Staging Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome
Stage I: One baby has too much fluid and the other baby does not have enough fluid.
Stage II: Cannot see the bladder fill in the donor fetus on ultrasound.
Stage III: Abnormal blood flow through the umbilical cord or fetal vessels around the heart for one or both babies.
Stage IV: An abnormal fluid collection in more than one body cavity, also known as hydrops. This can happen in one or both twins.
Stage V: The death of one or both babies.

Lauren, the fetalscopic laser surgery saved my twin girls 17 years ago. I ended up in Cincinnati to do the surgery. The only risk was going into preterm labor, which I did by the way, 26 days after surgery. I was do in March as well and ended having an emergency c section late November. Prayer is what got me through it all and the doctors and staff were so reassuring. The girls will recover immediately after surgery. My prayers are with you all. These babies are destined to be here safely, God will do it xoxoxo

My BFF from my neighborhood was pregnant at the same time as me with twins. She had twin to twin trans and the doctors were able to do the surgery.

I was already feeling a tad weepy this morning, and watching this just did me in. I felt the Lord saying to me, "Stop what you are doing and pray." Praying for you. My best friend had to have the surgery for her twins. She had it done in Ohio and got along great, and that was 16 years ago! Just think how much more advanced they are now! 🙏

Lauren my twins are fraternal boys born at 27 weeks! However my whole pregnancy I bleed because my placenta separated! Every week I was going to the hospital because I was bleeding, it was so stressful but once they were born they just gained weight like crazy! The day after they were born they took the oxygen off of them so I am confident your girls will be ok!! Just stay positive and don’t stress!

Hope you get a miracle! My niece just had twin to twin early this year, they did surgery for them in Canada. Girls were born at 28 weeks gestation, weighed 2.2 and 2.12. The girls are about 10 month old now and are both fine and healthy. You would never know they were preemies.

Big hugs. I was given hard news at the 20 week mark as well with my pregnancy and it took a mountain of strength to persevere with a positive outlook to the end. Continuing to pray for you all! Try your best not to project into the future. Take one moment at a time and be in it. NOBODY knows what the future holds. I am so GRATEFUL they caught this early and are so on top of things. You are in the BEST CARE!! I put your name on a Church's Prayer List. They have a Prayer Chapel and people go in around the clock to pray over the requests. Please KNOW that even at 2 am somebody is praying. You are deeply loved and NEVER alone.

Lauren, I am praying for you and the baby girls. Texas has some of the best NIC units. I had my baby 5 weeks early. They were awesome. I had an infection in my uterus after a fall early in my pregnancy . I didn't get to see my son for 5 days because I was running a fever. I lost several babies, and this was very emotional.

I don’t know exactly what you’re going through - but had a complicated pregnancy, delivered at 25.5 weeks via emergency C-section. It was quite the journey until we brought our daughter home at 2 months of age and 4 lb 1 oz…. Several times along the way we almost lost her - But God. Today she’s 21 years old… sassy and thriving. I’m praying for you and these precious girls. God is able to exceed the need! 💜🙏🏻

Please take care of you first. After the babies arrive you can be the “all do” mom. I spent from January 2 till March 2 waiting for my high risk baby to be born. His lungs were not developed fully but we have a healthy 6’2” wonderful son. Our prayers are with you!

New subscriber here. Twin to twin transfusion was our first granddaughter’s diagnosis in 2014. It was so new then to do any intervention that they didn’t make it. Our son now takes care of premmies as a respiratory therapist on a transport ambulance in Oregon, as well as NICU. His care and experience comforts others from his loss. May God keep your girls safe and be with you through this journey.
