Maybe turn the kitty bathroom 90 degrees with the opening toward the locker and have the opening closer to the locker to keep the pup out. When we had cats I remember without much fondness of them bringing their catches to us...then letting them go!
Adding baking soda to the cat litter helps to really control the smell. The cat looks very content. ❤️

Extremely clever idea to keep the dogs from eating the cat poo... and food.
For us, I turn the catbox opening toward a corner or against the wall, just enough that the cats can still get inside, but it provides that extra protection against the persistent poop muncher of a dog we have. I will then put the box behind something, like a recliner, facing the corner of a room. I'm thinking about doing something like the cafe box, though, because the cats fling foot when they eat for some reason, and the dog won't stay out of that, either.
Great idea if you have a larger dog. My dog is "cat size". Hopefully your cat will help to take care of your mouse problem. My cats seemed to have contributed to my mouse problem by bringing live mice into the house and letting them go! I tried telling them it really wasn't necessary to share their bounty with us.

I have a cat-sized dog as well. I'm still looking for a solution to the cat box situation.
That would never have worked for us because our dog was the same size as the cats. After the dog passed we got an other cat so problem solved. Hope the little guy is fixed and becomes the great mouser you want. I'm sure God will bless your cat as he has blessed you and your family.

Cats are always such a tossup with regards to whether or not they will go after mice. Some do, some categorically refuse, some even get frightened by much smaller critters. It's one of those mysteries, right next to the "why do cats like to sit in boxes so much" one.
i heard the smell of a cat will keep mice out tho, idk if it's always true however

You don't need a cat just so he or she can eat rodents. Cats are more than leaving them outside where there is danger like diseases and predictors. Cats kill wild life like birds as well. Poor baby kitty, you are having him for all the wrong reasons and your daughter even feels bad she can't always have her furball baby in the house like most children would like. Kids like to play with cats and sleep with or have their cats sleep on their lap. CATS ARE MORE!! THEY ARE FAMILY!!😡😡😡. By the way cats do not like their litters being confined even they still use their litter box boxed in with a lid my goodness. It seems like you made more convenient for you than for the cat and your daughter. Go check Jackson galaxy videos on you and other good videos of people that can show you how to treat a cat much better than you are treating yours. Kibble you are feeding your cat is not appropriate and the wet food you are feeding kitty is made by -products. It is one of the worst wet food. Both food you are feeding your beautiful kitty. Has no nutritional value. I just hope you didn't adopt this poor just to work for you instead of making kitty a family with all the rights he or she has like you. Try putting a small fence barrier where your dig cannot eat kitty's food or poop. I hope you are also feeding your dog with appropriate dog food. Humane food for both dog and cat. I hope you keep your cat, dog and your child safe if you going to live in the woods. My prayers for all three the cat , dog and little girl. 😔😔😔
