Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen to The Elder Scrolls Detective Series!
In this video we investigate the rather curious character Fultheim. A man who can be found drinking away a life time of bad memories in the Nightgate Inn. Seemingly a man of no interest at first. A deeper investigation of the matter reveals... Cutting edge evidence.
Be sure to leave any idea for future TES detective videos in the comments! They can be from any game in TES universe :)

I agree with your theory. The only thing I don't agree with is that Fulthiem the Fearless was the one with the contract on his head. This is because the Thalmor don't use third parties often. They always have a branch of their own ranks for anything. The branch responsible for assassinations and arrests are the Thalmor Justicars. They are not only good at their jobs but they are actually arguably better than brotherhood assassins. Also hiring assassins is illegal for them but sending Justicars is not and it would be also a lot safer to send the justicars instead. The Thalmor are so snobby that I don't see them using a third party like the dark brotherhood to do their bidding. The Morag Tong would be more suitable if they wanted an assassination as they believe elves are better than men

Maybe he's actually Acilius Bolar, who was the only known suvivor of the siege of cloud ruler temple. He was pursued by the Thalmor, however, and as such, to prevent the Thalmor from desecrating the shrine in Bloated man's grotto, went to "face his death with honour". Or as he so claims in his note. Maybe he never did, chickened out, or just out mached all his opponents, then got tired of the killing and desided to hideout in the inn till his death.

Or Acilius Bolar did die at Cloud Ruler Temple or died on the road from wounds during the escape and Fuiltheim kept his sword and placed it the shrine of Talos to honour him, forged the letter and kept his own sword. Or none of it, maybe some of it.

      - Unique swords they (the Blades) are the only ones to carry -> lightsabers
      - Ancient order of dragon slayers (look up at the Dragonguard who later became the Blades) -> the Jedi Order (plus the Japanese inspiration for the Akaviri and the Jedi)
      - Rebuilding the Blades -> Luke's new Jedi order after the defeat of the Empire
      etc.

So the Thalmor might either eventually want to destroy the organization or infiltrate it and command it from within. There's a mod that lets you play as a Thalmor agent and wear a Thalmor signet ring and one of the letters tells you to infiltrate the DB (basically to play the questline to become Listener) and use it to do the Thalmor's bidding.

Now that I think about it, Fultheim might not actually be as retired as we are led to believe. Fultheim might still be in contact with the Emperor (and the Pentus Oculantus) as the Gourmet (the person chef of the Emperor) was specifically sent to the Nightgate inn. with that in mind Fultheim may be working as the Gourmets' bodyguard/protector. If that's true, then it would mean that the Emperor is still in contact with former Blades members and may even still have them working as an extra-secret service. This all purely based on speculation of course.

    • @taylor730
      @taylor730 6 лет назад +4

That would be interesting.. But if it were true, I don't think he would be drinking so much. It would compromise him. But it also wouldn't make sense that he is unaware of the Gourmet being there, so.. Idk maybe it's just a huge coincidence, Nightgate Inn being the ideal hiding place. Comfortable and hidden, naturally drawing people who need to hide to it. Maybe the Innkeeper noticed this and uses his protection as a secondary service lol. Or more realistically a primary service, the Innkeep thing being secondary

Drunken Master Style in Kung Fu, Maybe Fltheim was a great fighter, both Sober and Drink he purposely trained himself to be as well Sober as drunk so he can very convincingly be "drunk" but also still fight.

i got curious about fullthaim when i first played the game 5 yrs ago. i knew that he was 100% a blade because of the books the sword and the comments he makes. and when i saw a build video a long time ago it was called the thalmor assassin or something. and i was wearing full thalmor armour and attacked me and i came to school and showed my friends a video on my phone i made on the iphone 3 and my friends thought i was Sherlock but i never knew about the guy from the Dark brotherhood quest line or never conspiracised why his name was fulltheim the fearless. nut i thought you came up with the best explination for it! loved the video and please continue this series!!!!

He’s definitely a blade, but I think the “fultheim the fearless” connection is probably a coincidence. It would be absolutely ridiculous if he didn’t change his name while hiding from the Thalmor all these years lol

Although it was possibly not intended/ known by Bethesda or Todd Howard: Seeing a person carrying a sword in medieval times, was very common. Swords (Or daggers) were the weapon of self-defense (against raiders, bandit and all kind of people who were not nice) for peasents, farmers, nobles and merchants alike. Much like pistols/ revolvers, pepper spray and teasers are nowadays. So seeing a barkeeper with a sheated sword or dagger was nothing uncommon ;) But Adrianna Avennicci (the imperial blacksmith in Whiterun) carrying a mace is very odd (since its a weapon you use when you engange on a battlefield with armored foes)^^ Would be odd as walking around with a maschine gun, grenades or rocket launcher in modern times XD As I said, it was probably not known (atleast not intentionally) by Bethesda and i only mentioned it for educational purpose :)

Eh, I think maces are pretty much treated in the same way in skyrim. Weird from an out of game perspective, but pretty normal within skyrim.

Fultheim's dialogue while in a fight with him is common random lines when in combat with elder NPCs. The weapon behind the bar on the shelf is also common weapon spawns inside all taverns.

Wow. Good find. And nice build-up. Just imagine the video starting with the last clue - Fultheim being hostile to Thalmor: it would ruin the anticipation and would be just a bunch of evidence. But this way, it feels like a Poirot-story: when the most important and most amazing clue is the last to be revealed, though the detective himself had been aware of it all along.

There's no way Fultheim the Fearless has a contract on his head. The Thalmor can walk the roads of Skyrim openly, so they wouldn't need the Brotherhood. Astrid just brought him there as a red herring so you might assume he was mistaken for the real Fultheim by the Brotherhood if you'd met him
