    An MD-80 is SIGNIFICANTLY louder than an A380 taking off. This must have been unbelievably loud. I recently watched an MD-80 take off of LAX 24L immediately followed by an A380 (I was standing in the park across from the In-n-Out). The difference was astonishing.

    Nice! And I bet that the pilot did that on purpose just to give the people the thrill they were looking for! He didnt really put it into a climb until well past the beach!

    I took the video. It was probably the biggest rush you could ever experience. I had prayed for them to keep low and my shadow shows my hand moving downward saying stay low. I captured it with a GoPro. There was only me and friend I had just met a minute prior to to this awesome takeoff. His camera failed 2 seconds in so this capture will be the only one available. I'm glad to share it and continuously feel the rush every time its played ! Thanks Insel !!

      +pushed40 Well, great job!!! It was amazing to see and especially taking off in that direction!! Yea, he was mighty low but what caught my eye was that the landing gear was already almost completely in!
      The only thing that would have been better than seeing this awesome vid...is to be there on that beach!!! :D
      Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great time!! Lucky guy, you!

      pushed40 Hi there Todd.
      I'm totally stoked for you!!! ..You're right, .right place, right time, everything turned out PERFECT!!!! And the capture is amazing and crystal clear!!! If that had been me....the whole thing would have been blurry. That is, IF I'd have even gotten the camera on in time!!! lol Great capture and I'm happy for you!! That must have been such a rush!!!!
      Take care of yourself. I hope you get some more great shots!!!

    • @towedarray7217
      @towedarray7217 7 лет назад +1

      Why don't you like MD80's? Good plane. For pilots that enjoy hand flying the plane and not letting AP do all the fun stuff it's these, 757s, 767s, 747s, and 777s (big time on that one) that I hear they enjoy flying a lot. Just bored by MD80's or what? Deep stalls are a risk with those more so than with others, but apart from that, what's your beef with the Mad Dog?

  • @rsteeb
    @rsteeb 8 лет назад +3

    Very cool! At ~30 seconds you can see the ground-effect pressure wave interacting with the ocean surface producing a visible wake!

    Awesome video. One would question why the PIC waited so long to rotate. One point of observation: What happened to the beach? I have seen many video's of the same spot with a sandy beach fading in to the ocean. It now appears to be lined with rocks where the land meets the water.
