GETTING A CAST ON--IS MARISSA’S FOOT BROKEN?

Marissa hurt her foot playing soccer a few months ago. Originally we were told that is wasn't broken (even after having an x-ray done) but it hasn't healed and has caused her pain for months. So we went to see an orthopedic specialist who specializes in foot and ankle injuries. She reviewed Marissa's x-rays and decided it needed to be casted for 6 weeks. She has severe posterior tibial tendonitis, a deep bone bruise, and a possible fracture. They also discovered that she has an an accessory navicular bone (see below for more info). Our nurse was so nice and made the experience great for Marissa. I have no idea why, but Marissa was so excited to get a cast for the first time in her life. I think she will change her mind in a few days!
