I did it Bruce, I didn’t watch your last video until you released your next one and now I get to have a mini binge watch with two videos!
Bruce. you can weld repair the cast bracket. drill where the bolt goes and fit a steel bush, loose finger push fit.
heat up the cast iron bracket to spit bounce hot and braze in the bush with a brazing filler rod . you wont have a problem
if you do it right. I've been round a while and and done this stuff before. now retired and enjoy watching.
Cheers, keep on keeping us amused some of it cracks me up LOL
When you put the headache rack on dont forget to put something like cloth exhaust tape between the rack and frame to reduce the corrosion between the steel and aluminum before you U bolt it down.
Or old conveyor belt
A piece of cargo strap works good.
Old flexible mud flap
What’s it a “ rack “ for ? I think it looks pathetic , and doesn’t serve any real purpose ,
@@fulltimber if you were a trucker you would know.
I'm glad that someone still rebuilds alternators, that is a truly lost art.
I'm so happy your channel is continuing to explode because of this awesome series. Congrats on the success so far bud, here's to more progress.
I been trying to keep track, everytime he posts a video I check on subscriber count, seems to add around 2-8k subs a day. Pretty good! More cab over content will mean more subscribers!
@@B0xlife1 That's incredible! I can't imagine Bruce knew that a Cab-over would help his channel this much.
Tractors helped a bunch to
Problem number one.

This old Cabover is coming out Mighty nice guys 👍😁👍
I love watching an old truck come back to life..
The new wheels and tires give the cab over a great look👌
"Zero chance" thats some famous last words right there bro 😁
Yeah like some of the others have commented, you're doing a nice job polishing up the old turd but there are likely many, many mechanical issues lurking that will start popping up as soon as you start putting a few miles under her. Good deal that you did brakes and wheel seals but there are so many more things that need attention as well. Trust me, I've put old tired, or retired, trucks and equipment back into service that hadn't sat nearly as long as this one did and there's no end to the repairs required. You need to run the overhead and probably just as well go ahead and take the fuel pump to a pump shop and have it rebuilt before it lets you down. The air compressor is a ticking time bomb. The last old rig I put back on the road had the power steering pump go out in short order, the steering gear started leaking, the steering cylinder started blowing oil out. It needed thermostats. The fuel lines started leaking. All the air lines had to be replaced. Still has a pinion seal out on one of the rears. Foot valve started sticking and brakes wouldn't release. Clutch brake went out. Headlights quit coming on. Turn signals still don't work right. Air seat started leaking down. Air valve on the transmission started leaking. Air dryer started short cycling. I could go on......
So you're saying "sell it?" LOL You can get a running, legal truck for $4k (just saw 10 beat but reliable Sterling's go at a retirement auction for 4-6k$)... with a fuel efficient and reliable D60 with a couple hundred thousand left to go.... or drop $10k on a total piece with a ton of seals and hoses and bearings and yeah.... on and on, and always be sure of a breakdown coming soon. Not a good business model unless you don't actually have to haul anything/make $ and don't need to get from A to B, then it sounds like fun.
Get a coolant filter with liner additive to protect the liners, Bruce I did the exact same thing you are doing to an 88 cabover Freightliner. I ran that truck hauling bottle water, other dry van loads, drove it from Virginia to Penn same exact engine you got there. One morning in sub zero weather all the new trucks computers had all the trucks shut down here comes that guy in that old cabover truck never missed a beat. I stopped because it is hard to make money. Still have the truck, watching these videos is like deja vu. I love that you are restoring history. How is the clutch fan on the coolant fan? Is it stuck in the on position? or is it coming on and off? just unhook the air lines from it put pressure on and off to it to see if it is coming on or off usually pressure puts them on, most time the will stick in the on position. Will be critical when fixing air conditioner fan will come on when you put air condition on. You may have one were air pressure disengages it, You don't want to drive around with the fan on all the time, noisy and lowers fuel mileage. I had to put a new fan clutch in mine. There are 2 bolts on the fan drive that are slotted loosen them and then there is a big bolt that goes strait up and down to adjust it, the whole fan drive will slide up and down for adjustment, I have seen it were the fan will start to hit the shroud when they get really bad. If you lay on top of the engine and look down over the front sometimes it gives you better access. Your doing a better job at it than I did, I fixed a lot on the go. Go get that other cab over.
Hidden engine issues, lol.More like simple basic maintenance. You probably should pull rocker cover and set valve lash, injector timing and change those injector orings before you end up with a sump full of diesel.
Yeah the whole thing needs went through to be honest.
@@calebm7133 Yeah, he needs to go through the whole engine and not just slap a coat of paint over possible future problems.
Thank god someone said it
I see it time and time again on youtube. Cosmetics first then broke down and back out to pasture saying beyond repair.
This whole "build" makes me cringe. But kind of fun to watch I guess
I'd change the water pump and all the belts, hoses and anything else that would be weak from sitting so long
Yeah, like the cylinder liners for instance....
The pullies should have the rust pitting removed because pitting chews up belts
@@bobmorris9687 yes things can get pretty expensive if he's luck is anything like mine if he doesn't do it he will be sitting beside the road broke down. Sitting for 20 years can do a lot of unseen damage

love that your fixing the old girl i started driving truck in 1978 mostly transtars them damn fuel pumps.left me stranded in nebraska one night cab jacked cab up and got surrounded by 7 coyotes..i sleep facing down in cab jacked up till te sun came up and waved a pickup down no cellphones then...keep up the good work i had the 400 cummins in mine 79

I am so happy for your channel continue to do it can't whate to see the outcome
when i see engine at first time i'm not interesting but since tried to fix my old motorcycle time to time, really surpize how the engine works, turns out to be more complex than i thought, that's changed my mind
yeah now i got another passion
Call the parts truck "Mud Flap"
Mud flap fuck yea good name
Call pos.its. Japanese good american.
Mud Flap is a good name for my old truck
Yes Great name!
M.A.G.A. .... just for grins and giggles.
LOVE THE PROGRESS. KEEP IT COMING!!!!
Nice video🥰 always fun to watch your videos, dont stop making videos like this. It’s an good reson to stay up late, good video to get inspired of
Polish up that headache rack!
Or paint it too
I reckon he owes Iceman a tidy sum already.
Waiting to put my sunglasses on after those fuel tanks are polished
Call the "parts truck" the "PUDDLE JUMPER"!!
DIRTY30 I was to until he said he was gonna paint them!
@Buddy Wiser as long as it is still mounted securely and not leaking, yes.
Parts truck “Santa” always bringing gifts
Love watching the rebuilding of this truck!
Florida man strikes again with using garden hose for coolant lines.
You know that's not really garden hose, right? Gates makes a high silicon, heavy duty hose and they make it in green so you can tell the difference.
Boi just got r/woooosh'd
@@joshuafuller9898 I am fully aware, there should have been a /s in there.
What a headache 🤕!
This entire effort to restore this particular tractor is a colossal clusterfuck. Dumb & Dumber really need to create a prioritized list of steps to be taken in their misguided quest. I think it would make a great boat anchor or better yet a piece of hillbilly yard art.🤠
Glad everything is ok with y’all
Looking really good. Wheels and tires with new lug nuts are on point.
Quality watching bud, living the best life enjoying what you do... all the best.
Ah finally, the only reason I'm staying up late
Well keep up the good job polish the head ache rack and remember the sun visor and the bumper
LOL
SomeGuyWithAChannel Luckily I can watch it while having breakfast
Lots of love (LOL).

Dude, it needs straight cut stacks with rain caps! It’s a cab over, rain caps all the way!
Ghostrider304 Heck Ya I love the look of rain caps
InTo The Shop, I just think a cab over should have rain caps, on a big cam cummins that clanging at idle would sound so awesome!

Proud of the new rubber are we?! 🤩 Looking good!😳 The Toyota...Thumper! I actually like the cab guard...will look better all polished.
Needs some mud flaps for the rear
Yeah, I wouldn't want to be driving behind it throwing rocks up 😂
Get some chrome lug nut covers and hub covers for the end of the axles and steer wheels. Rands chrome shop, big rig chrome shop, Iowa 80,75 chrome, empire chrome. It will look even better
Thanks for filming
Man so glad to see your channel just all of a sudden blow up!! So happy for you bro

Now if only it had w 692 detroit in it

Bruce: Gets unpolished aluminium headache rack
Ice Man: Wants to know your location
I can't wait to see the Interior work.
Man, it's looking good! You've come so far. It's going to be sad when it's all over really. Lol
Ahhh, well here's a good reason to be up at quarter after 1.
Thanks for all the hard work guys, seeing this all come together has been so awesome.
Seized up pulley is most likely what made the belt melt
Exactly
Need to put some rubber between the aluminum legs on the headache rack and the fame.
You can also build your dual exhaust system to the headache rack if you cant find a driver side bracket.
Nice job.
Can’t wait for the stacks!
Call the parts gotta “The Brick “ as in the colour of a house brick.
"better be safe then sorry...always use protection" *held back snicker*
nice job bruce you got me interested in my old stuff
Sweet video. Was looking forward to seeing it started again.
The name for the parts getter should be “Gofor” as in go for this or go for that.
Cannot wait to see this cabover finished and running! I'm hooked.
Hey Brother trucker, I used to drive cabovers and long conventionals. My first truck was a 1964 Diamond REO cabover. But anyway I wanted to say it would really look really good if you sand them tanks down And polish them that would bring that truck out. Your tires and wheels look awesome. Dual Chrome Stacks with actually set that truck off. Big wide Kenworth type front bumper would really look good. Just a little suggestion. Truck is really looking awesome
Esta quedando precioso ese XL excelente me encanta como se ve... Los felicito x gran trabajo que están haciendo saludos....
It's good that you chose duel 6" stacks instead of over compensating with 8" stacks.
@Buddy Wiser that's what she said
The step up ladder looks like a head hazard. I’d belt my head every time i turned around I recon.
AWSOME TRUCK REALLY LOOKS AMAZING !!...the parts pickup !!...THE PINK PANTHER 👍
I literally stayed up till 1am waiting 😂 think it went up at like 1:08 😩😂😂😂 Yo Bruce your killin me with these 11 pm to 1am uploads . A dude gotta work but I also need my fix . 😂 Keep it up shes lookin mighty thick !
The Dynamo you took of was brushed, the Alternator is brushless.
Year why would you go from brushless to brushed 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
Came here just to see if anyone else picked up on that :)
Brushless is better, more power.
@@farnsworthfarms7340 You wouldn't go from Brushless to Brushed, Bruce just mixed up the two.
Looks like the previous owner was not dedacated to general maintance for a while.
Impressed. Truck is looking good.
I could watch this for hours, love shit like this.
Name idea for the Toyota: Tommy- The Little Engine That Might

I'm late to the party but binge watching these has been great. Hello from Scotland.
Coming along very nice... good job 👍
How about keeping it in the family and name it “Meatpacker”.

Didn't someone give you an engine manual and parts list?
Name the parts getter truck “Clifford”
Ronald Rush the Tacoma?
February 13-15. 2020 Leesburg,FL antique truck show at the International-Harvester museum. Hopefully you guys can make it.
Now that's what I call a semi. Y'all did an amazing job with it, cant wait to see it rolling
@Buddy Wiser Is "Twin Screw" politically correct anymore ?? LOL
that would have been my first thing to check, the engine. Now you already sunk how much money??? But watching you learn youngin. Good luck.
Disagree he has plenty of access to Parts! The motor could be bad, and it would not matter. Yes I would have checked the engine first but the amount of money he's sunk into it has nothing to do with it
@@themechanic185 no problems.

S7 SCOPES I’ve seen the video. Just thought it was funny
Loving it!
Good work Bruce 👍💪👍
The little Toyota truck should be named "Junior".
i would think the alternator bracket is cast steel, but even if it is cast iron any half assed welder can weld it.
Great work Bruce , I'm considered Too old to drive a big Rig ( 73 ) , Man I'd love to be back on the road , never tried U S A , Oz has been my stomping ground !
Tires look so good!
“Red rocket” good parts runner
“Mini me”
Excelente trabajo amigo. Está quedando zarpado. 👏👏👏💪💪💪
Good work guys.
That is called an alternator my friend.
No kidding. I kept cringing every time he said generator.
It’s not uncommon to be calling it a generator, when I was a diesel mechanic in the army they was big on calling alternators generators. Don’t know where it came from but weird indeed
The reason they call them generators is bc that is what they used to be called. They didnt make alternators way back when. And yes back in the 80's when that truck was built they were called generators then some too. Not alot but some still were
Generator, alternator same damn thing. I'm not surprised he uses the word generator considering he works on old tractors and that's what they would call them.
the one he pulled of was a generator not a alternator, the new one is a alternator, but that big old one he pulled was a classic generator.
“Pooter”; name for the Tacoma
Nice polishing etc ICEMAN! Legend 👍🦘🇦🇺
Hits his finger with the sledge. Bet that hurt, I'm jealous! 🤣
What’s up man. 1##
Did it mute at 2:18 for anybody else
Yeah
Frost 08 probably copyright music during the clip
Have fun with those battles
Worked on many of those ole 855’s. The alternator bracket was bad to work loose on those. If the holes in the bracket were egg shaped they would work loose again. We fixed them by putting in larger bolts. We used steel threadcerts (not helicoils) for the larger bolts in the block. The sttel held up better than the cast block.
the Toyota... "The Shitter Mcgiter" 🤷♂️😬😬😬
Eric brown I love
I would go with flappers on the exhaust instead of the miter-cut
Flappers are awesome and in keeping
I think miter looks a lot more badass and the tractor flaps look dumb
first truck I drove was a ih cabover, love the build up smaller fueltanks will make the frame look longer, and you gain a restroom
Awesome progress
“3 Spoke Joke” for the Toyota 😂
For the parts truck, maybe “Tiny Taco”? It’s an itty bitty Tacoma after all.
Tiny fish, it japanese not Mexican. Lol
But Taco is a recognized nickname for a Toyota Tacoma. Maybe fish taco then?
E muito bom ver a restauração desse caminhão.
