they only move to a place where they are in the way of something else. Like one of those sliding tile puzzles.
I came back to your city chanel after years. And I rly like your new idea of an railroad layout. Very excited to see more. Always loved industrial areas. Keep going. Its gona be amazing. 👍👍👍👍👍
A work in progress. Very cool. I am close to starting my city and I've followed your city for a few years now. Lots of inspiration. Your harbor and train layout is my main like for sure. I look forward to what your updates will be.
I can’t believe the amount of Lego Jang has collected over the years. I guess we don’t realise how much we have until we need to make space or reconstruct. I actually liked the audio and video. Looking forward to heaps of updates. 👍
You need to win a big lottery, get a bigger room(much bigger) and get more LEGOs. Then have fun. But when you have a limited space, do what feels best to you. And have fun. We are just along for the ride. And have fun.
Didn’t even notice any audio difficulties. Full support here. As I have said in the past, Lego is meant to be town down and rebuilt. Looking forward to future updates!
Glad you're continuing to commit to making what *you* enjoy! Because for me, I believe the transitive property applies here. If you are enjoying it, I will be enjoying it. It's always more fun to watch someone having fun than someone attempting to please everyone. The only question now is... Is it still New Jang City? Or is it... Newer Jang City? Newest Jang City? Neo New Jang City? 😅
How long does it take you to decided to make major changes like that? It took me over a week of just staring at my layout to pull one building out and start rebuilding that small section in a different direction. I am always interested in how things get changed, sometimes I really like the changes, sometimes there are elements I am sad to see go, but it is always inspiring. Thanks for sharing!!!
Any one semi-major change can take easily multiple days worth of active, fully focused thought, necessarily spread over weeks and sometimes multiple months of time. I have to step back often, let ideas marinate, and sometimes simply wait for inspiration or motivation. It's often embarrassing to myself just how long it will take of practically "doing" nothing -- just thinking, sketching, moving things back & forth seemingly aimlessly before finally deciding to pull the trigger on a change.
Nope those are very inconvenient, especially fussy with 9V track, and limiting to future design changes, plus removing a gap would mean I would not be able to move my live streaming cart into or out of the center aisle of the layout during a stream without shutting down trains and going through the full set of bridge ops. I long ago made the room upright walkable and it's important to me to keep it that way, both for myself and for the viewer experience.

Worst part: price.
Love the trains dude. My 10 year old boy and I have heaps, we set them up the other day all throughout the house...hours of fun
There's something very wholesome about committing to the enjoyment first philosophy
An unstated benefit of all this- more parts for new MoCs!

Taking apart the old and building something better - that's what Lego is all about.

Honestly, this is the beauty and essence of LEGO - a media to make things. As Picasso said, every act of creation is first an act of destruction…

Heck yeah, LEGO self-actualization.
Looking forward to the airport!
Hitting the master reset button must feel good!
The only down side to it is the amount of disassembly and parts tidy-up that needs to take place...
I love your mocs❤
Continue with the great work!!!
how big is the room? just to get a feeling of the space
First I love your videos and city my favorite thing is your planetary defense base I ill see in the future how the trains will work with that

What kind of tables do you have?
Is you new layout all planned or will you be winging it a bit?
With the new focus on making this a model train layout, is there any chance you'll reinstall a bridge across one of the gaps?
Nope those are very inconvenient, especially fussy with 9V track, and limiting to future design changes, plus removing a gap would mean I would not be able to move my live streaming cart into or out of the center aisle of the layout during a stream without shutting down trains and going through the full set of bridge ops. isn't destroying it a bit too far?
Nothing is too far. I'm finally doing whatever I feel I need to do to make this a place I like.
