1. What is that instrument at the very beginning? Sounds kinda like a steel guitar but I'm not sure.
2. The lyrics are insanely good and very easy to understand
3. This is a very simple yet powerful song. Isn't that amazing.
You Make Me Feel Brand New
The Stylistics
My love,
I'll never find the words my love, to tell you how I feel my love.
Mere words, could not explain.
Precious love,
You held my life within your hands, created everything I am,
Taught me how to live again.
Only you,
Cared when I needed a friend, believed in me through thick and thin,
This song is for you, filled with gratitude and love
God bless you, you make me feel brand new,
For God blessed me with you, you make me feel brand new,
I sing this song 'cause you, make me feel brand new.
My love,
When ever I was insecure, you built me up and made me sure,
You gave, my pride, back to me.
Precious friend,
With you I'll always have a friend, you're someone who I can depend,
To walk a path that sometimes bends.
Without you,
Life has no meaning or rhyme, like notes to a song out of time,
How can I repay, you for having faith in me
God bless you, you make me feel brand new,
For God blessed me with you, you make me feel brand new,
I sing this song 'cause you, make me feel brand new.

This is the great writing duo Thom Bell and Lynda Creed
When I first heard this song, I was going to Basic Training in the Army. I was leaving everything behind and didn't know if I would pass this way again, and then Russell Thompkins tore me up with his amazing falsetto voice. Ya'll I thought I was hearing an angel. The greatest falsetto of all time. Of course I made it back or I wouldn't write this down. I'm an old man, but I still have a young heart. But in the end time has it's way with all of us. God bless ya'll. Try to love one another. This is your boy from Tennessee! Peace!
Interview Russell Thompkins Jr and New Stylistics. He is the voice of the Original Stylistics. He is still touring at age 70 in 2021. This is one of only 2 songs Airion Love sang on during first 3 albums and first 14 straight top hits. Russell recorded all the rest alone with studio MFSB singers including Thom Bell Linda Creed, Kenny Gamble, Bunny Seigler, Leon Huff and the 3 Philly Angels girl group. This DJ is commenting on Russell's singing. He was_ still is fantastic. Sing on Russell. 💫🎶💫
In an interview once the bee gees said they love music of the stylistics.💞💞💞
This song gives me chills down my spine every time I hear it.
You Are Everything
I'm Stone in Love With You
are their best for me
So I've played " In the stone" in a college jazz band but never heard it in it's entirety.
Starry2006, there's a fantastic YOU ARE EVERYTHING cover, with the Clowns (1972); it's the one I like best, considering The Stylistics, Diana Ross and M Gaye and Rod Stewart. I've only found it at ruclips.net/video/DcUVAJqyi7c/видео.html , a Brazilian TV show soundtrack full album (with 14 tracks).
@@jaybrielakoi7747 "in the stone" is Earth wind and fire vs "stone in love with you" from the stylists very different songs. You should do Dionne Warwick and the Spinners "Never Knew Love before then came you" also written my Thom Bell and Linda Creed".
ohh shoot my bad.
In the last 40 years or so we went from talent and class to simply shaking your ass. It’s a sad world we live in today.
Awsome great band
This song cuts in deep for me! What a great song! Another as equally as good is by Gladys Knight and pips “neither one of us”. Great pick Jay and thanks for all you do
Thanks So Much. Appreciate it very much. Another great one by them is I'm Stoned In Love With You, Let's Put It All Together, Betcha My Golly Wow, You Are Everything, Breakup To Makeup, Rock N Roll Baby.👍👍🎤🎶❤️
Sir--------The 60's & 70's WERE THE vERY BEST decades, for music in America & the world. ------------------------WolfSky9
So enjoying the recent selections.. a trip down memory lane for sure. Back when music had words that meant something, harmonization. Thank you! 🤗🤗
Blue Magic/Sideshow is a one hit wonder from the 70's. Very worthy of your review.
They had more than one hit. You have to know their catalog.
They were not a one hit wonder, Sideshow was only one of many great songs by them, and actually there were better ones like What’s Come Over Me and Spell
Also..."Three Ring Circus"
Nice pick jay👍👍💕
Yeah, this song is a timeless classic. This song was often played at weddings it was so popular. The Stylistics were the iconic Philly sound (TSOP) the sound of Philadelphia, Philly artists answer to the Motown sound. Great song writing, lyrics, lush orchestrated arrangements and the performers always polished with class. You can check out similar artists and groups such as The Spinners, Delfonics, Teddy Pendergrass, Blue Magic, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Tavares...to name a few. They all had big hits in the 70s.
The instrument in the intro sounds like it might have been an electronic sitar. If you listen to the group Steely Dan's hit song..."Do it Again" you can hear it soloed in portion of the song. By the way, if you haven't already heard Steely Dan, they are another of the many iconic bands of the 70s. They are a whole other subject when it comes to innovative and creativity in music. They have legions of fans and newer fans. If you should fall down their rabbit hole of music, don't expect to climb out anytime soon. As for The Stylistics, just get their Best of The Stylistics CD, chill and enjoy for the rest of your life.
I just subscribed because from your reaction, you really listen to the music. 👍
Love it!! Stylistic was one of my favorites back in the day. Just perfect choreography and style. Betcha By Golly Wow was my favorite and Have You Seen Her and many other hits
"Have You Seen Her" was not Stylistics...that was Eugene Record and the Chi Lites. Robert " Squirrel" Lester., Red Jones., and Marshall Thompson. Great group from Chicago.
@@nancywood9531 You're right. I always did confuse those two groups because they were around the same time and I liked them both.
@@Tessiefaye they were in my opinion the greatest two .Third was Ted Mills and Blue Magic. Frankie Valli and 4 seasons. So many were great. Thank God for Video memories.
Thanks for doing this one. In my top 3 all time favorite ballads. Great reaction!!!
Big influence on Bee Gees style
U are my favorite,i knew u would like this
This is Thom Bell arrangements and his writing style 70 r&b from sound of Philadelphia international so many great r&b classics written and produced by him Bruno and Anderson new song have the same elements but they put their twist check out some delfonics or blood stone or blue magic and many some blue lights in the basement music slow dance music 😃
Thank you for focusing on the lyrics.
So much talent.Super great sound.
Enjoyable.
Fall of '74, written by Thom Bell & Linda Creed ---------------An absolute masterpiece.-------------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
Sir--------------a 70's wedding song, for sure.-------------------------------WolfSky9
Just a beautiful song by the great Stylistics. Great harmonies and range of voices. I love the 70’s music. Other great songs by them are Can’t Give You Anything, I’m Stoned In Love With You and so many more. Great choice. Thx
Surprise!!! Great harmony?. Great singing voices? 3 of the Stylistics never recorded on this song at all. The harmony in this song ( and the all first 3 albums and 14 straight top hits wasn't the studio singers MFSB....and Russell Thompkins. ) AIRION ONLY SANG ON 2 SONGS DUO LEAD WITH RUSS.
Betcha By Golly Wow by the Stylistics is another you should check out.
Cathy Hodges, yep this is another smash!
Normally I always recommend studio version first, but this video has vocal, and musical integrity! Great pick!
Credence Clearwater Revival song I Put A Spell On You. Great group of the late 60's and On. Lead singer is John Fogerty who has a unique voice. Other songs include : Down On The Corner, Bad Moon Rising, Green River, Fortunate Son, Up Around The Bend, and many many more.❤😍😱
@Trevon Womack never said it was their song. I know who was the original singer, i like the original but like CCR's version more.
Stylistics/Rock And Roll Baby
Love the Motown sound..grew up on it.
OMG this song is fire. Ya the motown sound is awesome. This would have def been one of my fav songs if I was alive during that time.
This is NOT Motown! Look up the Philly Sound and you'll see these guys and many more come out of the Gamble & Huff production.
@@jaybrielakoi7747 this is not Chicago Motown ..this is Philadelphis Philly sound.....
if you like thompkins falsetto, try eddie holman, hey there lonely girl live
Listen to Simply Red's version of this. Excellant
ruclips.net/video/JiqsIWcur4Y/видео.html Done it
Jay, I think the instrument at the very beginning is a Keyboard playing a SITAR sound, which was very common in the 70's. And... watching your reactiion videos I have the feeling that 70's music was in a very superior level, especially in comparison with more recent years. Am I wrong??
Hmmm....70s vs current music. Well...it'd obviously depend on a lot of things and that's a very complex question...hmmm....after thinking about it for a few minutes I don't think I can even say without doing legit research. Like I wanna say 70s musicians and writers were far superior but I don't think I understand our current music and what's seen as good and why.
Hey Ramon, I also responded to Jay on that intro to .."You Make Me Feel Brand New". I'm hearing the same as you. I'm also thinking an electronic sitar. I suggested Jay take a listen to Steely Dan's ..."Do It Again" where it is featured and soloed. Good ear on ya. 👍
@@richardcogbill6791 tks. Steely Dan is a Nice suggestion
It's a Sitar.
One of my favorites, please also try "You are Everything and Betcha By Golly Wow.
this is the dogs danglies.... there was a guy on the pub club circuit in the 90,s near me who sang both parts, i chatted to him and he said it was a difficult song to do both vocals.... only other guy i know who does this justice Mick Hucknal of Simply Red
Love Mick Hucknal......I bet the attack when you switch back to falsetto gotta be hard.
Jaybriel Akoi mick can do just that, have a listen in your own time
This group, the Spinner and the Dephonics were all influences for the Bee Gees, per the brothers in an interview. Love that Philly soul sound, their falsetto is killer. ...of course that was always used by black groups. LOL, can tell what generation you are from "participation trophies"!!...man, the idea of those always make me laugh...sorry,( I am from a generation where you actually had to do something of merit or win a contest to wind a trophy)...don't mean to offend ;)
synthesizer is my guess
It's called a "sitar". Synths weren't popular yet back in the early 70's
Dionne Warwick commented that The Stylistics covered many of her songs, and did it better.
Some songs to react to that I love .
"Betcha by golly Wow"."You are Everything","Side Show".just to name a few.
I could totally see them being a good match for a lot of her songs.
@@jaybrielakoi7747 Dionne's catalog was so great that many groups especially male groups would cover her records. The Dells did a entire albums of Dionne's songs. Luther Vandross had planned to whole album of Dionne's recordings.
Side Show was not Stylistics. It was Ted Mills and Blue Magic.
Harpsichord?
