      The female members of Reichsarbeitsdienst had been called , Arbeitsmaid ' singular, Arbeitsmaiden ' plural. My grandmother told me , that then, during war, such a girl had to help her father, whose wife died of in late 1920s, her husband, also the husband of her sister had been in war , so some help for Farmwork was necessary. Her fathers Farm was very small, so he had the job of , Breeding Bull Warden' . In those days every Village in my then poor Region had one or two Breeding Bulls, the farmers had often only one to three cows. One day my grandmother together with her father ( wwl Veteran) and the young Arbeitsmaid did haywork on communal meadow, when a plane appeared. The three hid into some bushes and a bomb expoded . The girl was so shocked, that she cried: We are dieing! The Pilot had problems with his plane and wanted to prevent an Explosion during emergency landing.

    Spectacular historic piece! The most unusual rifle that I have had the privilege to hold and examine belonged to an acquaintance of mine back in the early 1970s. This man was an avid collector of wartime Lugers. He acquired a presentation grade Walther .22 rifle that had been gifted to Adolph Eichmann by Hitler. As best as I can remember it was elaborately engraved with Eichmann's name. The stock was a presentation grade of walnut which was elaborately carved and inlaid with ivory. The story was that the rifle had been smuggled out of Argentina and brought to the United States. I am not sure how the man acquired the gun or what it cost him but he told me that he also had paperwork authenticating it.

    I have had a couple of sporting guns from WW2 Germany and they had trigger guards made from buffalo horn. I think it was quite common. It was also used on pocket knife handles. That's a nice piece you have there.

    There where 42 districts called “Gau” actually there where 43 when you count in the occupied territories.
    The plaque was probably exchanged with the new one and was at the same spot I inherited an NS era gun with case from my grandpa where the case plauqe was also denazified.
    The word “Hochwild” is better translated with High Game instead of Large Game the word comes from the time hunting was mainly allowed for the nobility and just so called “Niederwild” low game was allowed for the commoners.
    Greetings from Germany

Still handmade (yes, they're very expensive). Everything. Same caliber even like this gun: 7x65r. Classic rimmed cartridge for break open guns. A lot of guys run these for deer here. We can use the shotgun on them, thus a combi.

    7x65R was developed by Brenneke and is one of the most used cartridges today . Many make it and ammo of many kind to be found .
    Can be compared to a .280 Rem

      @mysterioanonymous3206 Год назад +4

      Yeap. I have mine right in front of me (rifle/shotgun combo gun). It's basically a rimmed version of the 7x64, or the "Brenneke", but it's normally downloaded a bit because people shoot them in old guns and bolt guns can take more pressure. But yeah, classic rimmed cartridge and still very much in use. But mainly in Europe.

    • @MrPh30
      @MrPh30 Год назад

      7x65R is a very fine one that is perhaps one of most used of them all

    Hochwildbüchse means rifle for game bigger than a roe deer, (wildboar is also hochwild).
    So your translation is fine 👍.
    Today there are still ammunition regulations for hochwild.: the diameter must be 6.5mm or more and the engery of the bullet must be 2000 joule on 100 Meter...I think thats why they put that plate on the rifle
    The Logo on the ammunition Looks like RWS... This company is still very common in Germany and its a high quality ammo manufacturer.
    I also still some guys who are using this cartdrige in their Drilling.

    I made buffalo horn butt plates for the Luger and P38 carbines as finished by John V. Martz in the 1970s. Buffalo horn does take a high buffed polish.
    I don't know if buffalo horn is still legal here in California, U.S.A..
    Roosevelt's work program was called the W.P.A. which stood for the Work Projects Administration. The cartridges looked like they may be balloon head cases.
    The brand looks like RWS but Tom you are way too fast so, I didn't have enough time to really look at the box and translate the German also.

    The RAD was not the same as the Organisation Todt, which handled the forced labor from occupied territories and was responsible for major military construction projects ranging from U-boat pens to the Atlantic Wall fortifications to the Siegfried Line. The RAD was compulsory for Germans and lost most of its labor pool after 1939 to military service. It did not generally make use of slave labor, and the post-war trials bore this out.
