I understand it's a tournament setting, but if I played like this with my friends, I probably would not have enough friends after for another game. Still interesting to see Catan being played at such a level.
Lol, i played like this with my wife, she was winning so i negotiated with other to block her. She got sooo mad she didnt talk to me in the rest of the day. That was the first and last time i played like this with her.
The most impressive win I have ever seen. From such an abismal position in the early game, you put yourself in the best position to get lucky with every action you did. And you did get lucky, many times. But thats what it takes to win from positions that would be abandoned by other players. You got a mono, you had a great opportunity to use it, you got those 2 VPs that you needed. Anyway, huge huge props to you man, it is DyLightful to watch you play the game
I was playing as Blue this game as my first Catan tournament ever, and somehow made it to the semifinals vs DyLighted with only a month or two of Catan experience. He table talked us really well and played good! In the end, I really didn't like my position, hopefully, I'll have a chance for that rematch!
That was the greatest Catan game i've ever seen. I know you also talked on stream about ways to improve4 your commentary, and this was night and day better. Pacing, detail, truly a Gotham chess worthy commentary. Great Win
Wow you literally commanded red and blue like a sensei.. absolute miracles being worked here lol... Insane game. Best I've ever seen I think, it had everything!
Well, yeah. But essentially he made the table even with him, black and red. Blue was out, but red was very close as well. Pulling a VP was his only shot for the next rounds. While black and red had multiple ways to win
Fantastic video - a perfect combination of in-game discussion and post-game interjections to go into more depth. It provides entertainment and helps us viewers improve at the same time
This was the most impressive game I've seen you play! I was a bit concerned you were being too friendly with your trades with Red and Blue but it paid off!
Glad to see you're making content again. Hope it is still enjoyable for you. Liked the tip of using your own hand to easily track opponent cards better I hadn't heard that one before.
Looking forward to this video - Dylan always makes the greatest Catan content on the platform! One small critique off the bat; please leave a couple more seconds for us to pause the video during those 'What Would You Do?' segments before you tell us your answer.
Really thrilling content, also huge respect for keeping the up the fight against black! PS: cool, that you used Vivaldi - Winter at the end, some music is too good not to be used
Could you give another second or two between when you say "pause the video and try to figure X out"? I end up getting spoiled before I can hit the pause button
@@jandjhroco Black would rather go for 9 10 wood with port than plow White. Plus, if he plowed there, White could plow Black on the 8 3 Wheat on the other side.
On the turn you monopoly. After building a city (8 VP). You could have road built and traded the ores 3 for 1 twice for a road. road build (2) + 2 roads on board + 1 road is 5 roads getting longest road +2 VP and winning
What's the reasoning behind not cutting off black with your first road going to the 4-3? You said red made a mistake pointing to the 3:1 port first rather than going towards the contested spot then you did the same. I know you 3:1d at the very end but with all the trades you were doing with your sheep and wheat you didn't need the 3:1 early either. Instead left the 4-3 open for black to plow for a long time and get them onto ore which you said was dangerous when they did get it. Also the weakness of your set up was low ore to pair with wheat sheep and double settling on the 4 would've helped.
No one in that game deserved the win more than delighted. He had a good position at the start but got screwed almost out of the game till he got everyone to work together to stop black from winning. Ggs
41:15 can't you just 3:1 ore and brick for wood, build 2 roads, and then road building for 6 roads and win with 11 points? You could build above black.
I have a question When he had 9 points won't he had win if he hadn't made the city makes him at 8 and he saved 3 ore and 3 ore already in hand use them to 3:1 port for road and then road build and got the longest road
27:13 This was such an annoying moment to watch considering the alternative storyline was that neither of you have cities and black just runs away with the game, Comparing who has a better city when it's a blessing to have one in the first place.
I think that basically locks you out of sheep in am OWS-setup, as both blue and black are faster to the only sheep settling spot for you. Blue could easily get to the 11/6/3, and black would be one road faster to the 12/11/6. However, I admit it would probably no be their priority.
@@professorunicron What I think is crazy is that the official terms for the resources are lumber, brick, ore, grain, wool... who in the world says lumber ew

but other than that, great video. You had such a slow start, but never gave up, got the table to cooperate, and played a clutch mono. Excellent commentary/analysis! You're getting better at Catan & YouTubing. Keep it up man! 👍 GL at the finals. We're rooting for you.
I understand it's a tournament setting, but if I played like this with my friends, I probably would not have enough friends after for another game. Still interesting to see Catan being played at such a level.
My friends would just need to get better to keep up with me 😂.
Haha yea I wouldn’t do this with friends. This is just a cash tournament so everyone is trying to win
Even so at some point you might get good enough to understand most situations and look at it from a more objective standpoint and not an emotional one

I think cooperating with him still gave you your best shot at winning the game anyway. He gave some pretty generous trades.
That was awesome! Great to see the table work together, and that awesome pull at the end
you're killing it with these uploads, really helping me trough my exams

Awesome video Dylan. I love how you raise the bar for the community. Let’s go! 🎉
Watching Dylighted play is a true pleasure, loved the players working together this game.
Wow you literally commanded red and blue like a sensei.. absolute miracles being worked here lol... Insane game. Best I've ever seen I think, it had everything!
Straight up Jedi shit. Dylan was the bright spot on an otherwise cringe af table

wow, that was an amazing demonstration of epic table talk. Dylan, you could esily be a member of the council in the game of thrones!
Amazing game. You hustled a win out of the gutter, truly an inspiration!
I’ve watched all your videos and this has to be the game with the best execution so far. Incredible gameplay!

honestly stunned you won that game. Shows that table talk is the way people win.
I watch every video of yours Dylighted. This was one of your best games ever!!
You hustled like a boss. Well played!!
Fantastic comeback, the ending was cinematic. The editing is excellent as well
i barely play catan but even I can appreciate that this was nuts from start to finish. tabletalk + strategy was so impressive
Omg. I just rewatched your video about your first visit today. What a coincidence :D
Dylan's table talk game is next level. What a win.
Dylan this recent stream of videos has been awesome, thank you man!
have not watched it all yet but in DyLighted we trust
You chose... wisely.

Crazy how you managed to win this in the end!
So cool to see the games with faster and more nuanced table talk
What an awesome video!
The synchronized scream and mic echo at 40:30 had me cackling
Please bring more videos, I love watching them
Ha ha that was crazy! Nicely done
You’re literally a monster at coming back when the game is all but lost through table cooperation. Just nuts haha
Let’s go wish you luck in the finals 💥🔥
One of the best games I've seen.
31:45 you had the least production. They had 35, you had 33. Red miscounted
Or lied
would love to see more of this
This has to be one of the most goated games I've seen
That was actually so insane
I WENT OFF SO HARD WHEN YOU PULLED IT
As soon as you start doing complicated trades with Delyghted you know it's over 😂
I really thought you had no chance
Could you give another second or two between when you say "pause the video and try to figure X out"? I end up getting spoiled before I can hit the pause button
That was the most hype pull. I got way too into it 😂
Love the Vivaldi finish!
10:03 the future is now, old man
amazing video 🤩
Freaking amazing game. I think when Dylighted plays better players. We tend to get the full Dylighted in these games. Though I do love more content.
wow insane comeback
3:21 I'd point my road to the right. Settling on the 9 wood early is better than the 12 wheat with port.
You could easily get cut off by black who has much more wood and brick production
@@jandjhroco Black would rather go for 9 10 wood with port than plow White. Plus, if he plowed there, White could plow Black on the 8 3 Wheat on the other side.
@@Mephisto707 three for one port offers way more flexibility, and the chances are dylan will only need one expansion spot.
God damn this is a great video
What about the 9-10 wood for the second pick? Get the 3:1 immediately and can expand over to the sheep
You could’ve 1 at 38.16. You needed to build 1 city to get to 8. Then port 6 ore for 1wood,1brick to build a road+ road building to take road
you can't play dev cards the same turn you buy it and you can only play 1 dev card per turn
@@DyLightedCatan ohhhh you’re right! Oops!
Best video out there
Dylighted, I realised the missing piece to your current videos... you need the OG Intro Music!!!!

On the turn you monopoly. After building a city (8 VP). You could have road built and traded the ores 3 for 1 twice for a road. road build (2) + 2 roads on board + 1 road is 5 roads getting longest road +2 VP and winning
can you not build road past other players settlements? Is this why he didn't finish with road?
38:15 doesn’t roadbuilding + 1 road (6 ore at 3:1) make 5 roads for the win?
What's the reasoning behind not cutting off black with your first road going to the 4-3? You said red made a mistake pointing to the 3:1 port first rather than going towards the contested spot then you did the same. Also the weakness of your set up was low ore to pair with wheat sheep and double settling on the 4 would've helped.
I agree. That was the one mistake I think he made as well. But he would have to race red for it so he simply chose the safer option.
Amazing game! I learned a lot about extorsion, ups, I meant trading.
Great game and analysis
No one in that game deserved the win more than delighted. He had a good position at the start but got screwed almost out of the game till he got everyone to work together to stop black from winning. Ggs
41:15 can't you just 3:1 ore and brick for wood, build 2 roads, and then road building for 6 roads and win with 11 points? You could build above black.
I don't play competitive Catan, so if settlements block the longest road, I wasn't sure. My bad if that's the case.
Settlements do block longest road. So pulling for the vp was his only option once black took his expansion spot
4 roads on 12 wheat and one road to 11-6 is 5 roads?
I have a question
When he had 9 points won't he had win if he hadn't made the city makes him at 8 and he saved 3 ore and 3 ore already in hand use them to 3:1 port for road and then road build and got the longest road
New to the game, but production at 32:08 . You are far behind everyone, it isnt 33-33 ?! Or how to count it ?
27:13 This was such an annoying moment to watch considering the alternative storyline was that neither of you have cities and black just runs away with the game, Comparing who has a better city when it's a blessing to have one in the first place.
that was amazing
9:43 the story of my life in catan
I would have taken 5 4 8 road right aswell, i’m getting more i to catan and i’m top 300 atm
Nice game! I love it! 😊
I still can't believe what I just saw :)
Can you give some more tips for tracking? I can never remember what people have.
Play 1000 games and you’ll naturally develop it.
@@DyLightedCatan How about playing fewer than 1000 games to develop it? :)
I would've put the 2nd settlement on the 9 10 wood, get the 3:1 port, and build to the 2:1 wood port
