- In this video i'll show how it works the "Point Picking Tool" of Cloud Compare.
Pick one point for its coordinates and RGB information;
pick two points for information about their distance;
pick three point to define a triangle and know sides, angles, surface and normal.

Thank you for this amazing video.
Thank you for this video. I'm looking at a point cloud in CC. How do I determine the units of my measurement? The point picker tells me "distance" between two points but does not include units. Thank you.
Hello sir, thank you for sharing such videos regarding pointclouds. I have some questions:
1) You showed us how it is possible to measure surface of a triangle by picking three point on the pointcloud. Is it also possible to measure surface or even volumes of irregular geometries/objects such as roofs, hole in the ground etc...?
2) If it is not possible, what would it be the best way to measure irregular surfaces and volumes in CloudCompare?
Kind regards
Altan
Hello sir! First of all, great video. I did as you told to get the dimensions of a scanned gearbox cloud point and i did succeed. I wanted to know if there is a way to extract these measurements from cloudcompare into an excel sheet?
hi metrical, i would be grateful if you answer my question: the coordinates of the specified points are relative to which origin?? i want to know that the origin of the point cloud is the lidar frame? and the coordinates of the points are specified relative to the lidar?
Can we pick a cluster of points and calculate the distance between them ?
When i was using the "2 point selection" to draw a line with vertically, not come in 90 degree.
if any possible to draw line with 90 degree vertical? could you please assist me? thanks for your video
Thank you for this amazing video. I have a small confusion what is the unit of measurement. Kindly if you can explain ? regards
Cloudcompare doesn't have any units, it depends on your input data. For example, if your data has length units in meter, then all the length in the software will be in meters too.
137.672 is not the whole angle you are suggesting... Just a part of it. ;)
what do you mean? I see that there's no way that point C is 137
@@chechennyboiiy shouldn't be there + 180° or + 200 gon in this angle? It seems so.
@@filipdvoracek looks like a bug, I've downloaded 2.12 beta and the problem seems to be fixed, all angles add up to 180 which is correct for a triangle
