Thanks for watching and enjoying LOVEBITES! After reviewing the bass intro several times, I must say it is definitely in tempo, and played as intended. Fami is a top-flight talent, winning the bassist auditions over worldwide applicants. LOVEBITES' music is actually fairly simple for her in most cases. Also, as a drummer myself, I would estimate the 4/4 signature as played here, to be the most common in most types of music.
There is not a single live performance on the planet that cannot be negatively criticized for the tiniest of mistakes by someone predisposed to looking for mistakes. Music is art, art is beauty, and by its very nature, beauty is in the ear and eye of the beholder. Lovebites’ live performances are second to none. That said and out of the way, I personally saw nothing negative about Fami’s opening bass intro. Fami is a world class speed metal bassist and that’s why she’s on stage with Lovebites and we are not. Real musicians without ego issues are loathe to publicly criticize another musician because they know there’s always someone “better” than they are.

I don´t hear "muddy", but a heavily disrorted, mötötheadstyle bass. listen to her cover of "alien, alien" on her YT channel.
He reacted to the studio version 9 months ago. „Lemmy Style“ were the reactors own words for exact the same bass intro back then. It seemed like a compliment. Maybe he changed his opinion …
It sounded on tempo to me. I've played guitar, bass guitar, bass violin, saxophone. And I've played trombone for 16 years - concert band, marching band, brass ensembles, and jazz. It didn't sound off at all to me. She used a lot of distortion on this part. She said it was the most distortion she has ever used before. The distortion makes the notes blend together some but that was intentional. She is plucking the strings on tempo. Please clarify what you thought was sloppy and where she was off tempo.
Yes, he should clarify. If any of the Lovebites members thought it got messed up (whether by nerves or some other reason), especially to the degree he was suggesting here, they wouldn’t have put the video up. If he is at all suggesting a skill-issue, they tested Fami in person to see her performance, and also against many other bassists before finally picking her as the best.
He said he was going to look for mistakes before the song started.. Just a hit piece.. Don't sweat it. He evidently has no idea who Fami is and what she is capable of. His intro music tells you what music he is into and what he plays.. Nuff said..
@@grantnealon5101 If we are at all being charitable here, it’s not unreasonable for him to think she could mess up her first live performance (and him considering this, might explain his hyper-focus on looking for mistakes, at least compared to his first reaction to them); however, is it really that bad? He uses “extremely sloppy”. My overall opinion, is that this is one of the songs where I like the studio version better. This however is not specifically because of Fami, or any specific member, but as a whole.

@@grantnealon5101 “Why would you enter a reaction thinking like that” Most people know that reactors tend to do fake reactions by liking everything (almost equally) in order to receive more thumbs up/support and views, but some reactors also watch the videos prior to the reaction in order to have a better (or more prepared) analysis, and so he probably thought this was something he could point out. That could explain why he seemed so prepared. I would think the majority of reaction videos are fake in one way or another, and so I mostly only view them as advertisements for the band, rather than taking them too seriously.
"Extremely sloppy" you say. Not just "sloppy", but "EXTREMELY sloppy". It was a highly distorted 'dirty' bass sound as it was intended to be. To my ear, it sounded very close to the original studio track, so I am very curious what specifically you think was "extremely sloppy" about it. I suspect you haven't listened to the studio version of this song, so I don't understand how you could possibly know if she played it well or poorly. The sound quality in YOUR video is of a significantly lower quality that the original. I think you may have converted the original stereo sound into mono, so could that be part of the issue? I'll just add that I've watched hundreds of reactions to LOVEBITES live songs, including many dozens from professional musicians and I cannot recall ever hearing a single one of them criticise the musicianship of any LOVEBITES member. Some of them have criticised other aspects of a performance (e.g. vocals, lack of movement on stage etc.) but never the musicianship.
He made it clear that he preferred live video because of the mistakes that could be made... so... plus the sound of his video is one of the worst heard...
Not too sure what you found "sloppy" in the bass intro, but it's supposed to sound "dirty" with lots of distortion. Here's the studio version for comparison : ruclips.net/video/4ImGA7cPyrs/видео.html . Midori (blonde lead guitarist on stage right) plays an ESP E-II Horizon guitar, not an Ibanez.
Ha it’s definitely a tough bass sound to play, intentionally extreme. But ya, it matches the recorded version. It was also literally the bassist’s first live show! (Unless this was a two night stand?) I think she’d done duo type gigs to tracks in clubs, but she’s 20, RUclips bass star, won an open audition to join 9months before this (and did the album). I’m not even a big fan of this song, nor this version. And she’s naturally a slapper, not at all like Miho that she replaced. But the other songs I’ve seen from this DVD, she brings it, and even copies Miho’s difficult parts pretty well (even if, as a bassist, I know she varied the technique). I think it’s dropped D. But on a five string, so B D A D G. And this opening riff uses all the same (would be E) string, so she’s jumping from fret 2 to fret 8. If it’s sloppier than the album, that’s why Good reaction 🤘🎸💃😎

The bass line is intentionally Hardcore Punk Distortion. This is used in Metal,Punk and Rock but rarely in a country band setting. The Reactor is clearly not keen on the contrasts of other genre's besides his own.
The bass sounded on tempo to me. And the bass is supposed to sound “Dirty”. That’s why most people who know what they’re talking about call it dirty bass. This is why I hate when people who don’t normally listen to metal music try to do a reaction to it.

Well I can tell you never heard the studio version just from your critisism of newest member Fami with the intro that sounds almost to a T as it did in studio with extended version only difference You may want to listen to studio first before critisizing "You can do better" ]:P
He has listened to the studio version, and posted a reaction to it on this channel where he complimented the bass intro; which makes this even worse in a way lol.
The very muddy and dirty bass sound is not simple carelessness, it is deliberate. This song is something of a nod to Motorhead, and that almost sloppy, dirty sound was signature Lemmy! That said, the sound mix for this whole concert leaves a little bit to be desired. I think we were spoiled on the nearly perfect sound mix from Five of a Kind, that the mix for KaHG was a bit of a letdown. Some of Fami's notes in the intro simply didn't come through as strongly as some of the others, which I think lent to the illusion that she was off time.
I remember hearing this song for the first time - the video of the studio version, and the first thought that hit my mind was the drums reminded me so much of Phil Taylor in Motörhead
[ESP E-II Horizon FR QM Purple]. Midori's guitar looks "purple" in the live video. Original color not in the catalog. The quilted maple grain is beautifully visible through the purple see-through paint. Pickups were replaced with gold humbuckers. Hey, when you reacted to the studio version, you commented the bass intro quite positively with the words „Lemmy Style“. And that was on point, that’s the intention with the heavily distorted bass. And nobody else, ever criticized Fami‘s execution of the intro for this live version. And I cannot imagine that LOVEBITES and the record label would have chosen this version for an official live video if there are obvious huge mistakes in it. They are extremely professional and driven by perfectionism!
They didn’t have to put this particular video up, and specifically show off her playing at the beginning, if Lovebites themselves (as a band) thought it was messed up. This is especially true if they thought it was flawed to the degree you are suggesting here. They also didn’t have any pressure to put this particular video up, as not only do they have it as a music video (which they know it will be compared to), but they have recently been putting up so many other live videos on the channel already, with seemingly many more to choose from as well. All this would suggest, it is very likely that they don’t agree with you. Having said all of that, to me the studio version is better, but not because of any specific member (better as a whole).
Sounds like there is an echo on your voice. Also the song seems like it's in monophonic but that's OK for a reaction video. I hope it sounded OK when you listened to it.
WAIT A MINUTE! I’m not a musician but, doesn’t the bass is purposely distorted to sound like that? Fami is an amazing bass player, she has 6 times the amount of followers than Lovebites. You can check her videos playing the bass and she is great! So, was this a “sloppy bass”? Does it come from the mixing? Was she playing wrong? Did she play correctly and it supposed to sound like that on purpose? What the hell is going on? The Studio Version sounds exactly like that, so I think this reactor is not very knowledgeable about metal music? I think so…
It didn't sound like it "should" have in his opinion, even though he hadn't listened to the studio version to know what it actually should sound like. So, it may have been his 'opinion', but it was neither considered not informed.

Guys, I don't think the reactor means any harm. Basically, as far as the playing culture of country music and heavy metal is concerned, there are bound to be misinterpretations. What is good in one genre is bad in the other. The two types of music are from opposite ends of the musical universe. We know that the bass at the beginning of this song is supposed to be exactly as it is here.👉🎸👈
Agree. I know how to count beats and when he said that I was thinking, "Wait , did I miss something?" So I went back and played that intro section 3-4 times with my foot tapping to see if she was ever "off tempo" and I could not find a spot where she was. @@imarumusic

Super sloppy! wow.. this was kinda scream for more comments, right?
This band does not do sloppy...better get your ears checked!
Ok
only, more lovebites in live. Ty.
Sounds like there is an echo on your voice. Also the song seems like it's in monophonic but that's OK for a reaction video. I hope it sounded OK when you listened to it.
Midori ESP Horizon II
@@1970Phoenix He has listened to the studio version, and posted a reaction to it where he complimented the bass, which makes this even worse in a way lol.
I think that a country musician is just not used to distorted bass. Country bass is always clean in my opinion.

Like,Midori utiliza ESP guitars 🤘🐺🤘
Guys, I don't think the reactor means any harm. Basically, as far as the playing culture of country music and heavy metal is concerned, there are bound to be misinterpretations. What is good in one genre is bad in the other. The two types of music are from opposite ends of the musical universe.
We know that the bass at the beginning of this song is supposed to be exactly as it is here.👉🎸👈
you are the first reactor who had something negative to say about the bass intro to this song. maybe stick with taylor swift music.
😂😂😂👍
hahahaha 😂
It was straight 4/4 and nothing is wrong with the bass and he said that he was musician but he even can't counting a right tempo what a shame
Agree. I know how to count beats and when he said that I was thinking, "Wait , did I miss something?" So I went back and played that intro section 3-4 times with my foot tapping to see if she was ever "off tempo" and I could not find a spot where she was. @@imarumusic

Asami power house ✨🎤💯
This guy knows nothing about metal. No metal knowledge. Nothing.
Hey, just looking for likes or dislikes (there’s no bad publicity they say) being controversial, “not even on tempo” 😅
Your years and years of experience on bass… worthless. You need a little refresher on timing if you think that.
I'm going to take your "sloppy" comment and flush it because you don't know the song. Keep going through the LOVEBITES catalogue and get a better understanding of the band.
I came across them after my surgery 5 years ago and home confinement of 8 months. LOVEBITES is already one of my favorite bands of this century.
Blew the reaction right out of the gate. Your expert ears need fixing. It's a sound you just don't like is what your opinion should have been.
NO ESTÁ FUERA DE RITMO,
pero el sonido del bajo,en mi opinión,es feo no me gusta (cuestión de gusto).o quizas la cancion misma, con esa introduccion no es agradable. introducción
The voice of this guy is sloppy, sounds distorted. Maybe needs more studio time. Not watching this channel anymore.
I think you are prejudiced against females band and you were hired to react and bashing them
Dude can't even record his own audio properly. And look at his shorts, he hardly can play guitar without mistakes either.
I agree. The bass was sloppy in the beginning, and not in time even. But when they all kick in, it is was all class.
I agree on the bass intro as well
So you're both wrong. 😉
That's "dirty bass" and it's supposed to sound like that. This is a metal band. Not easy-ass country music. As for the, "I think we can do better," I doubt if you could lol. Just my opinion. People. This guy knows nothing about metal. Why is he even commenting on it. He is not a skilled musician. No metal knowledge. Nothing.
Your opinion is why you're sitting behind a desk, not up on stage.
😂 thanks
