I'm a 48 year old white guy who was 16 at the time this came out. I knew every rapper on this track and every line in their part. I had a real strong connection and affinity for this song because it was the language of the heart. Not only a great musical creation with the East Coast All Stars, but deep and meaningful. I knew it wasn't meant for me, but I always spit every line along with each artist. This track had weight, it was important at that time. It's important at this time. This country could go a long way to re-examine this project. The West Coast came out with "We're all in the same Gang" soon after, taking the example the East Coast had set. It was pretty good, but this one was my personal favorite. I still love it. It's about personal responsibility.
It was about the crack and the gun violence that was going on in N.Y.C . It got so bad that kids couldn't play in the play ground or in the projects that they lived in. They were selling crack right in front of the kids. Back then they passed a law if you sell drugs in a school yard or park your doing life. That law still apply till this day in N.Y.C.

They killed a cop & are doing life now...anyway, 1 day I'm on my friend Corey's porch next to where Steady B lived , & SB & another producer were on their porch talking about this song & video that's coming & he wanted SB on it but they were only using NYC rappers. The producer was like "its bullshit anyway, its just a chance for the IT rappers to all put their face out there more. Some of the artist don't even give a fuck about the message".....now I'm 12 , ear hustling & hearing this! @ that moment I promised to go w my OWN heart & NOT what another person says that they stand for.....bcuz they might be full of shit.

I'm a 48 year old white guy who was 16 at the time this came out. I knew every rapper on this track and every line in their part. I had a real strong connection and affinity for this song because it was the language of the heart. Not only a great musical creation with the East Coast All Stars, but deep and meaningful. I knew it wasn't meant for me, but I always spit every line along with each artist. This track had weight, it was important at that time. It's important at this time. This country could go a long way to re-examine this project. The West Coast came out with "We're all in the same Gang" soon after, taking the example the East Coast had set. It was pretty good, but this one was my personal favorite. I still love it. It's about personal responsibility.
It was about the crack and the gun violence that was going on in N.Y.C . It got so bad that kids couldn't play in the play ground or in the projects that they lived in. They were selling crack right in front of the kids. Back then they passed a law if you sell drugs in a school yard or park your doing life. That law still apply till this day in N.Y.C.
