- TV 101 is an American drama television series that aired on CBS from November 29, 1988 until March 25, 1989. The series stars Sam Robards, Brynn Thayer, Leon Russom and Andrew Cassese. Other notable cast members include Stacey Dash, Teri Polo, Alex Désert and Matt LeBlanc.

This show aired during my senior year of high school (1988-1989). I was beginning to think I dreamt this show because I couldn't find anyone else who loved it or even remembered it. So glad I can watch it again! Too bad it didn't have more seasons! I would have watched them all!
Yeah, same experience--though I was about 7 when the show aired. For years, I've been trying to track it down! Like you, I was on the verge of chalking it up to something I'd invented in my head until I finally found it.
I was a college freshman when this aired. 16-17 years old.
This aired during my 2nd grade year, it was a good show, but had to deal with too much competition at the time
It was on Tuesday Night 8/7 Central against abc's Hit Sitcoms Who's the Boss? and the #1 NEW Comedy of the Season The Original Roseanne as well as NBC's Hit Legal Drama Matlock, then it later got moved to Wednesday Night 8/7 Central against abc's Hit Sitcoms Growing PainS and Head of the Class and the Hit NBC Reality Drama Unsolved Mysteries and finally, got moved to Saturday Night 8/7 Central against Hit NBC Sitcoms with 2 stars from The Jeffersons in 227 and Amen
Plus, CBS was in 3rd place on Prime Time Television
Fact: for a short while, you had 2 stars from One Life to Live going head to head in Brynn Thayer & Judith Light and Thayer would later join the cast of Matlock for 2 seasons when it moved to abc
it was filmed at my high school in my last year too.i remember the long haired guy in the army jacket walking past me one time
CBS 2 NY !!! grew up on this channel in the 70s - late 80;s
After 30 years, I can see it again!

AGREED 100% when I find Uncut MTV broadcast from the 80's The commericals were great, Chips/ soda/cars, jeans, perfume , etc,

Now for some serious tv binging and then comment about how this excellent drama was too good and clever for too many critics, thus it was never continued.
I was 15 when this came out I haven't seen it since its first run in the UK.. its marathon time!

Even though this aired 2 years before I was born thank you so much for posting these! I majored in TV production and when I found out about this show I’ve tried to find episodes! This is a great little show!

Bear in mind, _TV 101_ has NEVER been seen on TV since its original airing.
Talk about a show where nearly the entire cast is full of people who went on to bigger and better things: Teri Polo (Meet the Parents), Stacy Dash (Clueless), and Matt LeBlanc (Friends) just to name a few.
And Fischer was played by Wormser from Revenge of The Nerds
I saw this back in 1988. FIrst time I've seen this since 88 33 years ago my God..
I was searching for this but for some reason i misremembered the name as "Video 101" haha. Glad to find it. I was 11 when this came out.

This was the 1st TV show ever to feature both filmed/videotaped, that was also live. Unfortunately, it had low ratings, so it was canceled.

I hate to say this but, I see why it didn't last. The main teacher and the lady who got him the job are terrible actors. It is interesting to see Matt Leblanc, Teri Polo and Stacey dash so young. Oh Alex desert is in it. It's weird seeing him as a high school student. He was the news production teacher in boy meets world for awhile. He was Mr. Turner's best friend. I was too young to remember this on the air. The guy with long hair is perceived as the main kid character, he is not a good actor. These commercials of their other series are weird. A lot of the series on CBS at that time failed. I know that knots landing was on for many years but all the others advertised didn't last.
