I live in Sweden 🇸🇪 The prices in the grocery stores here are digital too and they fluctuate from day to day. It's very frustrating when writing weekly shopping lists and the prices change every week despite buying the same items weekly. Makes it hard to plan my monthly budget.
And with Kroger without the digital it happens 1 out of every 5 to 10 trips but they blame the computers. Now it will be 100% intentional. Always double check your receit!
Also pay attention to the prices on the grocery stores website and what the digital price tag says in the store. They are never the same. I asked the store workers why the prices on the website is lower and they gave me some BS excuse that the prices online haven't been changed "yet" because they have not updated the website. It's BS. Also, the card readers here in the cash register, they have a tiny hole where a camera records each customer paying for their purchases.
Stealing a job, little old lady at the Fred's I worked at had her own little cart and tag maker and wandered around the store checking products, product prices and location.
well yeah. Wendy's got caught using it and said they backpedaled. THEY DID NOT. why do you think it's all digital?? it's to adjust prices based on times and who you are. a customer behind you will never know.
Kids used to pay 21+ to buy them liquor. Now, the overweight will pay the thin to buy them cake (otherwise, price will be higher than their cholesterol). Welcome to the future! What progress!
yes, and most stores have set a buffer margin in the profit index to offset these very minor fluctuations to be within $0.05 of most grocery goods up until very recently.
I don't like it. It adds too much complexity to an otherwise already complex issue. They already have an average priced item that they are manipulating. People already try to shop when there is less people to make it easier on them if they are able to. I feel like this will just make people feel like they are being punished if they can't do that.
its the fact that the price can change from the time i grab the item put it in my cart, and head to the cashier/check out register. there is a thing called sticker price integrity in many countries. Canada for example, if something is priced wrong, $10 must be taken off the item. if the item is less than $10 the item must be given free. (this only applies to the first item, if you were to say, plan on buy 6 boxes of cookies.) the rest you can still refuse, but the first one HAS TO be given freely

this is going to start fights. when there are long lines, cashiers are moving too slowly, and the prices change before they check out
If the price that’s on the tag changes by the time I get to the register, I’m abandoning my cart. Make it harder for them to do this to us. SMH

stop shopping at these stores
Simply do not shop up at places who do this
It will be harder if the major grocery start using this technology.
Then where will you go?

So, if you ever shopped at Amazon, you should already know what dynamic pricing is. They have used this for YEARS.
Facial recognition is crazy. I'm gonna have to learn how to do make up like a Hollywood make up artist now to keep my prices low. 🤯
Oh man we are going to have 100% of people in grocery stores as "homeless" people.

consumer protection act needs another update.
This will only hurt single people, married couples will be fine
Comes down to income and kids. Everyone struggles if the correlation between the two are off.
how do you figure? it will hurt EVERYONE
AI price tags be like: "You look hungry... I can fix that."

if you see this. immediately complain to the management so they have to pass it up the chain and then shop somewhere else
The prices of all kinds of things fluctuate minute by minute and have for decades.

Wheeh!!
My state FINALLY stopped taxing food!
Which state? Tennessee?
@edwardrhoads7283 Kansas
I shop at Tom thumb. I find it's cheaper over all than kroger anyways
Let them do it and then watch gun violence in this country skyrocket. This is insane.
Yup. Dynamic pricing
Digital practices ❤
Fear Fear Fear... They already set prices based on conditions, none of this is new, other then the "need" to push fear

Stop whining about dynamic pricing and being able to feed your family. Please think of the C suite and share holders values.
Yes, please think about going Luigi on them...
So, when will Trump lower the grocery prices? Never? Oh, cool, cool. Why? Oh, he is in the Corporation's pocket? Ahhh yes, go figure...
But in 2 weeks inflation will magically disappear. Everything in the stores will continue to cost more but nope inflation will not exist....
Capitalism...
