Holy cow, who has all the equipment you'd need to make this thing?😮
Wholey cow, milk maid.
I do.
And so do most people I know, who don't rely on rampant capitalism to supply their every need and desire.
@@trueaussie9230 are you serious?! What a ridiculous answer, just because you have all that stuff.. not everybody does
I havent finished the video but im still laughing at this comment ty so much lol . So back to the Holy cow project.
Most people who are crafty and work with wood will have all that equipment Jane Snow.
Seems like the point of this waste of time video is; just throw the darn bottle in the recycling bin and go do something productive
This is exactly how I re-use my glass bottles now! Except for the aluminum foil. And the giant pipe. And the foam insulation.
Lolu Oh Marc, I don't know if I'm ever going to quit laughing from this. 😆
So much easier to buy one!
😂😂😂😂
Great idea if you have all these tools on hand ...but if not, I think it's cheaper to buy a thermos flask...😂😁🤣
I did same only i left out the glue stage as well far less sticky that way
ROFLMAO magic
I learned that it's a lot easier to buy a thermos than to make one. The process was fascinating, though, and Eugene has nice hands.
So far he still has all his fingers…🤓
Or you could have spent thousands of dollars for tools to make one, ha!!!.
Yes & most of us don't have the tools or materials to make one.
That's what happens when workers keep stealing you good thermos bottle.
@@sunfish4712 m.
Yeah, I'll be throwing another glass bottle away.
You won't turn every glass bottle you have into a crude thermos, using a bunch of extra materials, various tools, and time? That's unbelievable! Surely you need thousands of thermoses!
Wouldn't it have been soooooo much easier to simply wrap the glass with aluminum, invert it in the pvc tube and add spray can foam insulation?
Would have been a Great Deal easier just Not do the Video n posting it.
Or just use the thermos that’s laying on the workbench.
I thought the same thing! Lol
Yup
Kill joy!
I cant believe I watched this whole thing. I will never get that time back
It could still be worth it if you learned to read some comments first...
Fast forward. Wasn't invented yesterday.
...the length that men will go thru to stay outta the house, away from wife & kids during this quarantine cannot be anymore evident than this exhibit of the waste of time, materials & well being. now... who gets the bill for my time spent here.
"unruly behavior will not be tolerated"
I watched it too I don't know why but I did
........but then life is all about watching things.
After that I will throw away every glass bottle I can find.
😂
Me too! I might even throw away other people’s glass bottles to save them from wasting hours of their lives.
😂😂😂😂
I mean..... Every single one.
😂🤣😂🤣
Back in 1968 we use to keep frozen pops cold all day by wrapping the cans in newspaper then covering that with foil. Your tools cost more than my house.
Reminds me of in '93 when we had field trips out to death valley. Our instructors had us take the usual plastic water bottles, fill those up about 2/3rds the way then freeze it and wrap it in foil. Kept things cold for all day.
We even use to do this with 1 cup of rubbing alcohol and 2 cups of water for ice and heat packs.
@@zekodun☺️ Thank you for reminding us; good old fashioned ingenuity, will take us alot farther, then today's technology, when 'they' pull the plug!! GODBLESS&❤️ALL 🤗

I know right! Lol 😂
hahaha
I'm gonna buy a thermos.
Cheaper than those unsanitary, hard-cleaning materials.
Seriously- why spend $35 in materials and a an afternoon of your time to make a giant, ugly, poorly performing garbage creation when you could just buy a decent thermos for that price and save your self the time and embarrassment from carrying that around?
I watch the whole bloody thing, then went straight to my kitchen and drank a beer just so I could throw the bottle away! Shit, just realised I wasted another minute of my life posting this comment!
Wish I had read your comment about a minute into the video. I would not have wasted as much time as you did...
Thank you for saving me 7 minutes!

"Already" not "all ready"🤣🤣🤣

I want that 7 minutes of my life back. I can't believe I watched this guy make a stupid homemade thermos that was ugly and ergonomically awful.
Yeah, it's so ugly, bulky, looks like part of something ...... Safe ! .... No one will want to steal it. Hahahaha
That's why I watch these videos at 1.5X speed, I'm only out four and a half minutes! Still a waste though.
When is it that I'm supposed to find out why I'll never throw away another glass bottle?
The most amazing thing about this video is that you got all the way to the end and still had all your fingers left.... Shocking...!!!
Bandsaws are not for the faint-hearted. One slip and you'll never be able to jerk off properly again.
He seemed pretty careless to me, too, Peter.
This is so instructional! I will know and value the use of thermos from now on.... when I buy them!
This was the best laugh I've had today. It's also 7:46 minutes and seconds i've thrown away for the journey thru life.
Next up, the hydraulic teaspoon no doubt.... :0)
Ok I’ve created 99 home made thermos flasks. Please can I start throwing away glass bottles again now?
I know the feeling...
@@alanpmasters : Recycle the glass, don't trash it.
@John Tollen...Think how much time would have been wasted if he didn't have it on fast forward? Lol...
That is a GD expensive thermos if you figure in the cost of labour.
And all those styrofoam that goes to the garbage... not good for the environment.
Its about the fun of making things
Not to mention that the PVC fittings and pipe was at least half the cost of the professional thermal bottle.
Can you imagine if he didn’t speed up the video?
I always skip to the end on these titles. I am, once again, found with zero regret for doing so.
I do also being burnt enough times now to know better
I wish I had!
I have a glass Jar! Just not all them fancy power tools! Lol 😂 cool 😎 video📼 thanks! 🇺🇸
You can do pretty much the same thing with a hand drill, hack saw, coping saw and sand paper - it'll just take more skill and patience. ( a battery charged hot wire and a clamp or vice can replace the coping saw to cut styrofoam.)
Me too! Lots of glass jars no tools! 🙁

You're so right. I will do this every time i have a glass bottle from now on.
You are correct! I will recycle glass bottles for $ instead of discarding. Plus I already have a nice, slim thermos. Good video.
What a waste of time watching this.
It is only YOU who are wasting your own time.

Yes me to lol to much time on his hands lol
I see a lot of people complaining about wasting their time watching the video, still wasting their precious(?) time making comments they seem to believe are smart. Haters gonna hate. I would rather see them doing something better with their precious time.
Congratulations, Eugene! So good to see (for a change) someone using their time and their hands to create and not to destroy.
This is in no way being creative, it's just going to a whole lot of trouble to add to the world's plastic waste mountain in order to make a thing you can buy for a couple of bucks, which would be a lot lighter to carry around, and is made from recyclable glass and metal. This is not building a better mousetrap.
I like your kindness because you could have really destroyed them haters there but you did it in a very nice way LOL and I like the idea of what you said. Kudos! :)
@@lusoverse8710 How is buying a new plastic thermo better than REUSING plastic glass and styrofoam to make one? I wonder...
Should have just used the spray foam it would have saved a lot of time and effort.
What a waste of foam and so much work. And ugly af
So in conclusion, your ads at the end covered up the finally.
Yeh darn thing

I’m exhausted just watching all of the effort this guy has put into making it!!
For real!
Very interesting. This is inspiring and could be done almost for free using polystyrene pellets and any old outer cylinder, and could be made almost any size. Obvious, but very inspirational. Lots stronger than a glass thermos flask, and better than a metal lined flask efficiency wise. Thanks for sharing, blessings.
Imagine having all those pieces of equipment in your workshop. I could by a lot of thermoses with the money I would spend bying that shop equipment.
@@InAHandBasket The thing is Linda, tools can make just about anything, not just thermoses. Tools are the means of production. A good workshop, like a well equipped kitchen is more valuable than gold and diamonds. (They are a waste of money for the sake of useless vanity.)
@@kenbellchambers4577 Having those tools is no doubt very useful however the title of the video makes it sound like it's something someone would actually do. Very few people would have the time and equipment to never throw away bottles so they could use them to make DIY thermoses. While watching the video I thought it was kind of crazy to go through all that trouble to make a thermos, not to mention having the supplies and tools on hand. The only thing I have is the aluminum foil and maybe a glass bottle. If you made them with the intent to sell them you would have some strong competition. I have two thermoses and I've had them for maybe 35 or so years. I don't even use them. I use my stainless water bottles which have enough insulation to serve their purpose. Still it is a very innovative idea and presentation. Just not what I would consider practical.
@@InAHandBasket The point that I was making is that tools are very useful. I have heard so many women refer to men's tools as 'boy toys'. Tools are not toys, and the men who build our roads, bridges, houses and do 95% of the dirty and dangerous jobs need good reliable tools. Now if I was to call lipstick, mascara, and padded bra's 'women's toys', that would be pretty accurate. (Or maybe the word 'bait' would be more accurate), because all of those items are designed to catch a man, preferably one who knows how to fix and build things.
PS, when I was six my mom bought me a thermos. On the very first day that I took it to school, I dropped it into the sink while trying to rinse it out, and it broke. That is one reason why using a glass jar rather than glass as thin as paper seems like a great idea. One day, we may find ourselves unable to buy these things, so why not learn how to make them? If you find yourself without a thermos one day, you can take any old jar, wrap it in foil, then wrap it with an old sheet or blanket, and your lemonade will stay cool all day, just using the simple methods shown in this video.
No, Styrofoam ® is actually LESS efficient than the negative air space between the walls of a well made thermos.
And glass lined? I thought they quit making those in the 1980s, perhaps not though. One never knows what cheap, outdated products the Chinese will dump on the world this week.
Just a tip when you holesaw plastic or foam like that, after the drill bit goes in cut the rest out on reverse it's a lot easier
Now that I learned the secret I just keep gathering more and more glass bottles -- I just can never make myself throw them away. I'm obsessed. Hellllp!!!!
Who in the hell would ever go to this much trouble and use 15 tools to save a glass bottle??? 🤣
That was fun to watch. I save my jars for mostly storage. Plastic breathes, glass doesn’t.
If you would've noticed that thermos on your workbench early on, you could've saved yourself a lot of work! Killer shop, by the way!
now that is funny!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why waste a day making one when you've already got one? More waste to fill the oceans.
I dont know why but glass jars ,bottles, boxes have always been into my collection. It looks classy and I dont throw them away
I keep glass jars because I can sterilize them with hot water
Cuz it's shiny and clear at the same time. Creates a magical environment, glass is magical!! I even get mad when my mom throws away like the Smuckers jam jar.... lol I'm like what is this doing in your garbage?!!?

After this video, I was inspired to do my own project. Mine requires glass bottles and a piece of rebar. Lay out the bottles and smash them with the rebar.

We had thermos bottles with glass liners back when I was a kid. They were great until you dropped them and the glass broke. Back then, even baby bottles were made of glass.
For those complaining about having their time wasted, this video is just obviously not for you.
