I'm so sorry that she died. She was such a beautiful spider, too. I just found the vid when you put her in the enclosure and she was so charismatic! Sad to see her go.
that's a shame, she is a really beautiful spider, probably my favorite species. I'm glad you ended up getting another orb weaver because they're awesome! But still is sad that this one passed. On a more brighter note, awesome videos man, really love em !
Sorry she died. That must have been difficult. It's clear that you care a lot about your spiders. She was very interesting to watch in the other videos. I thought she would be creepy, but she charmed me! A beautiful creature.
I have aracnophobia but still ist sad to see this :( you know even if im terrifyed of Spiders she is still an living beeing to me and to see this hits my Feelings... R.I.P ;(
I'm not particularly terrified of spiders but i once was, and it's an 'unsettling respect' at best if i describe it now yet i still have a huge fascination in them. Will owning one continue to dispense fear? If so I'd love to give it a shot since i truly and interested in them but fearless is still not what I'd call it xD
do you even know what having a f#cking phobia is? you wouldn't even be able to handle this at pictures you would be sweating and unable to move. Phobias have to be treated by specialists, you just scared of arachnids and come like a brave soldier to RUclips comments -.-
Spiders scare the ever-loving hell out of me, but I'm truly sorry for your loss. I know this was a little over two years ago, but just the same...It sucks to lose a pet you care about.
As others have already said, I wouldn't really recommend trying to keep a Nephila (or Argiope or Aranidae, etc) unless you have space and time to keep breeding them year on year. Most perpendicular web-weaving spiders, even in the tropics, don't last much longer than a year so this probably just died of "old" age. It's a shame really as they are absolute beauts and I'm not sure I could nurture one through to seeing it die at the end of every year. And obviously, in your case, yours arrived at pretty much its biggest size so I doubt it would have needed a further moult. Getting hold of a spiderling or two could be interesting I suppose... and I think that your home for it may be more adequate for when they are smaller anyway. I saw a N. clavipes in Peru that was even smaller than this one but had built a web in the eaves of a hut that spanned several metres! Your first idea of leaving it to a quiet corner of your room's ceiling may have resulted in a super cool web though so it's a shame your partner was against it!
The only time I felt badly about a spider dying was when Charlotte of Charlotte's Web died. This is the second and probably the last time I will. Sorry. Not crazy about spiders.
Sorry to see the bad news mate :-( Do u think she needed more room to make her web? Been orb weavers need LOADS or room to make a web like 3 or 4 foot across. I was considering getting a large hula hoop and hang it from my celling in my room :-)
Sorry for your loss Daniel. She was a beautiful specimen. I have one of these huge spiders just within arms reach on a mango tree in our backyard. It has a black and yellow spotted pattern on its abdomen. I feed it roaches from time-to-time, since i have a colony for my Ts. Anyway, consider a larger enclosure if you plan to keep one again? These guys can be massive, not to mention their webbing. Appreciate your work! keep those videos coming!
Spiders aren't really my things, but this one really was quite pretty. I just watched the video of you putting her in her new enclosure and then I found this, and it makes me sad. I know they don't usually live very long, but the loss of a pet is still the loss of a pet. **hugs** I'm so sorry for your loss, hun. (>-_-)>
Aww, such a shame. I'm sorry for your loss of such a beautiful pet. She's an angel-spider now, which hopefully a spider-heaven exists. Or even incarnation, she could be a human in her next life, who really knows? But you seemed to really love her and took great care of her. I'm sure she's grateful to have you give her the best life she could ever have. Rest in peace, little one.
D: This was my favorite one of your spiders. It made me sad when I read the title. She doesn't look as good as she did when you first got her. It would be awesome if you got another one.
Damn was new to this channel and just watched the first vid and didn't know it was your pet. Sorry for your loss man. RIP to your pet and hope you got a new spider.
im actually really sad about this i know it's been almost a year since this video but just wanna say im really sorry for your loss of this beautiful spider
I live in southeast Louisiana and have many of these spiders. They don't make it past November or December if it gets cold enough. They get as big as yours but I've never seen them make it through winter. I saw something crawling around the bottom of the cage at the beginning of this video. I couldn't see it well enough to identify what it was. Maybe something got to it.
watching this while watching my jumping spider aside..... my boy garry. Ive had him for 8 months now and I know im way more than halfway to this point. Ill feed him, observe and handle him a bit before going to bed.. gotta cherish every moments.
rip lovely spider hope you get another one im sorry for your loss she was sooo lovely i got the vid when you first rehomed her its on my playlist SPIDERS
Sad to see her all floppy like that. As spiders go, I think the orb weavers are quite nice. Huntsman spiders on the other hand.... Just catching a glimpse of the 'huntsman molt and feeding' thumbnail in the sidebar is freaking me out.
i had one when i was a kid never handled it like you but i fed it lizards from my yard it got huge unforgettably someone ran into its web in my room and wound up killing it
I'm trying to cure my arachnophobia by watching a ton of spider videos, trying to learn about them and get more comfortable with them. When she was lying on the table and you picked her leg up with your finger, I had the realization that she's just an animal like any other, who had a life and someone who cared for her. I know this is a super old video, but I'm sorry for your loss.
God this would make a great surprise screaming scary face video... Right when it's zoomed up on the spread out spider. People would throw their phones and tablets I'm sure...
I am not a fan of spiders but this was his pet and I feel sorry for him
I don't think they really live that long like a year and a half to 2 years max.
JOSHUA JERRY PHENEUF PLANET *for HER
patrik600ful he was correct as the owner of the pet is male.
Well this breaks my heart, I just watched the video where you brought her home and set her up in her little enclosure. :(
The sad part of owning pets :'(
Hahaha i just went through the same video process...
Mia Tekare me too
Mia Tekare I just did the same thing
Mia Tekare same here wtf
I'm so sorry that she died. She was such a beautiful spider, too. I just found the vid when you put her in the enclosure and she was so charismatic! Sad to see her go.
The biggest downside to having a pet is having to eventually say goodbye.
That's why I try not to get too many. : (
Yup. Sadly that's also why I won't get them since I do not cope with loss well at all. I mean my heart even sinks for this dude's spider.
Get a giant tortoise and you won't have to
Not if you light your house aflame with you all inside.. works with wives, too
heart broken can hear the sadness in your voice
dude, I'm so sorry
Nooooo just fineshed the unboxing vid to fined this :(

that's a shame, she is a really beautiful spider, probably my favorite species. I'm glad you ended up getting another orb weaver because they're awesome! But still is sad that this one passed. On a more brighter note, awesome videos man, really love em !

same here v.v
Omg. I feel sorry for you. How did it died? Died of hunger?
You gotta be careful where u get ur crickets and stuff from. They have parasites and pathogens sometimes that get into whatever eats them.
I have aracnophobia but still ist sad to see this :( you know even if im terrifyed of Spiders she is still an living beeing to me and to see this hits my Feelings... R.I.P ;(
I admire your bravery it takes some if you have arachnophobia and watch this.. You earned my respect

Strangely enough I am petrified of spiders, but I do love seeing them in these videos...was sad to see this :0(
IN THE ARMS OF AN ANGEL, FLY AWAY...
Kind of insensitive to push your religion on someone who may or may not share yours.
Cortster ....issa joke
Cortster Did you just assume their religion?
Synthia Synsation u beat me to it
THIS WAS A JOKE WHY DID IT MAKE ME EVEN SADDER
I'm sorry for your loss.

Thank so much for the insight. I learnt something new today.

Aww. because of you I really do admire the beauty if the Orb Weaver...such a beautiful girl...sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry..I just watched your rehousing video of her. She was so beautiful and I'm sure brought you so much joy.
You can see her abdomen appears shrunk compared to previous videos.

Sorry on your loss, Daniel. I do hope you'll get another one of these ladies. I really enjoyed your video of her. :)
Spiders aren't really my things, but this one really was quite pretty. I just watched the video of you putting her in her new enclosure and then I found this, and it makes me sad.
