One of the very first bows I got was one that my luthier and cello teacher told me that it was the best in his shop so I bought it. ( of course I heard him play with it) and indeed it was way better than the cheap bow he provided for me ( I was a complete beginner) but over the years that I’ve had this bow, I struggled with it. Got sore at times just playing a complete short piece! I then realized that the bow was just heavy so I trade it in for a more manageable one.

Indeed Monica, the research for the right bow can take such a long time. A too heavy bow is never good. Right now I am playing on a quite heavy bow, it’s good for some things. But for special bow strokes, it makes it more difficult. Although the heavy bow feels great to play the Swan 😃

Thank you ever so much. As a new player that began in their fifties, your videos have been invaluable, especially these technique breakdowns. Thank you very much for the time you put into developing them. Also loving the Feuillard series.
