Clay, I don't think I'd be in this hobby if it weren't for all your guides and videos. When I'm gainfully employed again, I will be donating to the site and buying all the TOP DVDs to try to repay you.
First of your vids I have seen. I love your test board. Good advice, and I know it took plenty of time to put together! Gottleibs can be tricky if you are used to bally and Williams.
Good Video. Very informative. I restore vintage Televisions from 1946 - on. I always had a soft spot for those old EM type pinball machines from the early-70's. Especially Gottlieb. They just felt better. I'd love to get one.
Thanks for doing this, Clay. Can you explain how they got the 4vdc and 8vdc off the small transformer? I always thought an AC transformer couldn't put out an on purpose dc current. Possibly something accidental, but not stable? Bill
Thank You! I just got a Genie, and was able to follow this video until the 9:10 mark. At that point my game is doing the tilt flicker. I made sure that the tilt was closed and I can't find any other obvious issues. do I need a new CPU?
CFHATPROVIDEDOTNET, why did the older pinball power supplies only use ONE filter cap rated at 27,000uf very high capacitance because most power supplies use multiple filter caps rated at 100uf, any reasons why? Older pinball games used AC coils & solenoids and switched over to DC coils & Solenoids any reasons why?
I love pinball but watching something like this completely puts me off wanting to buy a game. If something went wrong I would have no idea how to fix it lol
Question. I've got the same power supply on a Buck Rogers that I'm trying to get going. I'm not even getting 1 volt where I should be getting 5 and get nothing where I should be getting 4. All other voltages are good, any thoughts on what's going on with mine?
Can't thank you enough Clay. You've helped me more times than I can remember.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Well done. What is the adapter you have plugged into the game PROM socket?

Very good idea..
I'll have to refer back to this if I ever get an EM pin. :)

What is they are higher like .665 for one? of the bridge rectifier?
Specs for the bridge rectifiers say they have a 0.7V maximum forward voltage drop so this should be OK.
Argh -- typical 1V maximum with 0.7V typical.
