At about 19:00 Jacob says no other company was doing the microphone into auto DSP thing for car audio. Alpine did it in the late 90s with the PXA-H600 and PXA-H510 where you would plug the mic in and it would auto setup using white noise.
Also the H700. Jacob was barely born around this time so he may simply not be familiar with the older designs. I never bothered buying a microphone and trying it with my H700 because every person I heard from said that it did a very lousy job of auto setup.
Hi Mike, you can use as many KEY200.4s as you need! You'll just need each KEY200.4 isolated while running the Auto Setup. So only have the outputs active for the KEY200.4 being setup at that time.
I have the Harman kardon system in my Dodge charger 392. But i have changed all my speakers, and it still has the factory amp will the kicker key improve the sound ?
If you're going to be replacing the factory amp with the KEY200.4 amp, then the answer is yes! Even without KICKER speakers, it's still a perfect setup for the KEY200.4.
I have a 24 Toyota Grand Highlander with JBL audio. I want to use the key to power the front stage. The JBL has separate channels for tweeter, mid and woofer up front. The tweeter doesn't have the 4 wires like most Toyota...just 2. How do i setup the bi amp for 3 way?
In previous comment it's stated that the key 200/4 is rated for 4 ohms. In my Ford Bronco I'm running the front channel to power the left and right forward speakers. 2 speakers per side wired in parallel. Should I change each side of the left and right front speaker wiring to series?
That's a good question. I looked over the manual and it does say each channel should be wired to a minimum of 4 ohms. Maybe it can be wired to 2 ohms, but it won't put out any additional power? It seems like it's working in your case. Does it feel like it's overheating at all? Hopefully Kicker can respond with an official statement.
Given the dynamic nature of music, the load being put on an amp varies widely from moment to moment, as does the amount of heat the amplifier experiences. All this being said explains the reason a 4 ohm amp still works with a 2 ohm setup. Officially, yes, your amp should be wired to 4 ohms.
An off topic question. I was looking at the Kicker Bronco and it looks like you have a 8 channel KX based amplifier on the side door locations. Is that a KXMA Marine 8 channel amp that you've changed the colors on to make it match the KXA amps?
The KEY200.4 is meant to power factory speakers or a modest aftermarket system. Without a passive crossover working with the mid/tweeter, there is no way for the DSP to do its job. Also, the amp in the KEY200 is designed for 4 ohms. Wiring two drivers in parallel would be inadvisable. The problem with using two KEY 200's is the DSP, which is the major value built into the amp. They have to tune sequentially to determine time alignment and EQ/crossover values. Without a way to "talk" to the other amp, the DSP setting would be incorrect in relation to one another.
@@JasonWW2000 thanks cause I don’t think kicker actually answered my question🤣, I guess ima run a 2 way front stage with the kicker key and run rear fill off the deck

Absolutely right. The big difference is the level of corrections the KEY engages in, and the difference in price was...significant.

Hey guys can I use 2 kicker keys 200.4? One for my doors and one for my a-pillars? I never see anyone using multiple ones, thanks

Exactly right. The amps on the side are custom-badged marine amps. Otherwise, they are completely stock.
Can I run 2 of the key 200.4 so I can get a full front stage 3 way active?

So it seems like, no. The closest you could come would be to use a passive crossover between the tweeter and medium sized mid.

@@KICKER-AUDIO so do you recommend this to run a 2 way that is rated at 70 watts rms per side, also can I run this amp to a aftermarket headunit?
@@smTalibanThe key amplifier can easily work with an aftermarket head unit. It's 50w x 4 which is a good match for most speakers.
Extremely disappointing the 4 channel amp can't handle a 2 ohm load.
