Oddly enough, this Super Bowl is the first #1 vs. #1 matchup since the Eagles faced the Patriots in the 2017 season.

Santa is always brought up so for my Euro friends I will explain. That Santa was a fan in the stands who was drunk the entire time and not an official Santa brought in for entertainment. He was bad at being Santa and got what he deserved.
Plus the team had the worst season in Franchise history. Fans were pissed off also because the float that Santa had broke down. They then wrongfully directed all their anger and vitriol towards Santa since the front office wasn't there

As a European, I'll give it a watch! I wish more people here would give the Super Bowl a chance! But I'm not that into sports even here in Norway... so I'll have even more trouble understanding! Oh, and our football (soccer) teams aren't well known like Manchester United or other countries teams

The refs were a big reason the Chiefs didn't blow the Bengals out. They overturned a touchdown and an interception with ticky tack calls.

As a South African that really loves all kinds of sport but especially rugby, football (soccer) and cricket.I really tried to give the Superbowl a go as we have ESPN aswell on our satellite TV channels.I just couldn't get into,the game takes too long with all the pause's and the adverts are over the top.I will stick to rugby thank you very much,no hard feelings.

As a Brit, been trying to understand the game, its a little complicated i guess. Superbowl is on around 0100am over here. I usually watch highlights next morning. The world cup does attract 3.5 billion for the final.
Yeah, highlights from the NFL RUclips channel give a decent run down of the plays. On some occasions the Super Bowl ends up being a dud. Super Bowl 53 (2019) was really boring because rather than have good defenses both offenses just sucked and kept overthrowing until one stopped sucking long enough to win

People have said American Football is rigged for years, and its always down to when certain calls happen. To all of my non-americans, sometimes your Man City and the call goes against you, and sometimes your Man United, and the call works out in your favor.

As a Brit I don't understand how fumbles work. I get the gist, but sometimes I see the ball get fumbled snd they puck it up snd still play or they stop play and go back or the other team gets the ball?? It really confuses me. Can someone explain it to me?
Typically when the play is blown dead it's either because the player was already down right before the fumble, or it counted as a pass from the quarterback (essentially if the quarterback's arm is moving forward then it's considered an incomplete pass. Another thing that may happen is that the player hits the ground, and the ball pops out. In this case, it is ruled that the player was down since the ground, by rule, cannot cause a fumble.
Its a little confusing, and its 3AM so what I typed is probably really bad lmao
The ball hits the ground a lot in American football, but the times it's a fumble are these: 1 When the snap between the Center and Quarterback is botched. 2 When a handoff from a Quarterback is dropped. 3 When the ball leaves the QB's hand before the arm starts going forward. 4 When a receiver catches the ball with both feet down, makes a football move, isn't down yet and loses possession of the ball. 5 When a pass is thrown backwards instead of forwards and the receiver doesn't catch it. 6 When a Running Back loses the ball before he is down. 7 On a punt or kickoff when the receiving team touches the ball without catching it.
I guess it would have been easier to say, it's not a fumble if the quarterback throws an incomplete forward pass, or the player with the ball goes down with any part of his body besides his hands or feet, before the ball comes out.
Alright... Lots of commercials and pauses during the games compared to "Europeans" team sports but I'll give it a try

For Europeans that wonder why football is called football is because when football was first created, throwing the ball with something that you would rarely or almost never see the only way of moving the ball was running yet or kicking it.

The Super Bowl in the US is comparable to the World Cup in Europe because it is a cultural phenomenon that attracts even non sports fans. But obviously the world cup is more special given that it occurs less frequently.

Mahomes can’t take the game over if the eagles D-Line takes it over first. Mahomes is great but he still needs blocking. This game comes down to KC lineman protecting Mahomes. Scoring for the eagles is no issue. They handled the 49ers defense no problem. Just ask the Niners fans😂

So, you tell a brand new fan base the games are rigged, because you’re in your feelings? Why would a potential new fan ever want to watch a rigged sport, much less gamble on one? I don't have any connection to USA except for the fact that one of my cousin lives in Oakland. I started watching NFL 2015-ish, and because I knew nothing, I just picked Oakland Raiders, just because Oakland is the only place I really have a distant connection to. Few years of being invested and supporting the team, they just moved to different city and became a different team. Like what? I can't take a sport like that seriously. Imagine Manchester United moved to London and became London United or Real Madrid moved to Paris and became Real Paris,like that's bullshit. I can't take that shit and I regret I wasted 2-3 years of my life being invested in a team and following it. It's worse than relegation, at least you can still follow your team during relegation, your team just poof,stops existing because rich billionaire didn't like the neighbourhood, that's silly and that's why I'll never seriously be invested in American sports ever again

@@ep9446 If you can name a single American football team that could credibly compete with the Eagles or Chiefs, you'd have a point, but the NFL is so far and away better than any other professional league in the world that it is far more like the World Cup than any regional thing.
Same deal with the World Series. Pit the Japanese, Korean, Australian, Caribbean, or Mexican champion against the Astros, and they would get mercy ruled.
If you really wanted to strike a difference, it would be that the WC is a tournament between international teams, while the Super Bowl is a club tournament final. So it's specifically more like the Club World Cup, except they don't bother including inferior cupcake teams from Spain or wherever.

It's the NFL finals. It started back in 1967 when the modern NFL was two different gridiron leagues: the original National Football League and the upstart American Football League. The two leagues decided to merge and a play a unified World Championship game after it got to costly to sign prospects out of college. The first four were played before the leagues merged with the NFL winning the first two and the AFL, the underdog winning the second two. After the merger, the two leagues became conferences and it's been played like that ever since. The two best teams for league championship.
The game is a defacto holiday in the US and the most watched event in American television.

So sick of hearing people blame the refs for the Bengals loss. You act like the Bengals didn’t get the ball back twice at the end of the game to win. The refs did not make Burrow throw an interception on one and his offensive line not block Chris Jones on the other. You starting with that crap made me turn it off immediately. I don’t care what else you have to say. 😡
pretty much. they got a few penalites that didnt really matter but oh no thats the reason not that joe burrow played like crap and they couldnt do anything on offense when it mattered
Chiefs fan? Yeah Bengals had opportunities but the egregious calls came late in the game.
I fully admit to being a Chiefs fan. However, I don’t like when the refs are blamed for any game (unless it’s the missed pass interference call in the Saints playoff game a few years ago. That was egregious.) The game is 60 minutes and the Bengals had multiple chances. And remember, the Chiefs had a touchdown taken off the board because of a flag. It just feels like the Bengals fans have been the sorest losers ever. I even saw a tweet to the NFL that the crowd noise should have gotten a penalty. I just would like to see more people talking about lost opportunities than blaming the refs.

@@whosaidthat84 maybe go and watch the game back, the calls did come in the 4th quarter, but not late in the game, they were at about 10 mins and 5 mins. AND to top it off, after the really bad calls, the chiefs didn't score any points on those drives, so the most the refs did was waste a couple of min by extending chiefs drives. But no points were added.
As people have mentioned, the Bengals got the ball back twice AFTER both of the bad calls, had they literally scored 3 points on either of those, they at least go to OT if not win. Can't balme the refs for that, and the final roughing call? It's a good call, mahomes was clearly out of bounds. Heck even with the crap offense from the Bengals, if they don't commit that call, chiefs probably miss the kick and go to OT anyway. The refs made a couple bad calls, yes, but they did not change the outcome of the game, both teams still had plenty of chances to win the game before AND after the bad calls, and the chiefs had the final word.
