He tells one single story from his life that is 1000 times more interesting than most people have to say about anything that has ever happened to them and he’s just so nonchalant and casual about it. And you know he has 1000 more stories that are just as insane. What a life.
Martin Derige because he’s seeing the humour in how close they legit were to death lol. Either you laugh at it or you let it control you and increase your fear levels and worries on future similar climbs.
Is it me or does Alex Honnold look like he's made contact with extraterrestrial life? The dude is activated! His eyes look as though he's seen Beyond... what an amazing human being.
This portion of the interview was simply incredible. "Had we not got stuck in the storm, we would have been done in 24 hrs, we would have been a little hungry, but we would have been at our camp... we would've been great. But instead we sat for 4 more hrs, we had to repel down, like, we got worked(by the storm) & then we had to hike for 20 more hrs, with no food, which is pretty grim."
this dude is a BEAST! after a 24 hr climb he did another 24 hr walk, had to fall asleep in the raining mud for 15 mins just to get up shivering and go out and walk again to regain heat then to fall asleep and do it all over again for 20 hrs??? like wth?? dude is a fucking beast
I like how Alex is telling the interviewer about his horrible time in Patagonia, and how the trip took a turn for the worse. They ran out of food, water, had no shelter....and the interviewer has the nerve to ask right after..."so what are the worse conditions you've ever faced?" Interviewer is socially dense and sticking to the script too much
Most people don't know how to interview this epic athlete, I can see you do your homework, but you were actually concerned about bringing out a great interview, it shows....
The interviewer doesn't even listen to Alix haha. Alix will patiently explain it all and then the interviewer will stay stuck on it and stutter out some half ass questions.
53 hours of climbing? How's that enjoyable? No way you can climb the hardest shit/your peak best. I got mad respect for Alex Honnold, but my favorite climbers are the Chris Sharma's and Adam Ondra's. Ones that climb the hardest walls there are.
So true. I'll admit, Alex's talent is beyond anything we can comprehend, and this really is a great interview. But damn, Alex talks like an airheaded valley girl. Never heard someone use the word "like" and the phrase "I don't know" so many times in a conversation. It's quite nauseating.

2:52 "It was really grim." Then a solid chuckle.
Alex "No Big Deal" Honnold

Alex is an incredible individual.
Supremely humbling.

That's what happens when you don't sit around watching RUclips videos!
Master Juju : I’ve always though he was not of this earth. Something about his eyes.
G Fleming he has a lot of light in him.
He's supernatural, definitely X Files material
Master Juju the guy sounds like an asshole

To be fair, he was more asking "have you been in anything worse than that?"
Alex the great ad libs his passion. 53 hrs worth on a very bad weather day. Not surprised
Just found this channel, and I love your style, proper interviews, no hidden agenda :)
This was a year before "Free Solo"
That's awesome. 👍
0:48 Classic Honnold!

Where can we find the full interview?
So El Capitan is like the Mt Everest of rock climbing?...Priceless
he's iron-man superman,... what ever man..
The guy describes the winds as '''Woah". And I fully understand.
As long as you have some water you should be okay
Longest i ever had insomnia was 52hours. I cant imagine climbing & hiking for that long but then again my life didn't depend on it either😅
i've seen those eyes before

August Hallstrom Alex
Im confused he said he climbed for 53 hours straight without sleeping but then said he slept in 15 minute intervals on the way back
do u call a 15 min nap laying in the dirt + snow “sleep”
@@emlee3480 yes
why not ditch the gear on the hike out? jeez
The eyes of Alex are so big that I feel like soon they won't fit in the oval of his face
