    Great video as usual.
    1. Should I set my crossover first on the my DSP then set the Gain Input on my Kicker Cxa1200.1?
    Or
    2. Set the DSP open all the way on the signal (low pass on full range). Set the Gain on the amplifier, then go back and set the Crossover point?
    Or
    3. Do I need to calculate for voltage drops for the Octave that I am using when setting the Gain?
    If the answer is yes for question 3 PLEASE Explain in detail what I need to do set my Kicker Amp gain with the Voltage Drop.
    OEM HU - ALPINE DSP - Kicker CXA 1200.1 is the flow.
    Thank you

      They are separate factors. Setting the gain is made to ensure you don't send too hot/clipped of a signal to the amp. The crossover is designed to limit the frequency range of the sub, so it doesn't play frequencies it wasn't deigned to.

    What specs should I look for in a amplifier to know if it is going to be considered a “higher quality sound” ? Thanks

    • @KICKER-AUDIO
      @KICKER-AUDIO  7 месяцев назад

      Signal to noise is a good spec, as well as the crossover slope. For us, we like an amp that has a low noise floor, is good at noise rejection, and is flexible enough to work without a line out converter. Power is a factor of course, but ultimately that is a relationship between the speaker's power requirements and what the amp can deliver.

    I have a 2021 Prius, I've heard that you shouldn't use too big an amp in hybrids (over 30 ampere fuses, apparently) but also have read in forums that as long as you don't blast it for long crazy periods, you should be fine with some 800-1200 watt amplifiers.
    Would the CX 800.1 and the down firing 12 inch (48TRTP122) combo work well??

    • @KICKER-AUDIO
      @KICKER-AUDIO  5 месяцев назад

      Thats a good combination amp/sub-wise, yes. As far as current draw, there are times it will likely pull far more than 30 amps, but this mainly dependant on your listening habits. More volume= more power = more current draw.

    I’m kinda a fast learner . I was going to buy a Kicker 46CXA8001 & pair it up with a KICKER 48TRTP122 . When you set the gain show I put the volume all the way up using a 50hz test tone or should I turn the volume until it distorts the sub or turn the volume 3/4 its limit ? N for the crosssover where should I put it ? Since you guys are from kicker I believe y’all will know the sweet spot lol . But should I turn to high n turn it down until I hear pop? Kinda scare it will blow the sub. And the amp button should be set to input level low when runing a sub correct? Any information will help . I kinda wanna get the kicker above 800. The1200 just because it’s on sale on Best Buy for cheaper than the 800. But the subwoofer I’m trying to get supports 500 rms N I know you guys show how to tune it to the rms a sub supports with the volt meter but I wonder if that’s accurate enough . Thanks any advice will help . I was gonna hook it up to my 2009 Elantra using the kicker kit 4 gauge .
    If I was to get the kicker cx 1200 mono amp & pair up with 48dcwr122 compR kicker . Will I need the big 3? For a 2009 Elantra ? Something tells me yes lol.

    Hello is the feature of the KX amp will be on the cx amp like the cliping light. I wish i could have a KXA800.5 one day...

    • @KICKER-AUDIO
      @KICKER-AUDIO  Год назад +1

      The KXA amp was the only model we made with the clipping light dedicated to the input signal and a separate one for output signal.

  • @schoncason9044
    @schoncason9044 6 месяцев назад

    So the chart obviously dosen't work well for 4 ohm loads. The chart states 69v for 4 ohm loads, but the same 1200 watt amp shows clipping at 55v on your oscilloscope, so how do you fix that? Just ignore the lack of voltage and roll with the better signal?

    • @KICKER-AUDIO
      @KICKER-AUDIO  6 месяцев назад

      Good observation. Clipping can be measured in two places: input signal and output. If the input signal is clipping then it becomes a decision of where to stop turning up the volume. A common way of damaging a system is playing a system into heavy clipping. In this case, the chart is based on the entire KXA line of amps, not just the 1200. Additionally, the KXA's power top power rating was for 2 ohms, but we can see how that might have need some clarification. Here is a link to that manual: www.kicker.com/app/manuals/amplifiers/kx/2017_KXA_Mono_Amps_Rev_H.pdf (FYI, the power chart isnt in that manual.)

    • @schoncason9044
      @schoncason9044 6 месяцев назад

      @KICKER-AUDIO , so you didn't exactly answer my question but instead referred me to a manual that also doesn't answer the question, and it is for an amp that i don't own. I do not have a KXA amp, but the voltage output per ohm load should be the same regardless of the type of amp and name brand. Ohms law doesn't care about brand or rated output. Yes, if you have a distorted signal or clipped signal going into the amp, all the amp will do is amplify that same "dirty" signal. For instance, I know that at 3/4 volume, and in my case even at 100% volume I do not have any distortion or clipping going in to a LC2i pro, and at either volume no clipping or distortion coming out playing a 40Hz signal. (with the LC2i pro set up properly) I am using an oscilloscope and an SMD distortion detector to check these inputs and outputs, and I prefer to stay at the 75% volume range. Just like in your video, I can adjust the gain on my Kicker CXA1200 to around 53v without clipping and without any distortion. However, the subwoofer I am using is a 700w rms SCV wired at 4 ohms. So again, how am I supposed to get that optimal 69v for a 4 ohm load when the signal out of the amplifier starts clipping at 55v?

      Two choices: www.kicker.com/CXA4001-400-Watt-Mono-Class-D-Subwoofer-Amp or www.kicker.com/key-5001-1-channel-smart-amplifier
      The KEY is a bit more expensive. but has a processor built into it that can actually improve the sound quality (not just make it louder).

      We sunset the KX line about a year ago. The KX had more DSP power, more features and delivered more wattage above rated power. The CXA has fewer features and still delivers power above RMS, but is more affordable. We are working on a replacement to the KXA as we speak but haven't announced any specifics yet.

    Well, I thought when I heard the statement "Peak to Peak RMS" that there may be some misunderstanding here about how all this works. I became sure of it as soon as the chart for voltage measurements versus wattage versus impedance was shown, and the indication was it was a 2 ohm speaker being measured. I mean great that's great information, but then to suggest and then make the actual measurements with the speaker DISCONNECTED, expecting the voltage to be that across a 2-ohm load just made me stop right there. Talk about misleading misinformation.....

      The speakers themselves do not alter the factory noise cancellation. Processors like the KEY can help with that, depending on the vehicle. Read this tech paper: www.kicker.com/app/misc/support/tech/tech_papers/docs/ActiveNoiseCanceling.pdf

    Question folks - Just started working with Kicker amps and I am building a system in my Corvette. I am running a CX1200.1 on (8) 10" Kicker Comps. I plug the bass gain into the amp and when I attempt to control the output, it is nothing and then suddenly massive bass. It is not a gradual gain. How can I fix this issue? The nothing/massive point is at about 15% on the gain knob. Again, no change and them crazy bass output. How do I get the gain knob to gradually increase output? Thanks in advance. No, there shouldn't be delay issues. One thought: since it sounds like youre are running everything high level (we are BIG fans of high level around here), you might want to get the bass level controller for the KEY, since there is probably to way you can control it through the head unit during normal playback: www.kicker.com/CXARC-Remote-Control-for-Kicker-46CX-Series-Amps
