I get the feeling that the daughter of the lady from Perseverance Mills (forgot her name) is dying from the outbreak, because the phone call at 2:26 says that Astrid should understand better than anyone. Revering too the child Will and Astrid had, who died.
I don't think it refers to this, but it's possible. It seems like Jane knows a little bit about Astrid's personal life and her past. It's definitely someone close to Jane.

I believe she is refering to Astrid and Will's loss of their child. So as a parent who has lost their child, and not that Astrid knows whats happening at Perseverance Mills. Astrid knows better than anyone that somwthing has to be done, before a child(I'm assuming) is lost.
I'm extremely excited for Perseverance Mills because I love town areas and this map could very well be our last map ever. Was also kind of hoping for Port Mary but I think that's just me being greedy
Lol. We will see. I think this region will be big though because it also needs to have the radio telescope as well.
One thing I can add to this discussion is some known effects of sleep deprivation, which seems to be the key affliction associated with Rudiger's experiments. One of the effects of sleep deprivation are hallucinations, which can start afflicting the sleep deprived. The immune system will also start to collapse, making the person more prone to pathogen based sicknesses, and another is exponential increase in the risk of heart attack.
Also, Rudiger's experiments seem to be based off of creating fields of high EMF (ElectroMagnetic Fields). Exposure to EMF can have different effects on people, but can include insomnia, nausea, hallucinations, feelings of dread or paranoia, and other long term harmful effects. The best term to describe a small room or closet surrounded with poorly shielded electrical would be a fear cage. So the scale of Rudiger's experiments would make the entire region being hit by those EMF spikes one giant fear cage.
The Glimmer Fog events are definitely charged with EMF, and seem localized only to areas near Rudiger's machine in the Langston Mine. That would indicate to me that some lingering effect of his machine is creating that phenomena, maybe the Security Chief couldn't turn it off fully or maybe the Foreman managed to get a partial restart on it before chasing after Rudiger? Or maybe like other electronics, the auroras are partially restarting it each time one occurs, like they partially restart other electronic devices like radios and lights?
Have you made a video on Methuselah in the winter mute story? His knowledge of the player actions and how he is always around were Mackenzie goes is very interesting and would love to learn about his character
That was supposed to be the next lore video before the recent update.
It be cool if they add another town style map because we dont have ehough of those, mountain town and bleak inlet, maybe pleasent valley are the biggest developed towns weve seen so far, other places are very wildernessy without much infastructure

It is. Most of the island is barren and dead. The whale processing plant, the dam, the cannery, and the mine have all been long dead when the game started.

I'm sure that's unrelated. They are probably from the various ships that may pass by the island.

The glimmer fog has something to do with this.
Thank you for joining us here. The glimmer fog was related to Rudiger's machine, but I don't know if PM also has glimmer fog. It would be interesting if it did.
I have Wintermute, are there other stories like that to play? Any idea when episode 5 will come out?
Episode 5 should come out before Christmas 2024. I'm not too sure about other stories like it.

Yeah. The glimmer fog comes from the machine, which is powered by the aurora in game.

I watched your Mines outbreak video btw
I looked up unitologists and find it interesting it is from Mass Effect. The devs seem to be a huge fan of the franchise. Male and Female Shepard are the voice actors for Will and Astrid. I would recommend you watch the video called What is Rudiger's New Horizon. It's from last week. That one explains everything you need to know about Rudiger, his machine, and what he really wanted to do. The machine is not a chemical weapon. It's not a weapon in general, at least that is not the intended use for it.

She talks her ex into taking her on a dangerous flight in a snowstorm. They crash as expected. She leaves him to die and doesn't even grab the suitcase with the medicine. Astrid is self serving narcissist who when push comes to shove only cares about herself.
The plot twist is she's the villain.
No. None of this happened. There was no way she knew the plane would crash or a freak solar flare would hit the earth. She was running to try to find help for Will. She was on a timer. She left a trail of pieces of her scarf behind to not lose her way back to the plane. How did you get any of this information from playing the game?

In fact that was one of my first thoughts when playing episode one.
That ungrateful woman left me to die and didn't even take the suitcase.
Like I said, the situation that Will and Astrid were in was life threatening. She didn't know where Will was after the crash. Will got launched down a ravine. She ran to find help, which didn't require her to bring the case. Why would she weigh herself down? She unfortunately couldn't come back to look for Will because of the prisoners that took over her town. She didn't leave Will intentionally. I don't know how anyone could play the game and possibly take this as what happened.
