I randomly got the “disc could not be read” error in the middle if a really suspenseful moment during my first play through of Metroid prime and it actually made me jump in fear and surprise
The copy of Prime 2 I would rent from time to time would get the disk read error almost every time I would get the cutscene of going between the Light and dark portals and the portal sound effect would keep playing when I got the Message
That last sound is quite creepy indeed. You know which sound is also unpleasant and puts me on my edge everytime: The hurry up tune from Super Mario World when you only have 100 seconds left to finish the level. It's quite unnerving for a game hehe

The ingame disc could not be read during the game happened to me often when i used to play religiously so i made it a habit to keep a spare copy on hand whenever I play a game like the Simpsons hit and run

My and my little bro were playing Mario Galaxy 2, we were early on a playthrough in the middle of a boss fight when an error popped up saying that the disc could not be read. The game crashed, each time we replayed the level it would simply crash at the exact same moment each time. We tried everything to fix the issue, but concluded that the disc was damaged and we couldn't do anything. Because it was a boss level, it is now impossible to advance past that point in any save file we have, so we are very careful not to delete any of our slots. It was scary and sad
the last one is kind of meme when you think about that You just turn on gamecube with a classic funky intro and get breaking bad vibe sound effect with a popup. Seriously,this is a bit funny

Some minutes later he says: "You don't have enough memory in the memory card". Whenever we put in a disc into the Wii I was always terrified that the disc wouldn't work(I had never known what happens in that situation and I was terrified until it actually happened)

On my wii it sometimes freezes and makes a really weird noise. You have to turn the wii off and on again but it terrified me when it first happened. The data we played didn't save and it kept happening every so often when we play a wii game for a while. It really never happened to disc games; only pre-downloaded games

I think a problem the GameCube games had was that when they were packaged, there was a hard plastic liner on the disc to keep it in place and prevent movement in the box. I always felt as a kid though that it was a cause for some scratches on discs
@@mariokart8715 it’s pretty niche when I look back at it. Even the Wii was more popular and more innovative. I’m not sure what Nintendo was intending with the GameCubes small design but there was great games on the system
The only problem with the GameCube and the Wii was when you get a error It says: An error has occourred. Remove any Game Disks and turn the power off That turn the power off means that your console Is telling you that Is malfunctioning, and that does non make you feel good.
My brother has a scratched disk of Mario party 7 so the game card could not be read doesn't scare me anymore. sometimes when it crashes in the middle of a mini game in a lava setting, we can hear the lava noise while the error shows up.
I have a pretty big family, and we all used to live in the same house. It was my family on my dad’s side so it was my grandparents, my 4 uncles and one aunt, my parents, my 5 older cousins, and me. I was the second youngest grandchild at the time and my youngest cousin lived in a diff city but he’d come over often to play with all of us. All of us grandchildren shared everything, a computer, a GameCube, an N64 that my uncle threw away because he didn’t feel like getting it fixed for us 🙄, a Wii, and a PS3. Most of my memories of growing up in my old house was playing Mario kart double dash with my cousins late at night in the living room during the summer, and the game crashed mid game.

My memory card kept getting corrupted so I had to take it out and in again all of the time and one day it just fixed itself
