Tripping with Al

Just a Dude travelling around having fun. Life is short, make it a good lap.
I've now officially started my journey South. Not sure where I'm going but the plan is to take life one day at a time. Packed up my 2017 Kawasaki KLR650 and left Canada on July 9th, 2022. Headed into South America and maybe beyond?

Cuenca, Ecuador to the mountains & into Peru. S2 E8 It's all so beautiful. #trippingwithal
From Cuenca, Ecuador to Loja. Amazing cheap food & beers. Stunning mountain passes. It's all so amazing when you're not in a hurry. I'm happy that I'm choosing the "slow route" with zero itinerary.
Most of Ecuador has had rolling blackouts so you never when & if the next town will have power or not. It's all part of the journey though. I haven't paid over $18 for a hotel in a long time! (well, except for one).
My final night in Ecuador was Zumba. After that it was only about 25kms to the friendliest border crossing yet into Peru. Of course it took was longer that it should've but it was a great excuse to have a delicious lunch and a cheap ice cold beer.

Ecuador, The Equator, Manta, cool street art, finding Free Spirit Hostel & SNOW. #trippingwithal

I didn't even realize that I'd crossed the equator until I looked at my phone afterwards. I was off the main roads though. Ecuador has been amazing. The mountains, street art & small towns are great. I hit every kind of weather you can think of up in the mountains though. SNOW, FOG, RAIN, SUN and everything in between. . It was so great to reconnect with my buddy Daniel at Free Spirit Hostal in...
Colombia - Ecuador, Police shakedown, Oil issues & AMAZING scenery. S2 E6 Cheap hotels & potholes.

Crossing from Colombia to Ecuador was very easy on the motorcycle. It's just 2 stops at each border and no fees or payments. You do not need motorcycle insurance in Ecuador and I don't think you can buy it anyways. Colombia was amazing but I'm excited to get into a new Country. . I'd forgotten about the toll roads in Ecuador and only had a $100 US bill. The lady at the tool booth was trying to ...

Colombia is beautiful. So many places to see. Donkey Sunrise has been on my list for quite sometime as I had a buddy stay there for months. It did not disappoint as The Circus was in town when I arrived and the 4 volunteers hanging out there had already planned on going. I of course just had to join them. I was about 10 beers deep before we even got there so had a great time. . I ended up spend...
Gondolas in Medellín, 1600 step in El Peñól de Guatapé & some Mountain Roads with unreal scenery.

A week in Colombia feels like a month. Lots of kms on the bike but they area all enjoyable. Medellín to El Peñól de Guatapé (very famous massive rock that has 740 stairs attached to get you to the top, unless you rent the Helicopter) then up into the mountains. I'm averaging about $14 per hotel room. Gas is $1 litre and food is cheap and great. Put Colombia on your list of places to go for sure...
Al gets drunk at Colombia/ Argentina Soccer Match, S2 E3. + POLICE. Santa Marta to almost Medellin

Once again lots has happened. After I got my flat tire fixed in Santa Marta I made my way to Barranquilla. As soon as I arrived, I found out that Colombia was playing Argentina in a World Cup Qualifier. The game was starting in 30 mins and I was 28 away in an Uber. I bought a fake ticket for $50 and couldn't get in. I found the guy and got my money back though. Proceeded to get fairly drunk in ...
Police, Flat Tire, Free Tolls, End of Blockades & BIGGEST DAY on my bike, +700kms in a day. S2E2
Просмотров 227Месяц назад
Starting out in Velez, Colombia avoiding blockades/ Protests and ending up in Santa Marta, Columbia. Equals one MASSIVE DAY and never again will I do that many kms unless it's absolutely necessary. On the plus side, the bike is running great. On the negative, I have no dashboard lights and did not enjoy riding at night. BUT, what's done is done. The working title for my Biography right now is "...
Flying my bike over The Darien Gap. Right into Colombia protests blockades over a diesel price hike.

Arrived in Colombia just in time to experience Countrywide blockades / protests due to a spike in Diesel prices. It was an experience for sure. Never any danger, just a great experience. I only wish my Spanish was better so that I could've talked to more people about it when I was stuck at the blockades. It was quite a bonding moment between us all for sure. . My advice for anyone traveling, go slow, take lots of videos & photo's. Post lots cause then it's saved for ever. It's too easy to forget places, people and things so label all your content as you save it. With all that said, ANY Trip is an unreal trip. If you can only take 2 weeks, then take 2 weeks. If you can only afford 10 days, have the best 10 days of your life. Don't wait, do all the awe...
Back 2 Bocas 2 Boquete 4 some waterfall hiking to Bye Leanne. She's CRAZY but now she's gone.

For sure it was a fun LONG 10 days with Leanne. I know I'm not the easiest dude to travel with as well cause I'm on a budget and I don't like to spend money that I don't have. I'm traveling for the long game, not the short game. Regardless, it was fun hanging out with Ms Krazy and I hope she had a great time. My time in Panama is quickly coming to an end. It's almost decision time. Turn around ...
Panama City, The Famous Canal & Colon. Oh, & picking up my CRAZY Friend Leanne at the airport.

After I got my 1rst speeding ticket of this trip, I bombed to Panama City to get ready to meet Leanne. The bike is NOT running awesome but we are narrowing the problems down (I hope). Leanne arrived safe and sound at the Panama City, Panama airport. We had a full 1/2 day at the Canal, it's UNREAL! An engineering marvel for sure. Our plans then changed a bit as all the buses heading West were so...

Skully's Hostel is the best place I'VE EVER BEEN (for a hostel). So unreal, I'm heading back. I had some sleepless nights thinking about what was wrong with the motorcycle. It's not fixed yet. I was stoked to see some fellow Kawasaki, 650 KLR Riders out on the road. 8 in fact ended up being 3 mins behind me at a Police Check Stop. I managed to chat with 1 of them for about 30 seconds but they w...

Adios to my Motorcycle and hello to the San Lorenzo 104' Super Yacht for a couple weeks. I'm a sucker for an adventures and I couldn't say NO when asked if I'd fly to the Bahamas to jump onboard and help move the Yacht. The fact that I'd never been to The Bahamas made the decision even easier. This was the same yacht that I crossed the Atlantic Ocean on back in episodes 92-97. Was in Nassau, Ba...

Riddle me this: Why when you are in SOUTH America are you still NORTH of the equator.
next question... You know I smoked a lot of weed in High School right?

There's bit of a back story to "5 Grandes Idiotas". 11 yrs ago we did a Tuk Tuk "race" across Peru. I changed my old jacket into a vest. ruclips.net/video/Ck38ZwsEOQQ/видео.html

what another great vid AL!! we really enjoy watching them and following you on your adventures! Loved the circus !!!
The Circus was so worth the $5.
Cool cool 👍
it has been a little cool riding in the mountains sometimes for sure!

Hello! I just discovered this video and I can see it's a very nice one. As a Colombian myself, I haven't visited Guatape in person, but it's nice to explore the country through videos. Greetings from de beautiful department of Choco! 😉

Another great video Al. Columbia looks amazing
Some of the roads are unreal Jeremy. The mountains are like a movie set.
It's ColOmbia, not colmbia!
Heck yea i want to come ride in Columbia. Miss you buddy. Im loving the videos. Can’t wait for the next one.
The mountain roads are so amazing here BUT I can't wait to get into the mountain roads in Ecuador & Peru!
Loved how you told to the guy “yo soy borracho” 😂😂
sometimes you have to tell the truth!
If you'd like to or are able to, I sure appreciate the support towards more travel and more videos. buymeacoffee.com/trippingwithal
yo soy borracho jajajajajaja😂
I've been "yo soy borracho" a couple times in the last 2 weeks!
Fort Lauderdale: Viking Death Diving, beers, and Salvation Army T-shirts? Sounds like the ultimate Floridian adventure! Who knew diving and thrift shopping made such a perfect combo?
The death diving reminded me of our old ferry dock diving sessions.
Crossing flooded rivers on a KLR650-talk about living on the edge! How deep is deep? Apparently, rainy season = hope you packed your snorkel!
I'm not sure who said that a KLR can't swim but they were wrong. My bike is basically Michael Phelps.
Ferries, murals, and windmills-Costa Rica really knows how to keep it interesting! Back on the pavement and ready for more adventures. Just watch out for those scenic distractions
I always have one eye on the road and one eye looking out for street art.
From Bocas to Panama City and boom-first speeding ticket! Guess that’s how you know the trip’s getting serious. 😂 Keep the throttle in check, but don’t slow down on the adventures! 🏍🚨
The best part is that when I went to pay my ticket, I didn't exist in their system! At least I tried to do the right thing. Don't tell Panama that I also broke one of their toll gates.
Panama City, the canal, and Colon-checking all the boxes! And of course, picking up your crazy friend Leanne for extra adventure. Can’t wait to see what chaos you two get into next!
The Canal is an engineering masterpiece. It's so worth the tour and you get an Imax film. Any movie that Morgan Freeman narrates is going to be good.
Back to Bocas, then off to Boquete for some waterfall hikes-what a ride! Leanne might be crazy, but it sounds like she kept things interesting. Now it’s just you and the trails!
For sure put Panama on your list Barry. Leanne is crazy but on the good side of the scale.
Central America highlights! Sounds like slowing down was the way to go. Who needs to rush when you’ve got all that beauty to soak in? Can’t wait to see what caught your eye-probably more than just the food!
To me "Rush" is a kickass Canadian Rock Band and not something you do.
Flying your motorbike over the Darien Gap? That's some wild next-level riding! And landing straight into protests. At least you had the bike to outrun the chaos!
My KLR deserves a nice airplane ride if I'm getting one. It sure was an interesting first week in Colombia though.
Wow, what an adventure! 700km in a day is insane, and with all those challenges too-police, flat tires, and blockades? You really powered through it all. Love how you stayed positive and kept going despite the obstacles. Inspiring to see such determination on your bike journey!
700 kms was way too much to be honest but I was stuck in between places. Thanks for watching Barry! I miss you brother!
Love the shower seen. 😂 only fans watch out.

Travelling isn't cheap but I'm trying to live an inexpensive as possible. Gracias for your support. buymeacoffee.com/trippingwithal
Love your large eyebrow hair sticking out and nose giz! Lol. Bogota is where my buddy is from. Cool looking place.
It's a good thing I'm not vain. I should consult a mirror every now & then though but I'm more of a "one take, spontaneous kinda dude" when it comes to filming. PS: the nose giz is sunscreen, not cocaine. NOBODY has tried to sell me any yet!
What an adventure u are on. Loved every second of this video! Amazing!!
Cheers! It's been a great ride so far.
Hey, everyone is allowed to be cranky once in awhile. Glad u chased those waterfalls, beautiful! Beaches are incredible too!!

Scares the crap out of me when u cut in-between the cars 😮 Thanks for the Panama Canal info , interesting 👍 Hi Leanne.
You've got to lane split or you'll never get anywhere in Central & South America. I try not to do it unless I have to. It's too hot to idle in traffic.
