Accidentally deleted the emulator section. I copied all the emulators back in. How can I relink them manually, without having to go through the entire process from the beginning?
No idea. I'd just re-flash the image in that case, probably easier to copy your games and save games and start fresh rather than try to mess around with getting the emulators to work again.
@@TechDweeb After a bit of reading up on the subject on a few subreddits, I think this might be the best idea. I still have all my save files and roms, so I'll just back those up and use them with a fresh reinstall of the firmware. I'm a bit jumpy because my Pokémon save is over 20 hours at this point.

Thank you for your kind words, TD. I did have a technical question as you seem to really know your stuff here. Is there a handheld system that is low in cost and ONLY runs NES carts - changeable with SD card - AND includes load/save state ability ?
Huh. A handheld system that ONLY runs NES games? Carts? Are you talking about ACTUAL nes game cartridges? I've never heard of such a thing and honestly I'm probably not the right guy to ask, but I LOVE the idea of that and I hope that it exists! EDIT: Apparently there is one called the Retro Champ. That's crazy!
@@TechDweeb Hi TD. No, the Retro Champ uses real cartridges. No fun there. I've got a little over 10,000 NES carts of every language I've downloaded over the years and wanted a way to have them on the go - so far the PowKiddy does the job for what I wanted which is the NES emulator and load/save state - and that's the main reason I bought it. As for folks complaining about the SNES not running so well on the PK. I did see the it runs Final Fantasy Mystic Quest quite well though, one of my fav SNES carts. A26/GB/GBC/GBA and the rest - except for PSX, they run without any issue though. As for movies, I haven't found one that doesn't desynchronize the audio - sadly. The RG350 though is a powerhouse for movies though of all kinds Mp4, MPG, MKV, WMV, and AVI with DiVX or XViD - they all run perfect.
Can i ask that my old sd card seems kinda slow to load game and i just buy a new sd card that better , can i just copy all the file and save to the new sd card or is there anymore step for me to do it tho ?
Hmmm. Not sure a new card will make it faster to load games, but getting a new high quality card is always a good idea. If you have data on your old card you can either re-flash the OS on your new card (like I show in this video) and then copy over your save files and games. Or you can 'image' your current card (using Win32DiskImager), and then write that image to the new card.
Noooo! Bad Tech Dweeb! You're holding the SD card by the shiny bits! I once did that when I had some grease on my fingers and my Pow Kitty card died ...otherwise; thank you, Tech Dweeb. My other Pow Kitty is now much better thanks to your... "content".
just one quick question. Once installed the custom firmware, do I need to install games into the SD card? Most of my files are empty after I installed it. If so, where can I install games into the SD card? The pre-installed games have gotten quite boring on the Miyoo custom firmware 1.3.3.
You will have to insert the SD card into your computer and then open the ROMs folder and copy your ROM files for each system into the appropriate folders.
Hi, awesome video ! I have a question please : do you know in which folder to put the scrapped images of the roms with this firmware? and in which dimension to do it? I already did it on my game library on my miyoo mini thanks to your other video, can I copy and paste my scrapped images folder to the powkiddy or do I have to start again because of the different size of the images? thanks and sorry for my bad English :)
As far as audiobooks go, some of us have super boring jobs and audiobooks make them tolerable. I'd definitely be reading books on paper at work if I could, but doing so would probably result in multiple deaths, including my own, since I drive for a living.
Oh I'm with ya. I joke in the vid but I've been an Audiobookable subscriber for years. At any given time I have an audiobook and a real book on the go (my real book is my bedtime reading).
@@TechDweeb Did some research basically it sounds like the partitions have to be next to each other? Which they are if they mean that the partition are actually next to each other in disk partition. I went to a different computer and I had the same issue. I am not sure why I am having this issue before anyone else I used the below method to make it work. Note this method has its risks including data corruption etc. The software seems legit because they also have a Wikipedia which is a good sign I think that software is on the up and up I had to use third-party software mini partition wizard to actually extend the unallocated volume. I used the free version which is enough to make this work luckily. Obviously make sure you don’t install the other software they try to sneak in during set up and also there is a risk of data corruption etc. with this method but it worked for me just fine!
So can you hide the systems you don't want to use in the menu on this firmware? For simplicity and all. I'm trying to set one up with only Nintendo systems and that's it.
Not as far as I can tell. And I would be surprised if development continued to be honest, I doubt there is much more performance that we can squeeze out of this thing. As far as the GBA scaling at least with this version we have the latest updated GPSP with lots of scaling options to choose from.
I can’t get the “main” file on the sd card. I just get “ boot h” and not “main h” I followed every step and nothing. What am I doing wrong. Please help. I formatted the card I did everything.
Can anyone create a step-by-step for installing the PS1 config library? People talk about it like it should be straightforward to install but I'm pretty lost.
1. Download the config library (retrogamecorps.files.wordpress.com/2021/03/v90-pcsx-cfg-lib-v1.1.zip) 2. Extract the archive to the root level of your microSD card 3. Make sure your game names exactly match the names of the conifgs in emus/pcsx_rearmed/.pcsx/cfg 4. Make sure you launch the PCSX-Rearmed emulator from the v90 menu (not the original PCSX emulator) *if you are using bin/cue files instead of PBP files, just be sure to change the name of the .cue file (NOT the .bin file) to the same file name as the ones found in the emus/pcsx_rearmed/.pcsx/cfg folder
@@TechDweeb Excellent, thanks! My microSD card has two partitions, one named "boot" and another named "main", which has several folders, including for roms. Which partition should I be extracting to?
hola, como estas intale el sistema miyoo en la powkiddy v90 pero me di cuenta que este sistema no reconoce los botones l2 r2, sabes como configurarlo??
L2 and R2 are not yet supported (on any firmware). Apparently the developers will be adding support in the next version but that might not be released for a long time :/
Yeah I don't see why not. Although if you don't copy your games etc over then you'll have a pretty empty device. You don't need the other stuff like the updated emulators and PS1 configs, those are optional.
Can you please please do me a small favor? Test Tomb Raider (the very first one or second one) PlayStation and let me know if this works. Or can anyone tell me? That’s the only reason I would update the custom firmware as I’m afraid to do this (not familiar with this type of stuff only adding games). It would mean the world to me if anyone could do that. Or at least tell me what runs well ps1 on original firmware or new firmware.
I just tested it, I couldn't get it working. Crashes after the main menu. Maybe there is a version of the game and a version of the emulator that works but my quick test says no. Most ps1 games do work well though fwiw.

Question: can you remove games from the system? Just to slim it down for a kid and remove some of the more violent ones. Thanks!
It's a great device for a kid. It's nice and rugged, the clamshell style means the screen won't get scratched up, and it's not too expensive so if she breaks it or whatever it's not the end of the world! You can definitely take off games. Just delete them from the ROMs directory on your PC.

Not sure what to suggest, the SD cards that come with these things are sometimes sketchy, it might be dead 😥
@@TechDweeb i figured it out mostly, i have the miyoo cfw, just don’t know how to move the games onto the new micro sd card
@@TechDweeb Update: I backed up my ROMs and save files, formatted the card, went through the installation process again, copied my ROMs and saves to the card, booted up my V90, and the save worked perfectly 😍
EDIT:
Apparently there is one called the Retro Champ.
Or you can 'image' your current card (using Win32DiskImager), and then write that image to the new card.
good review
does it come with mario originally on this console if so where
This doesn't come with games.
Thanks TechDweeb's mom for getting him the sweater.
I have problems with 2 games, Mario Golf and Mario Tennis for GBA. I can't play them because they crash when I start them, any suggestions?
Noooo! Bad Tech Dweeb! You're holding the SD card by the shiny bits! I once did that when I had some grease on my fingers and my Pow Kitty card died ...otherwise; thank you, Tech Dweeb. My other Pow Kitty is now much better thanks to your... "content".
Yikes! Good point!
What format would work for ps1 roms? I've tried CHD files but not working. I'm using the miyoo custom firmware
What an awesome video!
This is a brilliant channel
Thanks buddy
How do European ps1 games fare? They’re designed around 50fps
Definitely a good idea to stick to 50fps games where possible.
just one quick question.
Just wondering when you will do more pc videos
Most of the videos I have in the list of videos I want to make are PC videos, more coming very soon!
@@TechDweeb nice
do you need to download the new firmware for v90? mine gets here in a month but would be good if i can just play it how it is
You can totally play it as is right out of the box
Hi, awesome video ! I have a question please : do you know in which folder to put the scrapped images of the roms with this firmware? and in which dimension to do it? I already did it on my game library on my miyoo mini thanks to your other video, can I copy and paste my scrapped images folder to the powkiddy or do I have to start again because of the different size of the images? thanks and sorry for my bad English :)
I don't think you can have custom art with this firmware, unless I'm mistaken?
@@TechDweeb I was hoping this was the case, I seemed to have seen it on other videos but I must have been dreaming :( thanks !
I love audiobooks 😢
As far as audiobooks go, some of us have super boring jobs and audiobooks make them tolerable. I'd definitely be reading books on paper at work if I could, but doing so would probably result in multiple deaths, including my own, since I drive for a living.
Oh I'm with ya. I joke in the vid but I've been an Audiobookable subscriber for years. At any given time I have an audiobook and a real book on the go (my real book is my bedtime reading).
Is there a way to get all 4 sholder buttons to work with PSone games? It would help allot with Odd World and Tomb Raider.
I haven't found a way unfortunately.
Apparently it'll be supported in the next firmware release (1.3.4). So we just have to be patient for the update.
Anyone have the issue where "extend" is greyed out when right clicking on "main"
Not sure what you're referring to here?
@@TechDweeb Did some research basically it sounds like the partitions have to be next to each other? Which they are if they mean that the partition are actually next to each other in disk partition. I went to a different computer and I had the same issue. I am not sure why I am having this issue before anyone else I used the below method to make it work. Note this method has its risks including data corruption etc. The software seems legit because they also have a Wikipedia which is a good sign I think that software is on the up and up
I had to use third-party software mini partition wizard to actually extend the unallocated volume.
You can delete the consoles from a folder on the SD card.
any newer cfw?
1.3.3 gPSP had painfully smoll scaled display for GBA, it hurts my eyes >_
Not as far as I can tell. And I would be surprised if development continued to be honest, I doubt there is much more performance that we can squeeze out of this thing. As far as the GBA scaling at least with this version we have the latest updated GPSP with lots of scaling options to choose from.
I've been thinking of getting one for my father
It's great to buy for gifts because it's so affordable and user friendly!
Can you answer me? I just buyed one, but my question is that can it vibrate/rumble? thanks!
So sorry I'm confused does the custom firmware already have games on it when you download it?
I can’t get the “main” file on the sd card. I just get “ boot h” and not “main h” I followed every step and nothing. What am I doing wrong. Please help. I formatted the card I did everything.
can powkiddy v90 play castlevania?....thank you
Which one?
If you're asking about the PS1 version, I'd have to test to confirm but I know that it plays all of the 2D PS1 games with no problems at all.
@@TechDweeb SOTN
Anyone can explain me how to make work the 100 config files for the ps1 emulator . l doesn’t seem to work for me .
Hola, buen video, al hacer los mismos pasos, no me reconoce a mí donde están todas las carpetas room, y nosé dice que no está en uso
Can anyone create a step-by-step for installing the PS1 config library? People talk about it like it should be straightforward to install but I'm pretty lost.
1. Download the config library (retrogamecorps.files.wordpress.com/2021/03/v90-pcsx-cfg-lib-v1.1.zip)
2. Extract the archive to the root level of your microSD card
3. Make sure your game names exactly match the names of the conifgs in emus/pcsx_rearmed/.pcsx/cfg
4. Make sure you launch the PCSX-Rearmed emulator from the v90 menu (not the original PCSX emulator)
*if you are using bin/cue files instead of PBP files, just be sure to change the name of the .cue file (NOT the .bin file) to the same file name as the ones found in the emus/pcsx_rearmed/.pcsx/cfg folder
Apparently the developers will be adding support in the next version but that might not be released for a long time :/
@@TechDweeb gracias por responder
Is it possible to burn the custom firmware to the SD card and don't do anything else?
Yeah I don't see why not. Although if you don't copy your games etc over then you'll have a pretty empty device. You don't need the other stuff like the updated emulators and PS1 configs, those are optional.
The L2 and R2 button Doesn't work so how can you manage it?
Just found the black version of that sucker on Amazon for $25 shipped. Snatched it for GBA games for sure.
It's such a great deal considering how well it performs. This is the main handheld I recommend for most people who are just getting started.
Does the powkiddy play 'Castlevania SotN' on the PS1? I want to get one for a friend for her birthday and she loves that game.
Great video and guide! I think between this vid, your original on the v90, and Retro Game Corps' guide, you've convinced me to get get a Powkiddy v90 for daughter later this year. The miyoo firmware looks perfect for her to navigate compared to the original, and it can get her started with some NES and GBA classics to teach her how to game!
@@TechDweeb Perfect! Thanks for the quick and helpful reply -I'm loving the channel and so glad I subscribed
Will removing some ROMs also help with lag or is that purely a built in processor thing?

you sound like Abe from Abes oddysey, watch out for those pesky Glukkons!
Sounds like a cool well spoken dude :P
please test castlevania symphony of the night if you make the ps1 video
I just tried it on my V90 with the custom firmware. It was a little rough with frame drops here and there, so I set the frame skip to one and it runs around 60 fps most of the time. It's definitely playable and the sound is good.
@@gregmillhand9697 I appreciate the answer but in the end I decided to take an android telescopic controller, I kinda like it, it feels similar to when I had psp when I was a kid.
Maybe with some hardware tweak the data can be wired to the usb connector allowing to use an external controller
tbh it kinda sucks that it's 2022 and it can't run some SNES games properly, even if it's just $40
do you think the 64gb is worth it if I don't intend playing PS1 games?
great video!
Nah, 32gb is plenty for non ps1. I have 32 GB in most of my devices this size and it can hold all the 16-bit era games as well as a few ps1
Got mine for 12$. Waaaay worth it
"yeah man i wanna do it"
How do I get L2 and R2 buttons to work? Twisted Metal 2 runs smooth but I can't shoot
They aren't supported. Apparently there as supposed to be a new firmware from Miyoo that made them work (1.3.4), but it hasn't been released yet (and my guess is that it never will) :/
Can you still save your progress with the new firmware?
How to run heroes 2 pc version on miyoo software would be cool
I tried to install customer firmware but the sd card doesn't work properly. And has now ruined my console... does anyone sell the original sd cards or custom firmware cards working ?
Your console is still fine, it's just the SD card that's been ruined. You can use any SD card buy a new one from amazon, flash the firmware, copy your games, and you'll be good to go. Good luck!
its got a super amoled display though thats why it really pops
What shuld i buy powkiddy v90 or powkiddy x51
ik im late but dont buy anything from the powkiddy x series because they have very huge issues within them , powkiddy v90 is definitely better
Is there a way to access the SD card on your PC through the charging cable without removing the SD card from the device?
I have not found a way.
Hey tech dweeb! I love your videos! I was wondering if you can do a video on how you set up the ps1 at 60fps using the miyoo custom firmware, I tried doing it using the tutorial and got some games to work, but alot of the games listed to rub at 60fps didn't work at all:o or even if you can point me in the direction of another video that goes through it step by step, where to drop bios files, rom names matching the cfg names:)
Awesome video
Does the new firmware have a videoplayer?
First of all: CONGRATS FOR YOUR GREAT WORK! Have you ever tested ps1 soccer games? I loved them-especially ISS Pro Evolution- BUT i couldn't find someone who has tested any of them on the v90..Hope u will find time to do so and perhaps let me know if it is playable..Once again thank you
You know I never have. I'm not really a sports guy. But I probably should, I know soccer games are super popular.
