The great mysteries of life: How did they build stonehenge? Where did the Easter Island statues come from? Why does the 'other' lane always move quicker at the supermarket? And most mysterious of all: Why anyone would give Adrian's videos a thumbs down.

It makes perfect Australian sense that a band of guys who grew up next to the Pacific Ocean would call themselves The Atlantics.

Ha ha.. they actually got the name from Atlantic Union Oil company, that later became Esso.

Adrian, another great track that inspires me to try to get those tones out of my Strat! I've enjoyed all the eclectic punk & post-punk material, takes me back to my early days of playing guitar, but who wants to listen to an old dude playing Wire or Richard Hell, etc? It's the country stuff and these types of tunes that have had me experimenting with my Tele into country licks and with my Strat into serious reverb and surf sounds, rather than the typical and blues sounds. Your versions of both the original and Johnny Thunders' (whom I saw play back in the late 70 with the Heartbreakers) versions of Pipeline were great too! Just had to say you have the most unique tastes and lessons on RUclips and thanks for all these lessons.

Great choice/lesson...being an Aust surfer I was v impressed.
Saw them play live in a Sydney beachside Surf lifesaving Club when a regroup happened circa 2000.
Trivia warning - There was a large influx of Greek migrants to the Australian shores post ww2 this band was a byproduct of that thus the bosuki guitar sound influence on the track.

It belongs as the soundtrack to a crazy space chase scene in some old 60s sci-fi movie. Thanks Adrian!

Funny you should say that, the Atlantics did try to do a sort of concept album based on the whole space age sci fi thing. Didn't do well but I might have to try and get my hands on it and have a listen, could be a forgotten classic?

@@mpogze8020 I have to apologise, Michael, it was just a single, although they did do some edgy sort of punk surf stuff in the later years

Jeffrey Sims No worries. Thanks for the update. This song is sort of pushing that “punk-like” direction with all the dissonance. I love Adrian’s interpretation. Fun tune!

Another wonderful lesson - can hardly wait to wrestle with it (wish I had your skill). Apart from providing some of the best guitar lessons on you tube you have amazing musical knowledge and taste. You've introduced me to tracks and artists I would otherwise never have heard of and are introducing younger players to some of the classic punk, new wave and alternative tracks that have been inspirational to me over the years. Thanks - please don't stop!

Great lesson and great tones. I love me some surf! Regarding the reverb, I found the Source Audio True Spring to be the best alternative to a real Fender outboard tank. It’s indistinguishable in a blind test, at least to me. I actually built a Surfy Bear and preferred the True Spring. Keep up the great work and thanks for all the lessons.

Alex Nennig I’ve been using a True Spring and it’s an incredible reverb. Miles ahead of any pedal I’ve tried and I’ve tried a lot of them. The tremolo function on the True Spring is also very good.

The Fender 6G15 is the best! Second to that is the SB version which is the closest to the 6G15. (It’s actually the same 6G15 circuit with FETs replacing the tubes).
I’ve long wanted an original 6G15 tank but never got around to getting one and I still kick myself for not buying the Reissue from years back to mod to original spec.

Never heard this song before, quite menacing sounding for a surf song. I like it. I guess I gotta put the whammy bar on my strat and see how close I can get to the reverb sound with my Source Audio Ventris. I have a Belle Epoch Deluxe as well.

Adrian will reply, but I was thinking sound absorbers to improve the acoustics inside the room. On the other hand keeping sound from being too loud outside would be useful for me. We have the crappiest single-pane windows on earth so I'm always reluctant to crank it up at all.

I always wondered why they called themselves the "Atlantics"
Since Australia is bordered by the Indian and Pacific Ocean.
All the best surf is in places borderd by the Pacific. Hence they should have named themselves the "Pacifics" 😋
