  • Today on Legendary Trails we take our 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road on Mineral Creek Trail - the gateway to the Alpine Loop. As with most of the four wheel drive roads in the San Juan Mountains they were originally constructed for mining. The town of Mineral Point or Mineral City existed from 1873 to 1890s. Its main purpose was a midpoint/stopping point for prospectors heading to the town of Ouray.
    This trail features many rocky and steep sections in places. Stock vehicles can complete this trail as long as the appropriate time is given to each obstacle and you use proper tire placement and lots of patience. Pack extra patience for this trail. This trail is typically used as a quick way to get to different trails along the Alpine Loop or to reach the famous Poughkeepsie Gulch.
    There is no room to pass on several places along the trail. There are many narrow ledges that follow some beautiful scenery and several waterfalls.
    Did our Tacoma conquer the trail? Watch to find out!

    What an inspiration! Thank you so much for making such an awesome video. I have been saving and waiting for YEARS to buy a Tacoma. I was finally able to order the one I've always wanted without having to make any compromises, and it should be here today or tomorrow. I can hardly wait to get out there and explore. I have no intention of lifting the truck, and you definitely confirmed that decision with this video. The capabilities of these vehicles is just amazing. I also like how you make your adventures a family activity. I'm a fan of your channel, for sure! Keep up the good work, and stay safe out there.

    It’s crazy how much mineral creek has changed since I last ran it in 2012. Originally ran it in a modded FJ but I am running it in a stock 23 Tacoma off-road. Looks like it is doable. It looked like you went for some of the harder lines, is that correct?

    • @legendarytrails
      @legendarytrails  Год назад

      We were surprised by how much it changed when we took our f150 in 2013. Erosion has been pretty bad in some spots.
      Some of the lines we took were the harder, but most are the easier lines. The water fall crossing was the easier line at that time, but with all the runoff that might be different now. It's a fun trail and definitely doable in a stock tacoma. 😀

    Very nice presentation of a tough trail. You say at the beginning that it is one way, but at then end you talk about turning around and going the other way. Which is it? Thanks.

    • @legendarytrails
      @legendarytrails  Год назад

      It's both ways technically, but most people do it as a loop with either engineer pass or connect through animas forks.

    tire pressure down to even 25 psi would have made a big difference maybe even no tire spin

    • @legendarytrails
      @legendarytrails  2 года назад

      Probably, but we forgot our air compresser so we didn't air down as much as we would have liked. 25 or 20 would have been ideal.

  • @yep3172
    @yep3172 2 года назад +3

    Nice video. You should demonstrate all your Tacoma capabilities on a really tough spot. Try in 2 wheel first, then 4x4 high, the low, then multi terrain select on rock setting and then on the mud setting, then lock the rear and no multi, then rear locked and with multi.

      @@Slowenchiladas I'm not sure what the ATV laws are in Lake City/Hinsdale County. If they are street legal than yes you would be able to drive it from there. Each county/city in Colorado has different laws for UTV/ATV use on the roads. Some restrict just speed allowed, while others have a list a roads. You'll probably have to do some research or call Hinsdale county for the correct answer.

You are late to the brand and not helping I will take my 91 22r and demolish what you think you are doing or my 95 3rz-fe. Seeing people who are learning out is great but uour videos just keep stock tires and don't really test the vehicle. You actually show the reason for all the cheat or idiot crawl is in. But I haven't drove it and sand crawl out is a positive but I have limited sand.
