    Does the E-tron GT get the D/S options on the shifter like the regular E-tron suv? And, if so, does it make any difference?

    • @biff2bart509
      @biff2bart509 3 года назад

      Yeah, just watched this video and I'm curious about this as well. S allows for 25% overboost in the regular E-tron SUV... A 4.01sec time is not that conservative given the official time is like 4.1 secs. Would expect something in the high 3s...

  • @olbtube

    Such consistency makes me suspect the car is artificially limited in acceleration at high SOC. Maybe something audi will unlock in an update when they have sufficient data about system behaviour and potential issues. What do you think?

  • @maximemineault8117
    @maximemineault8117 3 года назад

    You should do only 1 test like that with a cheaper car like the Nissan Leaf or something, just to put into perspective the difference of the 90-10% acceleration vs performances cars

    It's 100% to do with 800V architecture. When you run 800V vs 400V you only need to pull half the amperage from the cells (for the same power output), which is the limiting factor.

    • @EinzigfreierName
      @EinzigfreierName 3 года назад +5

      The maximum current from a singe cell is the same between 400 and 800V systems. The limiting factor COULD be the maximum current for the inverter. As the battery voltage drops to the end, the current needs to go up to provide the same power. As the inverter on a 800V systems has to handle only half the current it's probably easier and cheaper to give it some extra marging to handle this. But the limiting factor could as well be cell chemistry. We don't know :-)

    • @ShadowHolder748
      @ShadowHolder748 6 месяцев назад

      @@bjornnylandI know this is 2 years old but just bc 800V is hyped up does not mean it doesn’t have great benefits. Higher voltage means lower current for the same power, lower current means less heat so better thermal longevity and possibly even better lifespan. This is also what makes 800V the king of charging.

      I know that this video is two days old now, but I think this test was done incorrectly.
      Dynamic mode refers to handling: steering weight and chassis setup.
      Additionally, the driver should be able to select between "D" and "S" profiles. A couple of other posters mention this further up in the comments. "D" mode is "Drive" and this will have the standard amount of power available: 350 kW / 470hp and achieve the acceleration profile that is in this video.
      If you select "S" mode (by selecting "D" again, a second time), you engage overboost which will provide higher power of 390kW / 522hp for around 8-10 seconds. S mode usually also sharpens throttle response. If you are looking for max acceleration, you should be using S mode.
      I don't own this car, but this behaviour would be consistent with other Audis and in particular the e-tron SUV currently on sale.

  • @MBHockey

    Can't say i'm not disappointed with the 0-60 times. slower than even a stock RS3. my tuned RS3 is a lot quicker than the GT. I think VW missed the boat a little on making these cars, including the Taycan, not super quick. With several new EV trucks coming out (Rivian, Hummer, F150) that all do 0-60 on 3 seconds, this seems just too slow.

      @@pr7638 model 3 and y are fast up to150 km / h then the power curve drops a lot. this is due to it not having two gears like Taycan and etron gt.
      Model 3 performance = 7 sec to 150 km/h.. but also 7 sec 150-200.
      in 99% of all daily driving and racing, 150 km / h is enough. only on the long side of a race track or the end of 1/4 mile it is important. so must choose to be fast 0-150 or from 150-200.
