    Love it when you buy and taste the food. I think that's the first time I saw Ananda in a grocery cart ;-) And now I remember I forgot to mention in a vid that you showed a young child's 'basket seat' over a motorcyle gas tank that was 'woven' maybe out of bamboo. It kind of looked 'homemade'. Aorn is smiling more and more at you/the camera. Tell her she is even more pretty when she does that!!! Thanks for a trip to the fair....

    • @darrenb3
      @darrenb3  7 лет назад +1

      Lol. He does travel in grocery carts from time to time. He'll most likely be in one again in an hour or so when we hit the supermarket. Yes, the motorbike seats are made of bamboo, but they are commercially made. I'll pass on your message :)

    Hi Derren we'll travel to BBK the end of the year. I was wondering if you could let us know where to find those dessert make out of mung bean and jelly into little fruits, last time we been to BBK the hotel gave some to us as a special treat, we just love it.

    • @darrenb3
      @darrenb3  7 лет назад

      Sorry, I don't know exactly where you'll find them in Bangkok, I live around 850km from Bangkok. They are extremely popular and common in Thailand though, I'm sure you'll find them at pretty much every night market and every food market in Thailand. I hope that helps.

      @darrenb3  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks a lot! Yes, it is popular in lots of Asian countries, I've only ever tried it in Thailand, but I'll have to try the Vietnamese version when I go there.

    I absolutely LOVE Nam, I grew up eating it and it's something I have to have every so often XD Even my less-adventurous eater friends, who are wary about trying it right away (because "eww, raw meat"), a lot of them end up loving it! Everything looks so delicious, I can't wait to go to one of these myself one day! I'm in the process of losing weight right now, but I'll probably end up gaining it right back when I get there!

    • @darrenb3
      @darrenb3  7 лет назад

    How about a vlog, with ur wife cooking river prawns ?
    Just a suggestion :)

    • @darrenb3
      @darrenb3  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the suggestion Pierre, but unfortunately the only place I can recall seeing river prawns for sale where we live, in Krabi, is in the supermarkets and they look like they've been frozen for way too long, so I've never bought them. I made that mistake with mantis shrimps once and I won't be doing that again because they were terrible. If I find the river prawns and they look like their fresh I'll definitely buy them. As I said, thanks for the suggestion :)

      Hi, sorry, I do not know. Like I said in the video, OTOPs are usually very poorly advertised, look for the lights.

  • @rickirene9424

    Thanks for yet another great video. Always good to see someone try and to compare the street foods. I was however, stunned by the high prices of the foods in this video! Half a chicken for 100bht! Thats 14% MORE than I pay in the USA for a rotisserie chicken and the rice in bamboo at 50bht? I can only assume and hope that they are elevated prices due to it being a fair maybe?

    • @darrenb3
      @darrenb3  7 лет назад +1

      Wow! Chickens are cheap in the US, much cheaper than in Australia! Those prices were about average for here. I usually pay 40-60 baht for a 1/4 chicken, depending on exactly where I buy it. That rice is generally about that price too, I saw it at a local market yesterday for the same price and people were lined up to get it. Perhaps it's a labor-intensive process to make it, I'm not sure.

      RickIrene rotissierie chicken is 7.99 at walmart. Preety expensive for a chicken. But if youbwait til 10pm...it goes to half price. Chicken us and will be going up in price due to outbreak of bird flu season is here.
      Yes amazing how cheap your food there. I couldn't make any of the stir fries or soups for for less than 30.00us.

    That bamboo thing looks good. The raw pork proves you are a brave and adventurous soul. :)

    • @darrenb3
      @darrenb3  7 лет назад +1

      Cheers Julius! I did turn down the raw pork liver dish that was served at my wedding, and I haven't yet been able to bring myself to trying the pig tongues that were in part 1 of this video, but I'll try most things ;)

    • @Julius44bc
      @Julius44bc 7 лет назад +1

      In the video it looked to me like you bought the tongue. Then you didn't eat it. So, I went back and watched the beginning again and it was the person next to you that bought the tongue. ....disappointed :) It's fun to watch you try stuff for the first time since it's so amazing that there is anything you haven't eaten.

    • @darrenb3
      @darrenb3  7 лет назад +2

      Yes, sorry to disappoint. Maybe one day I'll be able to face them. There's still a lot I haven't tried, but I'm getting there. I accidentally bought a stick of fried chicken butts a few weeks ago, they are actually much better than one might think :)

      Julius44bc the raw pork (nam) is actually very popular and most locals enjoy them. they're not as bad as it looks.
