Vallejo has been my favorite ship I have gotten for steel. It feels unique. It is open water and like most light cruisers it can be unforgiving. I like the balance of the ship.
Salem is pretty fun played bloke that. I imagine it'll be similar, but with better gun velocity. It's a ship I want, but it takes so long to get steel and it's not top of the list.
I may have got the wrong end of the stick with the side topic of French battleships, but for anyone wondering: - Normandie was laid down with quad turrets because French manufacturing couldn't produce larger guns at the time, so they opted for quantity. These wre cancelled mid-construction and Bearn was turned into a CV. -Lyon was a planned enlarged version of Normandie that never saw light of day. -Picardie in game is a fictional version of Lyon with smaller guns, not sure why (WG?). - Dunkerque is pretty much a battlecruiser built to combat the Deutchlands, though it was designed a battleship by the French. - Strasbourg is a half sister of Dunkerque, and is more a battleship in terms of armour - comparable to previous French battleship anyway. - The Richelieu Class is Frances big new battleship in the late 1930s / early 1940s (consists of 2 Richelieu and Jean Bart). - Clemenceau is was the third Richelieu under construction and had a slightly modified design - some consider it a sub-class (not in game and wasn't finished). - Gascogne is the last of the Richelieus. The French had second thoughts about the all forward layout and decided to try a more traditional layout. There's a lot of debate about if this was a good choice or not, but it wasn't finished regardless. - Champage is a fictional version of Gascogne under a fictional scenario that France buys Soviet 16" gun turrets. It's weird and random and completely fictional. -Republique in game is completely fictional also and assumes after Alsace France could go for another Gascogne style ship. It's kind of out of nowhere and a WG fabrication. - Alsace was Frances next planned class of battleship. This was still in early planning stages when the war broke out and France didn't even have the infrastructure to support these yet. It was way behind the Lions in terms of construction and could well have been cancelled ir reduced in size. -Bourgogne is just a fictional 2nd Alsace in game. French shipbuilding was behind the curve for the late 19th and early 20th century due to policy decisions made in the mid-19th century. They were playing catch-up through WW1 and the interwar period and were often a generation behind everyone else when it came to battleships. Everything preceding Dunkerque would most likely lose to most equal counterparts (apart from the Españas) in a fair fight, but that doesn't make them useless. Bretagne is a good looking ship in my opinion though.
Maybe also worth knowing about Lauria is that her SAP still overmatches 30mm like her AP does and won't riccochet on most cruisers for that reason (especially older ones Like Zao, Des Moins or Hindenburg). Another (IMO stupid thing) is, that cruiser with less than 114mm of citadel armor like Mino, Brisbane, Jinan, Austin and Smolensk will actually get citadelled by the SAP ... which got a higher Alpha than the AP shells and they won't overpen or bounce. This thing is just a Thanos snap for ultralights.
Got the Austin when the coupon reset. I am loving this ship. In the middle of grinding the Pan-Asian cruiser line, noticed that both the Sejong and the Jinan use the same hull and excited to get them too!
It really is dumb. Got comfortable in it right away. I get now why it can be so devastating in the right hands. Hit the funny button and I just start laughing as I watch hit points melt away from the poor person on the other end.
I'm only here for one thing today - and that was Lauria. Putting it out of sequence, unkind Sir! Unkind... But good Antipodean accent for Eraser(??) in the Bourgogne section (Bourgogne... my sweet, sweet Bourgogne). That was an Antipodean accent right? Well done Sir, well done!!! The Antipodean accent is usally a challenge for our rebellious cousins and that was a fine rendition.
It wasn't on purpose! I made the graphics before they officially released Ruggiero di Lauria. Glad you found the section for RdL. Re: My Eraser impression, thanks.
Regretted my z42 purchase when I purchased, now I love it and have a fairly good WR on her. Those burst smokes with the Hydro combo catches so many dd’s off guard.
Unlike most people, I do not like Bourgogne. It's accuracy doesnt impress me for a steel ship and its not very acclimated to how my matches go(i.e. being able to take large amounts of he). I actually regretted getting it and I wished I got something like a stalin or something unique like incomp, shiki, or mecklenberg with their uniqueness. With getting Wisconsin, I do not see a place for this ship except for the one in a year game just for filling a role in a div.
Austin is one I can speak on pretty extensively. Got it a month ago, have put 250 battles into it already because I adore it. Austin thrives in opportunities. If you are firing at other cruisers (minus petro and a few of the tank ones), british BB's, french BB's and any DD with SAP, you will MELT them. Any of the tankier ships, like Montana's, GK's, Preussen, etc.... you go for fire starting, bait them into damage control and then when it's on cooldown you spin up the reload booster and starting 1-3 perma fires. If someone gets brave enough to push you, that's when those torps come in handy. Also as you're moving from position to position, you can launch your torpedoes down high traffic lanes and because of their unusual (for US ships) speed and range, they do fairly well. It's also amazing to go into a match and ask the DD's to pair up with you and get a smoke from them and help them contest and decimate a cap so they can be safe as your smoke firing penalty is almost DD level. They love that I can chase away most cruisers as well, so that gives them free reign to go after the battelships. AA cannot be understated either, this thing DECIMATES aircraft. I've had Malta's come after me when I have my DFAA up and wiped out entire squadrons of planes and it's such a joy to watch.
I hope you're happy Clyde, i spent 8 hours writing a document about all the resource ships in the game for my clan. Fun fact: There's 1 more steel ship than RB ships.
I'm pretty sure war gaming chooses carefully what ships they make steel ships and what ships they make coal etc, etc. They need to give these ships the fictitious value based on the currency you spend on them. Something about the ships abilities make it special and they all have a powerful component that gives them an edge.
Oh yeah? I'll have to dig into this one a bit more! I'm interested in these little subtleties when we see ships with armor profiles modified from ships we've already got in the game.
FDR shines late game. Its great, but the rocket nerf and the cooldown between strikes are the biggest turn offs. Add Malta and Nakhimov being better overall, i would recommend to use your steel on another bote. My favorite is Mecklenburg.
I have 7 out 13 Steel ships , in order I get those Burgugone , Shikishima , Stalingrad , Incomparable , Plymouth , Mecklenburg , Gato I have now 20.054 steel + cupon , and I will go for Ragnar , I could wait month and get new Italian BB, but Ragnar is good & OP , WG might remove it .
I don't get why people recommend Shiki or Stalingrad. If you have a crap ton of steel or only play CB sure get stalinrad. Otherwise, get the yamato from tech tree, it's a sidegrade of shiki, and get the petropavlovsk, almost a stalingrad. I'm about to get my first steel ship and I have 3k+ battles, buying Stalingrad or Shiki would be an absolute waste of steel.
Got Lauria with my steel and so far it's been worth it. I like playing Polo so Lauria feels pretty easy to handle already, even if it is pretty damn long (and has a worrying tendency to eat 5k+ salvos in the rear from heavy cruiser AP...), and some of the salvos i've had out of it have been filthy. Nothing on the level of vermont or ohio erasing some cruisers from existence, but still very good damage. Even used it in clan battles and got a win in it. overall it was worth the wait to get it again after that stupid event. now bring back the ranked/clan token camos for something people can actually buy them for weegee
Yeah, I think Lauria is a reliable ship, that will be popular with a small group of people who can make it work without getting tOo beat up. She's more interesting to me than Incomp or Shiki for sure.
@@ClydePlays incomp is too inconsistant for my liking, and then weegee kinda kneecapped it by releasing Vincent right after it.
