TV101 (1988) Episode 12

TV 101 is an American drama television series that aired on CBS from November 29, 1988 until March 25, 1989. The series stars Sam Robards, Brynn Thayer, Leon Russom and Andrew Cassese. Other notable cast members include Stacey Dash, Teri Polo, Alex Désert and Matt LeBlanc.

The story about the pregnancy is amazing and thought provoking unlike today where they make it look like a form of birth control. But that drivers Ed course is insane lol 😂

The story behind this episode gets even crazier the more I read about it. Apparently, an organization called The Right to Life held a boycott because they weren't consulted by the show's producers but Planned Parenthood was. In retaliation, the CBS affiliates in Salt Lake City, UT, Rochester, NY and Little Rock, Ark refused to air the episode. This was no doubt decided without anyone actually viewing it. This is a well thought out depiction that doesn't side with either character, it neither makes abortion seem like an easy choice or even the right choice. It leaves it messy and complicated just like how it is in real life. The last shot of the episode with Bender in that car sobbing says it all. This is a cautionary tale if anything.
