  • My jeep XJ came with a rough country 3 inch lift kit but I switched out the front springs for a set of 3.5" Rubicon Express springs. Which is better?

its not the spacer that was the issue its the fact of the rc 3 inch coils have almost stock spring rates there to soft and then when lift it more it exaggerates everything I too, had to go to different Springs away from rough country because all their spring rates are too soft

i had the same and other combo on my jeep for years prob is the rc front coils are basically stock spring rate and coils then you have firmer leafs in rear and short shackle with rake i have now rc 4.5 coils and 3 inch leafs with shackle relocation with .75 lift shackle its level and rides really nice

I have the exact same springs. The RE 3.5" spring is more like 4.25-4.5" spring

Hey bud, you need to use that factory isolator with the spacer. That was likely the cause of some of your issues. That being said you should be much happier on the Rubicon express springs.

Why would that make a difference?

I did the Rubicon Express 3.5” full lift all a round springs and 3.5”-4” lift shocks you may find the adjustable front torsion bars links work great to raise and lower your front just not by much they are quick disconnect links. My 2001 XJ raises In the rear a bit very comfortable steers great, adjustable upper control arms sets all the camber.

My experience with RC springs is they are okay if you're a teenager who doesn't have any money and just wants to lift their Jeep. For a person looking for a nice ride in a Jeep, don't buy RC.

They're the same price guy. I doubt even you would shell out for RC's higher shelf Vertex line.

If you set your jeep up right mine rides great i have tgeese 3inch rough country springs with a custom made leaf pack in the rear on 35s rides great. Ive had clayton, rubicon express, metal cloak, fox shocks, zone, bds, and other lifts in the past. Ppl say rough country is junk, yea some of the stuff is junk, the leaf springs, the add a leafs the long arm kit is sub par. But there coils and control arms are just fine i run the cheap bushing on both side fixed lowers they take a beating. 3 inch lift 35s locked outwheeling high dollar rigs all the time. Budget build for the win. Best riding coils tho id say the progressive rate metal cloaks for a tj in an xj they ride pretty nice.
