All I needed to do the upgrade was a bench vice, a 7/16” 15” threaded rod, a block of wood with a 1/2” hole in the center, a 1” x 3.5” x 1/4” piece of aluminum with a 1/2” an offset center hole, a 2” PVC pipe coupler, a washer or two, and a 7/16” nut (all things I had sitting around the house); plus a primary clutch puller (definitely recommended). Remove clutches. Clamp the rod into the vice, slip the wood over the rod (to cushion the delicate clutch parts), slip the clutch onto the rod, place the 2” PVC coupler on (fits perfectly over secondary bell - holding down collar), next the metal plate (offset hole allows easier viewing when reassembling primary), washer(s), and nut; good to go!
Thanks for the video, that's really helpful! I would like to point out that there is only at max 250 lbs, maybe and I mean maybe 300lb on that spring. You could safely do this job witha low grade#8 bolt if long enough, they can hold over 500lb. 3/8 low grade threaded rod/bolt can hold over 3000lbs, giving you a 10x safety margin. 1/2" is way overkill at 5800lbs.
Could you explain a little more into clutching? I ended up going with a 48/44° Helix on my TM7 a couple years back because i was unhappy with the lack of bottom end. It had a straight 46 in i, (if I remember correctly), it was a little better. The primary is simple and fairly straight forward primary engagement is based off of how stiff your spring rate is. Weight is based off of what power you can pull (elevation and conditions dependent). Then the secondary is where i always get confused with the helix and spring...
Mine was verry simaler to what you made, like the vice mount angle iron.....how about coil over shocks. I have used some really makeshift scary rigs to compress them to get the shocks out.. ever had much fun making sompthing for that?
Great video! Speaking of clutches, I have a 2017 zr8000 (trail pony) with a failing primary and secondary. Factory primary is 750 USD, would I be better off getting after market? If so, any suggestions? Any input would be great.
Im sure i toasted my primary clutch Arctic cat m1000 Would u happen to know some one that might have 1 lol Going to be in sicamous tomorrow Found 1 in lumby a complete 1 for $750 Is that a good deal From rual Nakusp I would love to take u sledding around here we got mad snow dude

Factory Team ones work great !
How about making a clutch holder for a ski doo tra clutch?
Great video Ricky , nice COVID mask , are you getting Digit9 graph (mask) soon? - Jeremy Martin . 😎
We have those !!
teespring.com/new-digit9-sledders-face-mask?tsmac=store&tsmic=digit9&pid=972&cid=103943
Would a hydraulic press work to compress it?
Too much power bud !
Why wouldn't a threaded rod with nuts and big washers work? Why the angle iron?
Angle iron holds better in a vice !
Imagine this would work on my non team clutch on my 2014 xf8000 to?
Yup , it should ?
Same concept , might have to tweek it a bit to fit helix ?
Roughly how long should the threaded rod be?
18”
Great vid thx
Thank u
No problem
Im sure i toasted my primary clutch
Arctic cat m1000
