- Franky is often considered to be the least popular Straw Hat, but why is that? In this video, I aim to find out why the lovable cyborg doesn't get as much admiration as his crewmates!

General Franky should have been introduced in Wano. Funnily enough, in an arc where Wano is first mentioned (Thriller Bark) is also the arc where we are introduced about the "docking". Which is of course the precursor to General Franky

in my opinion franky is the coolest straw hat, brook is a close second

The thing with Franky is that he has so many intriguing concepts, a fantastic backstory and a completed arc at his joining point (like most Strawhats), but that's pretty much it. Your idea of him discovering a new island's tech and implementing it into his projects was great. I love the Franky Shogun's design, but it always comes out of nowhere - a scene with him polishing, rebuilding it or doing *something* with it would be fantastic.
His personality was really strong back at Water 7, but we don't really see it besides him being an older brother figure for the group. Where's the Franky that was a gang leader? Is there no interaction with the crew that brings out this side of him?
Egghead was be the perfect opportunity to re-examine the 'creator-creation' relationship, and Oda should've done much more with Vegapunk and Franky - it would be interesting if Vegapunk knew Tom, if at least to estabilish some connection between him and Franky and allow their relationship to flourish more, discuss about creating, etc (tho this is just me writing fanfic at this point).
He's one of the biggest victims of Oda wanting to finish OP quickly, in my eyes. If the series had as much space to breathe as it had before Wano, Franky would've been much more fleshed out in Egghead, I feel.
it's so weird to think of a series that has 1100+ chapters as needing "more space to breathe" but you're right. I wish we had more time. The ending, as strange as it is to say, is feeling rushed.

I'm absolutely amazed how insightful your analyses are and even tho I don't agree with every single point, I adore how much you make me think new things in this series!
•Luffy is the protag with too many moments and reasons to like him to count
•Zoro is the edgy swordsman protag stuck in a cartoony anime who still gets great fights
•Usopp is the everyman, the comedian, and gets copious screen time. From fighting Luffy, Sogeking shooting the WG’a flag, to the Dressrosa snipe, to even saving the Thousand Sunny on Egghead with his pop-greens.
•Sanji’s personality might be annoying to some people but when it comes down to being the left wing of the FPK he’s shown numerous times he’s resourceful, intelligent, and a fierce combatant both in speed but power and precision. Plus he has multiple solo-outings pre timeskip as “Mr.Prince”, he broke onto the Sea Train, WCI was ALL Sanji moments plus Wano gave him love.
•Nami is Nami. Her personality is amazing, she’s hot, and she controls lightning. Plus with her earlier climatact she had some really fun early fights (she used to win 1v1s against Baroque Works and CP9 agents)
•Chopper is adorable, can shapeshift, has MONSTER POINT, and has had multiple showings of both his combat AND medical skills both of which have been clutch many times.
•Robin is hot, has one of the best recruitment arcs, development arcs, and her abilities are both critically important for the goal of the Strawhats but also very effective when applied to combat.
•Brook’s powers really carry his usefulness and appeal… but he also shined throughout WCI. He’s also got a fun personality to watch/read.
•Jinbe has been a homie to Luffy since the day they met. Ace literally hyped this crackhead up to Jinbe and when the 2 finally meet Jinbe’s just like “I love this lunatic’s vibe”. He’s the one to get through to Luffy post Marineford, he stood up to Big Mom, he bodied Who’s Who, helped put out the fire in Onigashima, and already proving his worth as helmsmen when they left WCI and approached Egghead.
Franky 1v1’s Senior Pink but aside from it being the most manly fight in the series it’s mostly remembered bc of Senior Pink and Franky’s respect during the fight. He jumps into the Shogun on Fishman Island but that’s a display… and then he gets a better but somehow (IMO) more forgettable fight against the triceratops Tobi Roppo that’s interrupted by Big Mom. There’s also the fact that his different appearances pre/post time-skip is a very divisive choice. Franky fans were starving and praying Egghead would be his arc but alas he gets few panels and little screen time.
What Jinbe did in WCI was pure magic. And he didn’t even know the full capabilities of the Sunny at the start. He learned as he was getting them all out of a very bad situation.

Franky didn''t share an ark with robin, water 7 and enies lobby are not the same. even though the government story between them is connected.
but i do care less about him than the others, post time skip skip he also hasn't really been relevant in terms of his role on the ship either. since we haven't gotten upgrades or repairs.
i like to thjink the crew will get more love in the final arks when we are done introducing new characters and such.
Agree to disagree on water seven and enies lobby. I view them as one arc as the conflict with CP9, Robin and Usopp goes through both islands.
Franky has a lot of focus but he isn't at the center of the conflict ('save Robin') like most other Straw Hats are when they join the crew.
