Thanks for a comprehensive review of the new Passat Variant and in English. Looks good for a station wagon. I like the review and the reviewer. She speaks English fluently and it's good to know that the new B8 Passat has so much space despite her being 6 foot tall!

The approach angle looks small despite the claimed shorter front overhang, probably because the ride height looks lower than on the previous model. Have you not had a problem with the car scrapping its chin when driving over speed humps or when entering driveways?
Very nice. I look forward to anecdotal reliability assessments.
One big problem with this review: It is very hard to pay attention to the car.... Otherwise it`s a very good one.

I really like your review, it mixes between important information and light comments, very balanced opinion between the good and not so good from the car. The car is really nice, unfortunately, the VW Passat variant is not available in Canada and even less the 240 HP Diesel engine.

Thanks for the great review, Sarah. Good job ! I just have one question, may be you guys will know more in Germany, why hasn't there been a Passat R36 or Passat R since the B6 ? The Passat R36 Variant was a pretty good car, is it because the VW Group doesn't want it to compete with the Audi S4 Avant ? I know a lot of people were expecting a Passat R for the B7 and there were a lot of talks about it, at the end nothing happened.
I will be taking delivery in April, I'll let you know what i think of it when it arrives.

hi Sarah. hatte bis jetzt nur englische Reviews vom Jan gesehen. Dein Review hat mir sehr gut gefallen, gute weniger akzent belegte Sprache. Wirklich gut gemacht, weiter so Ausfahrt.TV.
Testet mal den neuen Peugot 308 GT als Hatch oder Combi, gern auch in der Diesel Variante mit automatic..... sehr interessantes Auto.

Was den Peugeot 308 GT angeht, so arbeiten wir leider nicht so eng mit den Franzosen zusammen als dass sie uns zu den internationalen Fahrveranstaltungen einladen. Somit auch erstmal kein Video. Vielleicht mal als Tester im Laufe von 2015. [Jan]

I own the previous model, and I can't wait for the new one to be available at the dealers for test drives. Hope this one will prove to have more reliable engines..

Ausfahrt.tv Fortunately I did not have big maintenance issues. But it is a well known fact that the "then new" 2.0 TDI PD engines were rushed to the market at the end of 2005 without proper testing, most of them fitted to the B6 Passat and usually 2-3 year old cars would have their injectors fail. Later there was even a recall or campaign to have them changed for free at the dealerships. Other issues concerned the oil pump, the dual-mass flywheel, turbo and different sensors. The common-rail fuel-system for the TDIs, introduced in 2009 resolved most of these issues.
So I'm curious what are the technical changes to the B8 diesel engines and ho will they perform on the long run.
Good review, maybe a little bit too in depth, in some regards. Try to stay on topic and not so much waffling next time, (my contructive critic bit).

The build quality, fit and finish of VW has gone from high quality straight to executive premium over the last decade. VW has always been a great brand but looking at all the new models, you'd think they're knocking on Audi's and Mercedes' doors these days. It's only brand snobbery that divides the customers.

I think exterior is better than interior and i hope that vw will change their interior design as soon as possible because nearly all german autos are improving their apperiance for inside but vw still not doing it.Sarah i am sorry you would love that car but i cant.

Excellent review, technical but charming at the same time. Definetely I like very much this car and I'm considering to buy. However I'm litte bit afraid because I have A4 and my last 3 cars were A4; I'm really satisfied with Audi and I don't know if will achieve the same level of satisfaction with the new Passat. I discard to go for another A4 becasue the current model is too old; the same generation that I have. The only downside of this A4 it's the legroom in the backseat when your precisely more thant 6 feet tall, like Sarah. For this reason I'm considering more the new restyling A6, the 190 HP ultra clean diesel Sline Stronic version, but I have the doubt between this A6 becasue maybe it's too big for daily driving or the Passat 240 HP full equip that you present in this video.
Price wise is more or less the same if I adjust the options in Audi. What do you think? Do you think that I will feel a downside with Passat versus Audi? You think quality of interiors, materials and engine of Passat makes you feel like one step behind?. Your comment about your feeling when you come into the Passat of an interior from the eigthies makes me think in this direction. However I think Passat it's a very rational car and I'm really atracted. Thanks for your help

OMG, this car looks fantastic. Bring the VW passat wagon to US, we desperately need a mid-size economy wagon. There is none in US except the outback, which is a good car, but we need other options! The golf wagon is too small, the honda crosstour, ugly as hell, toyota has none, mazda 6 wagon not in US! Bring this passat wagon, and vw will make a big success!

I didn't like that brown interior, it was very old-fashioned and cheap looking. I think grey or black is better.
