- Crossing from Colombia to Ecuador was very easy on the motorcycle. It's just 2 stops at each border and no fees or payments. You do not need motorcycle insurance in Ecuador and I don't think you can buy it anyways. Colombia was amazing but I'm excited to get into a new Country.

I'd forgotten about the toll roads in Ecuador and only had a $100 US bill. The lady at the tool booth was trying to make me turn around and find change but the very kind security guard payed for me. I've since found the rest of the tolls in Ecuador are free for bikes.

I had another great mistake where I filled my oil on the side of the road and forgot to put my oil cap back on. I turned around, searched for 30 mins but could not find it. Luckily, there's also a mechanic nearby and someone willing to help. A guy at a moto shop rode around town until he found me the correct cap. $8 plus a tip for a brand new cap. AND my lunch with a beer was only $3.50!

Right after the oil cap issues, I got pulled over (AGAIN) by the police. 100% my fault. They told me the fine was going to be $400 but of course, you can always pay a cash portion on the spot. I always start low and tell them I have no other money on me. Reminder to only have a minimal amount of cash visible and hide the rest. We settled on "all I had" which was $9.65. They even offered to take me to a bank machine but I said that none of my cards work in Ecuador.
