I did this onto a flat piece of wood once. It was a picture of my sister's dog, and the piece of wood still had bark on the edges. I put hooks along the bottom edge for his leashes, etc. 😊 She loved it!
no, it’s not the same. gesso is a primer which prepares the surface to receive paint. Gel medium (gloss or matte) is like acrylic paint without the colour. in essence it is like posh white/pva glue. It dries clear and is great for sticking and sealing things down.

My printer is inkjet so I can only do it on watercolour paper? Thank you 😊
