I too have found that my HW30 and HW50 are truly great rifles to shoot with. I've been waiting for the Canadian dealer for Weihrauch to replenish his stock as I want to order the HW97 . I will order one as soon as he gets them in. Thanks for this and I agree that you simply do need more than one air rifle.
@@marcmyers1465 Why do you prefer 50 over 95, if you don't mind me asking? I am thinking of adding one of those to my small collection (only HW30S) and cannot decide which one to get. Thanks
@@Beyondthebite2024Sorry for the late reply, Sir. I just really enjoy the weight, length, and handling of the HW50S. 😉👌 I am primarily a hunter and am constantly trying to refine the perfect Carbine, and the HW50S just fits the niche so perfectly ! 😁 For short close range ground clearing a .22 HW50S with a 2-7 Airmax scope is hard to beat, but at 40 to 50 yards you really want to consider the HW50S in .177 with an Airmax 3-9 and just go with heavier pellets. Now, mind you I would NOT turn my nose up to a .22 HW95K Field Pro with the (True Carbine) threaded barrel, and an Optisan CP 3-12×32 w/ BKL 388 adjustable C- mount... ☺️
For me, the perfect Airgun is also the HW50s and directly followed by the HW35E. Both are great, very accurate, and reliable guns. The 50s is so lightweight and the 35E looks so awesome.
Dear Kevin Thank you for your video. I agree the HW 30 is a lot of fun to shoot... I have managed to collect four of them over the years...say no more! Kind regards.
Hi Kevin, What a great choice. I have a 97,77,80,35E and 35. Beautiful quality and engineering. Always a pleasure to pick any of them up to shoot. Hate to have to choose between them. Keep filming. David U.K.
I know what you mean, I have the same 3 guns. They are really good...but I would probably also consider TX200 and HW35E in the top. When shooting my HW35 and HW35E it is pure Joy...the smooth cocking and soundless closing ...adds to the superb quality feel of Weihrauch.
I'm with you! In almost all my wftf piston competitions, I use my hw97s . Pretty much, a top choice IMHO. The only thing that the tx200 has on the hw's is the ease of breaking down and reassemble time,, really that's it!
@@marcmyers1465 I have a tx200 that I shoot and don't get me wrong the rifle is very well made but what really bothered me was ? You spend all that money on the rifle then you figure out you need a short stroke piston for it, because it's way, way to hold sensitive and the spring is junk. So after all that, then you can shoot the rifle accurate. Literally, with my hw97s I simply adjusted the trigger and dropped a vortek 12fpe spring in the rifles and that was it. They still out shoot my tx200.
@@LHB33My own experience was quite similar I went through seven rifles over the years for F/T. I started with an HW97K, and ended up with an HW97K and I won't miss 5 of those... 😉
@@marcmyers1465 I have to give a shout out to Cameron who won the WFTF world championships this year, congratulations!!! Here's some irony for you Marc, especially with our conversation about the hw97k. Cameron won with his TX200!
All those rifles you have are beautiful, and you’re right the hw97 is just a wonderful gun and I also like HW 95, it’s a Tac driver, and never lets me down!!
I just bought the R7 .. I'm thinking of TX 200 but I had the HW 97 blue , you right HW97 is stupid accuracy 😂😂.. I had that for 6 yrs.. still a dime ten shot at 30 yards.. Your stock look better .. I like it Sir..
Being a manufacturing expert myself, (Machining mostly), with a quality control engineering degree (1 of 3 degrees ion manufacturing), I can fully appreciate great quality products, (not many are today). But once you learn to shoot a good mag gun (about 30fpe) at 65 yards with 2" groups, (show me the 60 yard groups please), you will probably never to back to a 12-16 fpe gun. Hatsan is not very good quality, but Gamo is pretty good quality. My springer of choice is the Gen 2 Gamo mag .22 (Gen 2 has the open sights also, which are pretty cheesy, but nice to test if a scope is broke or not), with a small Leupold freedom adjustable objective 3-9 scope. Yes, I have broke the scope twice (5000 shots the first time, 2000 shots the second time. Most scopes don't last 500 shots on a mag springer), but it has a lifetime warranty, so I just send it back for repair. For quality, I would love to try one of these guns, (and the nice trigger). But they simply don't have the power I want. With my shooting technique, I can shoot any springer well with enough set up and practice, even with a lousy Bengamin Titan trigger. But I will admit, a good trigger is very nice to have, with my "no touch" shooting technique. IMO, springers take the most amount of technique to shoot well, and that is why we don't see good groups at 60 yards or more on YT. But, the guns are capable of it. (set up well and a good scope of course). With enough time working with a springer, I don't think there is one made that I can not shoot 1" groups pretty consistently at 40 yards. It would be nice to have top quality, and 30 fpe. Gamo is petty much there with the quality. My gripe about Gamo, is you can't buy replacement parts for the gun unless you go through a licensed firearms dealer, and I have not found one that is willing to sell springer parts. It is silly to be able to buy the gun from a air gun store, but not the parts. Because of that policy, I do have a dead Gamo gun with a blown cylinder, (my fault with the blown cylinder. Not a manufacturing quality issue). Until Weihrauch makes a gun with 30 fpe, I will stick with the Gamo mag (10 shot magazine is nice too). If anybody wants to shoot for money to 80 yards, I am Game-o. Bring it. :) Doug in Michigan
Great video Kevin! I couldn't agree more.... My HW30s is also my favorite all rounder. No effort to cock, silky smooth firing cycle with hardly any recoil! And most importantly- very accurate!! It will give most high end pcp's a run for its money out to 30 yards! Thanks for sharing and have super day!
If I were to have an air rifle, it would be my webley tracker 22. It weighs little, is flexible, has the power and precision you need and a beautiful walnut stock, what more could you ask for.
I have 2 out of your 3 choices and in my opinion my go to rifle is the hw97 in 22. It never loses zero and have shot multiple pigeons with it. They never get back up to fly off. As to weight I fitted a sling so it isn't a problem carrying in the field. I have 2 hw97k's in 22 and 177 and also the hw30. Plus I have numerous hw77's in various set ups. I have a hw80 too but find it too hold sensitive to take out in the field.
That's an impressive arsenal, Steve. Although I'd consider it a bit too heavy as a field gun, I imagine that in the proper (strong) hands that it would be a formidable hunter.
I have some springers that I really like, all in .177, I don't like .22 springers. I have some absolutely fantastic ones like a TX200, FWB 300, an HW85, two HW50s, one from 2017 and another from 1974 where I don't use scope, this one I use for plinking. If I had to choose just one, I would definitely go with the 2017 HW50. In addition to the ones I mentioned, I have others but the 50 is the springer with which I can do whatever I want and it does it well.
Hi Kevin! Great choice my friend. I would have picked almost the same trio from my collection. Only for hunting i would not have taken the HW50 but the HW35E instead because it,s more quiet to cock and i like to have a gunsling out in the woods. Thanks for showing the best springers money can buy 👌 I hope it will never happen to me that i have to pick only one i could keep 😨😵💫
Hi Ron! The 35E is a terrific choice for hunting, and I believe that it was designed with hunting in mind. The only thing that puts me off is the weight. If I was a younger man, the weight would be less of an issue. Thanks as always, my friend.
Hi again great video as usual, my under leaver is my hw 77 that I have had for possibly some 30 years, its in 177 and was tuned and modified at Venom arms of Birmingham, legendary airgun tuners here in the UK 🇬🇧, at present waiting for a limited edition 50 s to arrive at my local gun shop, so many toys not enough time , stay safe cheers for now
Hi, Anthony. That 57 is a sweet rifle. Anything that Venom got their hands on is pretty special. Congratulations on a fine gun. That 50S is one of my favorites. Nice weight : power ratio. Good choice. As always, thanks for watching, my friend.
We have almost all the same guns and your selection is a great guide for someone getting into air rifles and I would agree in your selections and why. I have three HW95s in each of the calibers and find its a happy compromise of power and good weight. My favorite gun is my FWB150 and I would never get rid of it. It will place pellet after pellet in the same hole and will also sit for days and be right on. I think this has to do with spring tension changing from sitting. Some of mine need 10 shots without adjustment to come back to zero but it's interesting that you mention it. If someone asks me what I pull off the shelf the most it's one of my HW30/R7. They are just so much fun to shoot. I have replaced the stocks on them because I feel cramped by the smaller factory stocks. All of my guns are tuned which I feel is necessary to preserve and to get the best accuracy. You should do a video for those getting into this on caliber selection, pellet testing, scopes and tuning.
Hw97 for target, Hw80 (beeman R1 in USA I think) for timeless traditional power. The 35 is very close though.. for pleasure plinking fun.. the cheapest Chinese break barrel tuned for smoothness and no twang! Also a crown polish helps :)
@@razor1962 I've an HW 35k .. very old with a leather washer, had a HW 97 it was superb! Now I can't get out much and my club closed I gave it to a good friend. Had an Air Arms TX200 great gun too..but the lock open catch wound me up and the trigger group, although very good, is no Rekord. The cheapo Chinese break barrel..well it's currently the cheapest air rifle for sale in UK! I bought it for the enjoyment of tuning a very rough gun. Lots of polishing, making guides, barrel crown and polish is like a different gun! Down tuned for plinking and it has decent iron sights. Great fun for blasting beer cans etc while enjoying a BBQ and beer in the garden..and it's tough as an old boot so it doesn't matter if it gets knocked about:)
@mark70s29 OK, Mark, now I understand. There's a lot of you in that little Chinese springer. You've invested much time and care. Makes perfect sense and a fine choice as well.
I've owned the HW 97 .22 , HW 35 .22 , HW 95 had two in .22 and one in .177 , my go to rifle is the HW 99 .22 , quite agree a million times the HW range of air rifles a magical , they take some beating , cheers
I almost asked this question on another of your videos. I have a 97 and 95 in.177 and they are amazing to shoot. I also have a hw 80 in .22 which also shoots well, but not quite as well. Really like your channel.
You got me into these Weihrauch springers so I came back for more. BTW - Clausty's are the best non alcohol beer going, another good choice. You're doing what I like to do, just sit, plink and have a beer in the yard. My situation is a bit different since I have almost no foliaged, I'm really suburban/urban. So I turn on the TV with some football, basketball, or golf ....have a beer and plink mostly with my HW30 & HW50. That's my idea of multi-tasking. Oh ya when I'm done then take a nap. A perfect day!
That's like having to choose your favorite child. Each one has it's particular niche and does it very well. It seems the marketing of othe manufacturers puts too much emphasis on high velocity but what counts is accuracy. This is why some overlook the HW50s
Speed is overrated. That's what airguns are supposed to prove. Somewhere along the line, the "More Is Better" mentality infected the sport. The 50S does everything that a field gun should do, and it does it well.
@@razor1962Most of the younger guys didn't get the Memo... 🤷🏼♂️ Robert Law went to a great deal of trouble laying it all out for folks back before The Great Magnum War. Even the Veterans of the Great War were eventually overrun by the Inevitable PCP war that followed... 😟 That was really more of a Special Operation to mop up the Super Magnum subversives though ? 🤔
I understand your choices. I've had guns from Daystate, Air Arms, Anshutz, Walther, Steyr, RWS/Diana etc. Many shot brilliantly but lacked something. For whatever reason I found them dull or I hated the trigger. The guns that stayed in my collection throughout the years are all Weihrauch. Currently a HW30S in .177 and .22, a HW85 .20 and a HW95 in .25. I also shoot the HW45 pistol and that is the best spring pistol I've ever shot.
You've got good taste, Andrew. Although those other brands are not to be snubbed. The Rekord trigger is a feature that can only be found on a Weihrauch. I don't believe that it's a coincidence that they remain in high praise.
enjoy your videos . classic question and it depends. Had all the current spring and gas strut(hw90) hw models except the current model 50S. Agree about hw97, easy to be accurate with . Favorite ...perhaps . I have after many years fallen back in love with the hw35 and bought a new one a couple of years ago, about 10 ftlbs in 0177. Currently all my hws are in 0177. Used to really like models from Diana,BSA and Airarms (even had the break barrel Pro Elite) . Think the Airarms TX would be equal to the best of the HWs. TX s are absolutely easier to service.Interesting how some models just feels better in a certain caliber .
The 35 is a proven design and a classic air rifle. I'm certain that it fills your needs as a serious hunting gun quite well. Thanks as always, my friend.
I have a Beeman R7 tuned by Paul Watts, a Walthers LGV Master in .22 and a FWB 300S Mini. I sold a HW 97K, great rifle but too heavy and I didn't bond with it. I also sold a HW 80. My best group has been with the R7 at 20 yds--1/8" center to center. Basically just one small hole. I did some fly hunting at 20 yds with the Walthers .22-got four and a "possible". How does one attract flies to white paper you ask? See my dogs for the answer 🙂
I'm way ahead of ya' on the fly bait, Mike. Great minds, my friend, great minds... I'm not surprised to hear of the accuracy of your R7. Mine is amazing as well. The 97K is a heavy gun, for sure. Especially when you add the type of scope that it deserves. My LVG is a tack driver. My only complaint on all of my Walther rifles is the safety system. I've removed the safeties all together on 3 of my 4 Walther rifles. The fourth gun will fire when the safety is disengaged if you were absent-minded and pulled the trigger while the safety was engaged. Anyway, thanks for watching, my friend.
The 97 was the most expensive of my ARs, probably the most accurate and certainly the one most admired in the AR community. And yet it was the one I enjoyed shooting the least. I've been in the Dark World of PBs for the last 10 years but my Springer interest has been rejuvenated, The Lust has returned 🙂 Glad I found your channel.@@razor1962
if l had to keep one it would be my sheridan c from 1971 classic air gun. .20 cal perfect pellet gun. open sights just a very cool air gun. walnut and brass sheridan built those to last a life time. stronger than what they were used for. sherdian back in the day crafted a perfect air gun.
Great video Kevin, and I absolutely agree, it's hard to choose just the one, my top 3 would be exactly the same, however, I'd be torn between the 50s and the 95k, the 50 gets it on the weight but the 95 is such a good alrounder. PS the German beer goes well with your selection.👍👍👍
@bojannovkovic8818 Either choice is a good one. The 95 has the edge in power. However, it's at the expense of extra weight. Are you considering it for hunting or just for fun? Personally, I like the 50S as I feel that it's the perfect compromise between power and weight in a small game hunting package.
@@razor1962 Hi There, I'm lucky enough to have both the 50s and the 95k, but where I am in Spain it is illegal to hunt with air so I am a target shooter only, both are a pleasure to shoot, the 30s and the 97k are equally spot on, 4 rifles I would never sell. All 4 are exceptional, each for there own reasons.
KEVIN: First of all let me send you my greetings from the High Desert of Aguanga, California. Also, I thoroughly enjoy each of your yutube videos. Thank you. Now for my response as to which airgun I'd keep above all others: my TX200 MKIII, .22 cal, in walnut. Of course my HW97K, .22 cal, in walnut comes in a close 2nd. Although a fine trigger is of importance to me, I tend to call myself an underlever, springer kind of guy. I love springers where there is absolutely no chance of the barrel shifting on me. I think of you kindly as I ring my ship's bell out at 50 yds. Good day, friend. Orv Hazelton.
Thanks very much, my friend. As far as the stainless look is concerned, to be truthful, I prefer blued steel. However, I can perfectly understand someone else preferring the nickle plated version. I have a custom stocked HW50S in nickle. It really makes for an attractive rifle.
Hey Kevin, Thanks again for a great video. By the way, what type of scope do you have on your airguns? Are they all the same brand, model, and type? I'm trying to get an idea on what to budget for my kids if I get them each their own HW, scope, sling, soft case, and ammo. Both of my kids are going to be joining JROTC and the NRA and I want to make sure that they enjoy every minute of it. I doubt I will be buying everything at once. But I think once they start shooting they will really love it. So I want to make sure to start them off with quality products and gear. Thanks again. Stay Safe. Be Well. GOD BLESS.
Hi Ken. That's great that your kids will be involved in the shooting sports. A Weihrauch is a gift that will last a lifetime and then some. I use use a wide range of scopes on my guns. Most of my Weihrauchs wear Hawke Airmax scopes. I'm particularly fond of their 4- 12 X 40mm. On the more affordable end , I've had good luck with the Hammers 4-12 as well. My 97K sports an Aztec Emerald 3-18 X 50. There are a lot of choices in every conceivable price range. Still, you can't go wrong with a Hawke. Thanks as always, my friend.
@@razor1962 Hey Kevin, Thanks again for your prompt reply. I will look into those scope models. It's always a real pleasure watching your videos. Stay Safe. Be Well. GOD BLESS.
I have all three of them, and I couldn't agree more that they are wonderful. but personally, I would prefer AATX200HC over the HW97K. My TX200HC is more accurate than HW97k don't know why.
Awesome video showing all 3 beatiful guns and i agree with you with the HW97K being a great accurate rifle and beatiful but it is just so heavy and the only time i enjoy taking it with me shooting is when i take my shooting table with me to bench shoot with bags other wise i dont like taking it. If i had a table in my yard with property that i can shoot at with out my nosy ass neighbors not bothering me then i would shoot it a lot more.
I agree John. The 97K is definitely best suited to bench shooting. However, it holds it own in Field Target too. It's definitely not an ideal hunting or plinking rifle.
For sheer convenience, weight and handling... Either the HW50S or HW95K ? 🤔 The accuracy is all there you just have to be honest with yourself about your most common or desired range, and naturally your own abilities, but most folks might be shocked to learn just how EASY it is for them to shoot a properly fitted and sorted rifle with the correct optic ! 😉 Weihrauch never would have built all of these rifles if the HW97K was perfect for everyone. Put 250 rounds through an HW97 in one session and she becomes a Brutal mistress ! 😖
Hello again. For those who haven't seen the bell shown in some my other videos, it's a 14" diameter, used up, diamond abrasive, demolition saw blade. It makes a great gong. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Those Meteors were wonderful rifles. I still have my first air rifle, too. It's a Sheridan Blue Streak pump pneumatic that my father bought for me 49 years ago, and it still works perfectly. I understand exactly why you won't part with your Meteor. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Many of our U.K. subscribers will lament your local power restrictions, but the fact is You Blokes have gotten So Very Good at Tuning, Working, and Shooting within those parameters that it's Absolutely Amazing the things that you can actually do within those parameters on a daily basis ! 😲 Just setting the rifle up at the prescribed levels you have become so adept at tuning, scoping, and competing "Specifically" and even detuning to arrive at Optimum firing Characteristics & Accuracy you've created a Bloody Art Form out of the HW50S... 😳 It is Seriously Impressive ! 👏... Well Done !!! 😃👍 I know you've done the same for multiple formats over the years, but by comparison many shooters over here in the states can barely tell you from day to day what their rifles output actually is ? 🤷🏼♂️ Many don't even Own a Chrony or have any intended level of performance other than Max. FAC... 🤦🏼♂️ They may want Accuracy or Hunting results but in the absence of that intimate understanding of their own rifle they honestly don't have a clue how to get their. 😏 The best most can hope for is to purchase an off the shelf kit, install it and hope for the best! 🙏 WELL ?... Heavy, accurate, and very powerful. Insanely good trigger and solid German craftsmanship. If you don't mind lugging around better than 10 lbs, it's probably closer to 12 lbs with a scope installed. it's a hammer. Recommend it in .22 cal.
thinking on which one to buy... is there a reason hw35 is not in those three? i wound compare it maybe to hw50 (money wise), how would you compare those two?
The HW35 is in a class of its own. It's a time-tested and mostly unchanged design for somewhere around seventy years. There's a really good reason for that. I would never steer someone away from a 35. Especially if it's a 35E. 😉 Those were my choices in the video. That's all. If you're leaning towards a 35, I can assure you that you won't be disappointed.
Hi Kevin,I agree with you,I own all three air Rifles, all weihrauch Rifles are my favourite even there air pistols. What's your favourite air pistol?maybe do a favourite pistol video
Hello, and thanks for watching. The 50s will be plenty for squirrels in either caliber. I have one in .177 and one in .22 Both are up to the task. Thanks again, my friend.
@oberynmartell5429 My .177 50s has a "soft kit" installed. It's only producing 11.8 joules. The standard velocity generates considerably more energy. My .22 50s has a "high output" kit installed and it's making 18.3 joules.
@oberynmartell5429 I've no direct experience with the 57. I do have a friend who's also a piston gun enthusiast who has one. He claims that it's slightly less accurate than his other HW rifles. Probably due to the loading system, which necessitates the pellet having to make the jump from the port to the rifling.
Doesn't surprise my that you went all German, they do make the best rifles, maybe the best of most things 😂 I understand about the rifle not falling into place the same every time..... Just picked up a mid 1970s Anschutz 54 match, I'm making a new square edged cheek piece to match my modern target rifle.... The original rounded cheek piece, I can never get my view through the diopter the same when I go back to the gun.
Thanks, Malcolm. Don't give me too much credit. There's plenty of folks who could teach me a thing or two. Thanks for the ego boost, though, and thanks for watching too.
Hi. Great video. I have the HW95K and I am extremely happy with it. Great looking rifle and beautifully made. Take care and keep producing these great videos.
I love your video channel and ive only just discovered it. Im not what you would call a man who is out regularly shooting. In fact my number one hobby has been flying rc model aeroplanes for the last 38 years at my local club. But if i go back to 1988 i decided i would love to buy an air riffle , so i went to my local gun shop and the owner of the store sold me a Weihrauch HW 35. At that stage it was 10 years of age and here me are in 2024 and that air riffle is still shooting strong. After watching a couple of your videos i would like to buy either HW 50s or a HW 97k. I think maybe for the type of shooting i do , then the HW 50 s maybe the right gun for me as i just use it was target shooting and i dont go hunting. Keep up the good work, i will always tune in. Do you think the HW 50s would suit me after shooting with the HW 35 for the last 36 years? Kind regards.
They still make the 35 and the 35E. Just sayin '... Although the stocks have changed somewhat. It'll be a tough act to follow, for sure. After having owned a model 35, I doubt that you'd be satisfied with a 50S. Don't get me wrong, the 50S is a terrific rifle, but the 35 is unmatched in its elegance and reputation. Of course, I don't need to sell you on the rifle. You know the rifle. If, on the other hand, you're just looking for something different, consider that 97K. It's heavy, but it's tack driver. Just my thoughts on the matter. Thanks so much for watching, my friend.
Thank you so much for that good advice. Im going to look at the 97k. I Ithink thats the riffle with the under lever. The old hw35 has served me well. Im looking for something a bit different and the 97k could be the one. Its a nice looking riffle.Just one more question, my old 35 was .22. Would you advise me this time round to go for the 97k in 177 calibre? Kind regards. @@razor1962
@easystar123 How old are you, my friend? If you're up around my age where most of my viewers are, then I'd recommend a .22 for no other reason than the fact that it's easier for us "older folks" to manipulate and to load. You'll find a few videos on my channel that feature the 97. One of my only complaints is that it's a little "fumbly" to load, and mine is a .22 . If you're a little younger, I'd say it's more a matter of personal preference if you're just shooting out back.
I modify RC gas engines for a living (The Zenoah family of engines. 23cc to 34cc). But they are not usually used in RC planes because they are usually higher rpm engines than the props can spin. The stock engine with the stock exhaust can (not much power. 2.3 to 3.5hp. Cans are power robbers), peaks in power at 12,500 rpm. But modified engines (up to 7hp) can peak hp at about 16,000 rpm. If you might want to try a smaller diameter prop to gain more RPM, (not sure if that would work), I would love to see if you can make my builds work. Optisan CP 3-12×32 or Hawke compact 3-12×40 but both are pricey. The Airmax 2-7×42, 3-9×40 are good alternatives. 🤔 On the cheap... Hawke 2-7×32 AO IR is a Bargain ! 😉👍
Short scopes with 32mm objectives just don't suffer parallax issues and allow you to mount low over bore for minimal scope cant. With practice anything under 60 yards, you pretty much own it. Allot of guys create their own misery and multiply their errors with Big Ole Honkin scopes ! 🤷🏼♂️
@@hillbillysportsman5818A .22 HW95k is in my opinion "The" perfect all around hunting Springer. This makes it kinda critical to pick a Scope that's it's equal ??? 🤔 In my opinion clicking and ranging are superfluous for hunting. When guys put high mag. Scopes on a hunting rifle, they are building error into their rig. 2-7's and 3-9's have always been the Gold Standard for hunting in the field based on hard nuts results over the years. For the HW95 if you have to spend equal to the cost of the Rifle... well it likely deserves it. If you manage to find a decent scope for less, you got lucky ! 😉 From a completely analytical point of view, optimally you want a scope with a 32mm objective, a 30mm tube, at appx. 10" length. That's just simple math to minimize Parallax, and scope cant, but a True Springer rated scope will always cost you money. Both the Airmax AMX, and Optisan MH10 reticles are relatively uncluttered and allow you to easily scale, and visualize your holdover, and hold off points without d!cking around with your scope ! 😉 Both scope lines have good glass, but the Optisan is a little nicer, and also has the edge on size and weight. 🤷🏼♂️

My HW50 .22 is from 1974. I think this is the only working item I have that is 50+ years old I'm looking for a fun airgun for paper targets that makes less noise. probably a HW30
I'm not at all surprised to hear this, Rob. The old "buy once, cry once" adage has never been so perfectly illustrated. I think that you'll find the 30s to be one of the most enjoyable rifles that you'll ever own. I predict that you'll experience a fair degree of difficulty putting it down. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Dont think so...If you like springers...it is not uncommon that if you have many, you will have many Weihrauchs. I have many springers and 30% of them are from Weihrauch. The only brands that are equal to Weihrauch springers are AirArms and Walther. I dont like Webleys...
Hi Tony. Sounds like you're new to the channel. I focus mainly on piston guns. I leave the PCPs to the other RUclips guys. There's plenty of places to go to see PCPs featured. You'll see one once in a while here, but mostly, I do springers as that's where my interests are. I'm not sponsored by anyone. I buy all of the guns that you'll see on the channel. Thanks for watching, my friend.
@@razor1962 Thanks for your detailed reply, it's much appreciated. Yes I'm new and enjoyed your video, I was just a bit surprised that all three guns were of the same make. Especially for us none USA viewers it would have been nice to know what they cost. By the way I also like springers.
Hi Koenraad. It's good to hear from you. For some folks, choosing the one gun that they would keep is an easy choice. I'm glad that you are happy with yours. Thanks as always, my friend.
I've heard so many variations of the pronunciation that I gave up trying to decide who's right. Some very well-informed folks told me to pronounce it as Vi rough, but still another says Vi rock. Some say Why rouch or Why rock.... I'm no expert, don't know whether you are. I've settled into the habit of saying Vi rough until I speak with a fluent German, I'm sticking with it. No offense, my friend. I just don't know who to believe at this point. 🤣
Hi Reg. I'm excited for you. The 97 is a fantastic rifle. You won't be disappointed.
Thanks as always, my friend.
So far my one and only air rifle is an HW30S in 177. Good to know it was the right choice 👍 Thank you sir for your informative content!
Thanks very much, my friend and good choice on that 30S.
I have all three and couldn't agree more. HW makes the best springers.
Indeed. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Great answer lol 😆👍. If I could only have one for hunting purposes, it would be the my HW95 Luxus 22.
Awesome rifle and a great choice. Thanks as always, my friend.
I'm inclined to enthusiastically agree, Chuck 😃 But honestly I take 3 times more game with my HW50S... 🤷🏼♂️
@@marcmyers1465I'm on the hunt for a HW50s for Christmas 🎁🎄😆👍.
Think I would like a HW50s 177👍.
For short close range ground clearing a .22 HW50S with a 2-7 Airmax scope is hard to beat, but at 40 to 50 yards you really want to consider the HW50S in .177 with an Airmax 3-9 and just go with heavier pellets.
Now, mind you I would NOT turn my nose up to a .22
HW95K Field Pro with the (True Carbine) threaded barrel, and an Optisan CP
3-12×32 w/ BKL 388 adjustable C- mount... ☺️
That would be a tough choice to make. If I could only keep one I might keep my HW77K.
Another great choice.
For me, the perfect Airgun is also the HW50s and directly followed by the HW35E. Both are great, very accurate, and reliable guns. The 50s is so lightweight and the 35E looks so awesome.
Can't argue with that ,my friend. Great choices.
Yes, I’m with you. Although my PCP is very accurate and consistent. For the sheer pleasure of shooting, I would keep my HW 97KT. 👍
Thanks, Steve. The 97s are awesome.
Three excellent air rifles! I have only one of those, the HW50S, and it is hands down my keeper. The 97K is on my bucket list.
Yes. The 50S is a keeper for sure. I hope you can see your way to a 97K one day soon. You'll treasure it, I'm certain.
Dear Kevin
Thank you for your video. I agree the HW 30 is a lot of fun to shoot... I have managed to collect four of them over the years...say no more!
Kind regards.
Thanks, Tony. That 30 is a wonderful gun.
Hi Kevin, What a great choice. I have a 97,77,80,35E and 35. Beautiful quality and engineering. Always a pleasure to pick any of them up to shoot. Hate to have to choose between them. Keep filming. David U.K.
Nice Mate 👍👌
Thanks so much. You've got some terrific rifles, my friend. Enjoy!
I bought HW30s just a week ago, Sir, partially thanks to your recommendations. And yes, I just love it. God bless!
Everyone loves an HW30! I'm thrilled to hear that you're happy with your new air rifle. That trigger is gonna spoil you. 😉
I know what you mean, I have the same 3 guns. They are really good...but I would probably also consider TX200 and HW35E in the top. When shooting my HW35 and HW35E it is pure Joy...the smooth cocking and soundless closing ...adds to the superb quality feel of Weihrauch.
Always the HW35E mate if you already own a HW97. The 35 is the hunting springer i pick. Quiet cocking and you have the sling mounts.
I can't argue with your logic, Tom. Both are incredible rifles
I'm with you! In almost all my wftf piston competitions, I use my hw97s . Pretty much, a top choice IMHO. The only thing that the tx200 has on the hw's is the ease of breaking down and reassemble time,, really that's it!
Yes, sir. The 97 is the one to beat.
That's about it... 2 minutes. 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks, Sean, and thanks for watching, my friend
I just bought the R7 .. I'm thinking of TX 200 but I had the HW 97 blue , you right HW97 is stupid accuracy 😂😂.. I had that for 6 yrs.. still a dime ten shot at 30 yards.. Your stock look better .. I like it Sir..
Thanks so much for watching, my friend.
Good choices, Kevin! Can't argue with quality. There is no way gun enthusiasts can pick just one gun for everything! ScottinPa.
Agreed, Scott. There's no one gun that does it all.
Bring it. :)

Just remember one thing, Doug. A Rolls Royce won't go as fast as a Mustang, but it's still a Rolls Royce.
Thanks for watching, my friend.
My HW 30 made in 1967 is doing fine ,,,,,,,greets from Germany 😊
Not surprised to hear that, Joe. I'm sure that it'll be around for another 55 years. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Thanks very much, my friend, and thanks for watching.
If I were to have an air rifle, it would be my webley tracker 22. It weighs little, is flexible, has the power and precision you need and a beautiful walnut stock, what more could you ask for.
Excellent choice, my friend.
I can't argue with that logic, Carlos. Thanks as always, my friend.
You just wait till your Glasses get a little thicker and your Fingers get a lot dumber... You are absolutely gonna LOVE .22 pellets ! 😂
My Feinwerkbau 300s Running Boar would be my #1 keeper. Following that, the Beeman R11 and Beeman R9 limited Edition in that order.
Great guns, David. Good choices, my friend.
Great video! The HW30 caught my attention around a month ago and that brought me here. Subscribed 😃

Great choices for springers. I have an R7 and am also fond of Sheridan pump rifles and the Crosman Mark 1 CO2 pistol..
All solid choices, my friend. Thanks for watching.
Thanks, Paul, and thanks for watching, my friend.
Hw97 for target, Hw80 (beeman R1 in USA I think) for timeless traditional power. The 35 is very close though.. for pleasure plinking fun.. the cheapest Chinese break barrel tuned for smoothness and no twang! Also a crown polish helps :)
Why the cheap Chinese gun? Just curious.

I almost asked this question on another of your videos. I have a 97 and 95 in.177 and they are amazing to shoot. I also have a hw 80 in .22 which also shoots well, but not quite as well. Really like your channel.
Thanks, Brian. So happy to hear that you're enjoying the channel.

Another good choice, Tom.
That's like having to choose your favorite child. Each one has it's particular niche and does it very well. It seems the marketing of othe manufacturers puts too much emphasis on high velocity but what counts is accuracy. This is why some overlook the HW50s
Well, I can consistently hit an 11-12mm kill zone with my .22 HW50S... soo how much power do I need exactly ? 😏
FTR... I'm goin with the boy, he's funny as hell and I've never had a better fishin buddy in 63 years ! 😉👍
Speed is overrated. That's what airguns are supposed to prove. Somewhere along the line, the "More Is Better" mentality infected the sport. The 50S does everything that a field gun should do, and it does it well.

Robert Law went to a great deal of trouble laying it all out for folks back before The Great Magnum War.
Sold, then rebought my old 22 HW77..... I'm just so accurate with it.

Still waiting for a 77 to come my way. Such an iconic rifle.
enjoy your videos . classic question and it depends.

Good choices for sure, been english tho I may have a bias and the rifle I would never let go is my 22mm tuned air arms pro spot in .177.

@@razor1962 if you have to chose between 50S and 95 what would be your pick and why? I cant decide which one to get.
All terrific rifles in their own ways. I'd find it hard to part with any of them myself.
As far as the stainless look is concerned, to be truthful, I prefer blued steel. However, I can perfectly understand someone else preferring the nickle plated version.
I have a custom stocked HW50S in nickle. It really makes for an attractive rifle.
For me,it would be my TX-200… or my R7. I’ve owned the TX for 25 years, and the R7 for around 40.
Can't go wrong either way, Mike. Both are terrific guns.
I'd only keep the TX200

Hey Kevin,
Thanks again for a great video.

Hey Kevin, Thanks again for your prompt reply. I will look into those scope models.
It's always a real pleasure watching your videos.
Stay Safe. Be Well. GOD BLESS.
Instead of the HW50, I would choose the HW95. I has the power of the 97K with weight just a tad more than the 50S
Another great option. Thanks, Paul.
I have all three of them, and I couldn't agree more that they are wonderful. but personally, I would prefer AATX200HC over the HW97K. My TX200HC is more accurate than HW97k don't know why.
I gave some serious thought to the TX200, but in my hands, the 97 is more accurate.
TX and the Prosport from Airarms are superb.
AA TX200HC for me, or an TX200SR, the SR’s were something else.
Great choice!👍
Yep, my HW97 would be the gun I keep over all others
Great choice.
The accuracy is all there you just have to be honest with yourself about your most common or desired range, and naturally your own abilities, but most folks might be shocked to learn just how EASY it is for them to shoot a properly fitted and sorted rifle with the correct optic ! 😉
Weihrauch never would have built all of these rifles if the HW97K was perfect for everyone. Put 250 rounds through an HW97 in one session and she becomes a Brutal mistress ! 😖
What kind of bell do you have out there?
Hello again. For those who haven't seen the bell shown in some my other videos, it's a 14" diameter, used up, diamond abrasive, demolition saw blade. It makes a great gong.
Thanks for watching, my friend.
The one I would keep is my FWB300S
Great choice.
I had to pick one long time ago and it was AA Prosport for me. It fit all the bills except one. It is beautiful, accurate, powerful but little heavy.
I'd have to agree 100%, my friend.
I would havecto keep my mk1 bsa meteor in pristine condition, itsa meteor that got me into airguns and I've been addicted since 😉
Those Meteors were wonderful rifles. I still have my first air rifle, too.
It's a Sheridan Blue Streak pump pneumatic that my father bought for me 49 years ago, and it still works perfectly. I understand exactly why you won't part with your Meteor.
Thanks for watching, my friend.
In the UK we have the 99s which is the 50 s in a different take , the 99s is as accurate as a pcp which is out standing ,
Fantastic rifles. Thanks for watching Ian.
Sandwell Field Sports Imp ! 😈 ...😃👍
Many of our U.K. subscribers will lament your local power restrictions, but the fact is You Blokes have gotten So Very Good at Tuning, Working, and Shooting within those parameters that it's Absolutely Amazing the things that you can actually do within those parameters on a daily basis ! 😲
Just setting the rifle up at the prescribed levels you have become so adept at tuning, scoping, and competing "Specifically" and even detuning to arrive at Optimum firing Characteristics & Accuracy you've created a Bloody Art Form out of the HW50S... 😳 It is Seriously Impressive ! 👏... Well Done !!! 😃👍
I know you've done the same for multiple formats over the years, but by comparison many shooters over here in the states can barely tell you from day to day what their rifles output actually is ? 🤷🏼♂️ Many don't even Own a Chrony or have any intended level of performance other than Max. FAC... 🤦🏼♂️ They may want Accuracy or Hunting results but in the absence of that intimate understanding of their own rifle they honestly don't have a clue how to get their. 😏
The best most can hope for is to purchase an off the shelf kit, install it and hope for the best! 🙏
WELL ?... That's not actually tuning, Mate. 😊
The U.K. may have legislated, and regulated limitations, but you lot a made the Very Best out of the situation.
I am Consistently Impressed by our U.K. and Euro subscribers... 👏👏👏
Beautiful rifles!! 😎
Thanks very much.
Never had a weihrauch what yall think about the HW80 long range hunter ?
Heavy, accurate, and very powerful. Insanely good trigger and solid German craftsmanship. If you don't mind lugging around better than 10 lbs, it's probably closer to 12 lbs with a scope installed. it's a hammer. Recommend it in .22 cal.
Walther lgv competition ultra ❤❤❤
Another great choice!
thinking on which one to buy... is there a reason hw35 is not in those three? i wound compare it maybe to hw50 (money wise), how would you compare those two?
The HW35 is in a class of its own. It's a time-tested and mostly unchanged design for somewhere around seventy years.
There's a really good reason for that.
I would never steer someone away from a 35. Especially if it's a 35E. 😉
Those were my choices in the video. That's all. If you're leaning towards a 35, I can assure you that you won't be disappointed.
Hi Kevin,I agree with you,I own all three air Rifles, all weihrauch Rifles are my favourite even there air pistols. What's your favourite air pistol?maybe do a favourite pistol video
Hi Stephen. While I don't shoot pistols as much, I really like my P1 magnum ( HW45 ). It's a fantastic pistol.
Hi, great video :) do you think the HW 50S is good for hunting squirells even in 4,5 mm caliber or should i pick the 5,5mm? Thanks
Hello, and thanks for watching.
The 50s will be plenty for squirrels in either caliber. I have one in .177 and one in .22 Both are up to the task.
Thanks again, my friend.
@@razor1962 Thank you, and your .177 is in 16 Joule? I also considering HW57 since weight is roughly the same. Do you have any experience with It?
@oberynmartell5429 My .177 50s has a "soft kit" installed. It's only producing 11.8 joules.
The standard velocity generates considerably more energy. My .22 50s has a "high output" kit installed and it's making 18.3 joules.
@@razor1962 ok, thanks and do you have any experience with HW57 or can you compare it to HW 50S? Thank you so much
@oberynmartell5429 I've no direct experience with the 57. I do have a friend who's also a piston gun enthusiast who has one. He claims that it's slightly less accurate than his other HW rifles. Probably due to the loading system, which necessitates the pellet having to make the jump from the port to the rifling.
Doesn't surprise my that you went all German, they do make the best rifles, maybe the best of most things 😂
I understand about the rifle not falling into place the same every time..... Just picked up a mid 1970s Anschutz 54 match, I'm making a new square edged cheek piece to match my modern target rifle.... The original rounded cheek piece, I can never get my view through the diopter the same when I go back to the gun.
Thanks, Mick. Congratulations on the Anschutz. Awesome find.
@@razor1962 it's a beauty for a great price.
I have the tx200 hc with same scope. I want to do this to my gun. Where you get the kit from?
I used a quality kit from :
www.airrifleheadquarters.com/page/page/251327.htm
Great products. You won't be disappointed.
Thanks for watching.
thanks ,if anyone knows what's best, is you, very interesting
Thanks, Malcolm. Don't give me too much credit. There's plenty of folks who could teach me a thing or two. Thanks for the ego boost, though, and thanks for watching too.
I have a Hw35k, perfect rifle 😊
Awesome gun, Mark. She's a keeper.
Quite Possibly "THE" Perfect rifle for well over half a Century ! Hard to believe they could perfect the format but in the end they Did ! 😮
@@razor1962 have you done a review on one ?
@@marklawrence855 I've done a brief one on my 35E.
ruclips.net/video/CE8NA0pqjMU/видео.html
Hi. Great video. I have the HW95K and I am extremely happy with it. Great looking rifle and beautifully made. Take care and keep producing these great videos.
Do you have a vortek kit in your hw97k?
Yes. It really smooths out the shot cycle and keeps it very quiet.
Doug @ ESP from Michigan, sold at Daves Discount Motors (DDM).
Pcp Airforce talon p. 25/ springer Diana 460.177 cal
Both solid choices. Thanks for watching.
What power an brand scope would you recommend for a hw95 to hunt with?
Hawke Airmax 3-9 X 40 would be my first choice.
Optisan CP 3-12×32 or Hawke compact 3-12×40 but both are pricey.
The Airmax 2-7×42, 3-9×40 are good alternatives. 🤔
On the cheap...
@@marcmyers1465 thanks!
@@hillbillysportsman5818A
.22 HW95k is in my opinion "The" perfect all around hunting Springer. This makes it kinda critical to pick a Scope that's it's equal ??? 🤔
In my opinion clicking and ranging are superfluous for hunting.
From a completely analytical point of view, optimally you want a scope with a 32mm objective, a 30mm tube, at appx. 😉
Both scope lines have good glass, but the Optisan is a little nicer, and also has the edge on size and weight. 🤷🏼♂️
I'm honestly surprised you don't see more BSA Lightning XL owners these days. The HW99 seems to have really taken hold of that niche ? 🤔 There is just nothing more British than a Handy Carbine. 😌 I Miss BSA... 😕
I've got a BSA carbine. I was told that it's called a Supersport Magnum Carbine, but I have been unable to find any info on it. It doesn't look at all like a Supersport.
It's a delightful rifle, however. I'd love some more info on it.

I'm not at all surprised to hear this, Rob. The old "buy once, cry once" adage has never been so perfectly illustrated.

It sounds like an advertisement for one make of gun, are HW sponsoring you? Was a bit surprised that they were all springers and no pops.
Dont think so...If you like springers...it is not uncommon that if you have many, you will have many Weihrauchs.
I have many springers and 30% of them are from Weihrauch. The only brands that are equal to Weihrauch springers are AirArms and Walther. I dont like Webleys...
It still seems like an advertisement to me. If it isn't then it's a very biased video. There are plenty of other great airgun makers.
Hi Tony. Sounds like you're new to the channel. I focus mainly on piston guns. I leave the PCPs to the other RUclips guys. There's plenty of places to go to see PCPs featured. You'll see one once in a while here, but mostly, I do springers as that's where my interests are.

I'll be 62 this month.
Its pronounced VI Rark
I've heard so many variations of the pronunciation that I gave up trying to decide who's right. Some very well-informed folks told me to pronounce it as Vi rough, but still another says Vi rock. Some say Why rouch or Why rock.... I'm no expert, don't know whether you are. I've settled into the habit of saying Vi rough until I speak with a fluent German, I'm sticking with it.
