Same. I never would’ve heard about the game or this “fromsoft” if not for some smaller RUclipsrs bringing light to the game, such as Moist Critical and Jacksepticeye.
Hey, this was a pretty well written and edited video with some great jokes! I've sunk many hundreds of hours into every Souls/Bloodborne/Sekiro game (now including Elden Ring), and watching this got me to relive some of that magical first playthrough experience.
Holy shit the production on this video is absolutely fantastic! I can't believe this is your first video on this channel. Happy to be here for the ride!
The tree sentinel is the best boss in the game cause he's the only one that the game encouraged me to cheese, probably the only enemy I felt I actually self achieved
this video reminded me of why i loved elden ring so much, its got a lot of issues which you notice more the more you play it, but that first playthrough is almost perfect
You are a really good editor and entertainer. Deserve way more subs. Elden Ring was one of the best games I have ever played. Wish I could forget it all and do it again. Cannot wait for the DLC
4:20 (heh) THANK YOU for pointing out this massive flaw in RDR2. The introduction gives you NO time to breathe. I came to enjoy the game, but it was after a lot of frustration at the start.
Im 2 minutes in and already loving this video, i never thought id be listening to someone play elden ring whilst listening to the animal crossing soundtrack but here we are and I'm loving it!
Now this is what the algorithm is for, showing you small accounts that honestly deserve way more viewers and subs than they have Good luck in the future
Elden Ring is just a perfect starting point, customizable controls, full freedom of where to go and how to go about it, and a much more streamlined stat system makes it much easier to get into the other games, I’m playing through DS3 and am loving it and all the differences between it and ER.
Very great perspective! As someone who has played a lot of souls games I think I take a lot of the amazing things about this game for granted. Seeing a newcomer give their perspective really makes me appreciate the game more.
NFL 2k1 was the template of pretty much every modern NFL sim for the last 22 years, idk if that reflects that good on the game or how little innovation happens in sports games.
I've had to pause this video halfway through to write this comment so I don't forget...This video is so engaging. Great editing, and you know not to overstay your welcome in each section. I really feel like if you keep making videos of this standard your channel will just keep growing. I've subbed because I really want to see what else is coming.
Your point about going back to the overly guided cinematic intros is so spot on, that’s what actually stops me from restarting any Ubisoft game, I want to just run around a few castles or outposts in far cry / assassins creed but I don’t to spend the 25 hours getting my character to where it has all its basic skills and mechanics that make the game fun. I restart Soulsborne and Soulslike games all the time because they just let you play like it was before we had the technology to produce the cinematic intro sequences. I still like a good cinematic game from time to time but I think the “pick up and play” aspect of souls games is part of what makes people want to try all of them after their first
looking at the comments I'm definitely not the only one who thought you'd have more subscribers and videos, I've had fun watching it and I hope your next videos are as good as this one!
I love your sense of humour and that Red Dead 2 reference was relatable af. On another note: As a small channel content creator myself, I can learn something from your editing. I always want to get better, snapier and your videos give me a good sense of where to start. Your editing simple, but still what I am looking for. If you keep going, you have a bright future ahead of you. Remember me, if you get famous.
You said everything we felt this entire time spot on! I was floored and while it had its flaws it’s just a incredible feat. Such a outstanding game! It broke me!
This is so wonderful, thank you! I'd never played a Fromsoft game at the beginning of this year, and then my friend bought me Elden Ring; and you're right, it's hard to return to another game! I'm on NG+8 now, and have 100% the Achieves, as well as collected everything there is to collect, and STILL I log in happy and excited to be playing this amazing Game!
Dodge timing was different in elden ring compared to ds 3... I to did fight tree sentinel at level 1. For the crucible knights, learn to parry. Especially swordy boi is easy to parry, and it just makes them feel like peasants.
I was like: "wow this must be a really popular creator, such a nice story telling". i've scrolled down and... you have 240 subscribers, what the actual fuck? you're a beast. Nice video. Especially because I had a similar path, casual gamer that tried Elden Ring two weeks ago and have just finished it.
The thing is, the spirit summons are supposed to be a fairly central part of the game. So the fact that you weren't using them the whole time essentially meant you were getting better at combat at a faster rate. The downside to this of course, is that as you noticed, the end game content becomes so unforgiving in certain places you need to be almost perfect in your executions (depending on build of course) or you'll get wiped out and have to try again. Now the mimic tear is a top tier summon for sure, but there are other great summons that are very powerful on their own that you could have been using before that, so if you went from basically no summons straight to mimic tear, it's no wonder that you found everything suddenly much easier. Realistically speaking, this is the point where you hit the difficulty curve that can't be reduced much by bigger stats or better gear. You're already reaching the peak of that, and only pure skill can elevate you further. That's how you end up with people beating the game without leveling up.
It's not so much that the late game has a difficulty spike. It's more so that the player only has so many options for getting stronger. Eventually, your weapon will reach maximum upgrade, and while it's unlikely any casual player will ever reach max stat level, diminishing returns kick in long before that. It's very easy to get overpowered in the early to mid-game, but by late game the player plateaus while the enemies keep scaling up and there is no other way to compensate except to "git gud" ...well, that or just embrace cheese strategy, and if the cheese makes things seem too easy, there's always NG+
I'm also new to the souls like style games and I am completely hooked. I want to beat them all now they are definitely worth a play for anyone considering getting into them.
awesome Unpacking mention there. Amazing game. I'm currently on my 5th playthrough of Elden Ring and it is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. I'm not that great at games. I really have to grind to level up and beat the bosses, as well as a lot of other regular enemies. But this game is designed so well, it is immersive, it allows for player choice in exploration, there is little in the way of limits, and it's just mysterious and weird high fantasy. I highly recommend. Look up some fun builds!
Excellent newcomer analysis of Elden Ring. I’ve tried to get many friends to play it and the ones who were like you and pushed through the learning curve absolutely loved it. The ones who didn’t just complained about it having “bad game design” and it being “bullshit difficulty”. From Software games definitely aren’t for everyone. I get that. They can be a lot to take in initially. Especially the older games where you didn’t have the option to walk away and just go a different route. I’m glad you stuck with it and are now a From Soft fan. I’d love to hear your take on Bloodborne or Sekiro. Even the Dark Souls games would make for an interesting analysis. Loved the video. Liked and subbed.
Ay im happy you decided to pick up the game, welcome aboard to what has become easily one of my favourite games ever! Edit: also, looking at how many attempts it took you do beat some of the bosses, you did way better than I did, hell, than I currently do. I’m on what’s probably like my 20th playthrough and Morgott still kicks my ass.
Hahah the crucible knight being an example of "hard but fair" is really funny. Yeah they block, and attack alot, but almost all of their moves are parryable! Once you find the timings, they're so much easier!
Wow you just got a subscriber. Great video. Seriously you completely described my experience with Elden Ring. It was my first fromsoft game and I almost uninstalled the first night (mainly because I wouldn't give up on killing tree sentinel 😂). Then godrick knight in the first camp followed by the Nightrider it wasn't a fun 4 hours. The next day I watched a few beginner videos and the next thing I knew it was 4 months later and I hadn't played another game besides Elden ring. Not only that but it was in my top 5 of all time and I was able to do a completely summon free run except for Malenia and Elden Beast(I spent days trying though 😂. In summation thank you for this and I will be looking forward to seeing future videos.
elden ring is definitely worthy of praise and it does a lot of things right, but it also does a lot of things wrong, i agree with your points for the most part, the open world is fabulous, the sense of freedom is immense, overcoming challenges feels awesome, weapon variety is bigger than ever before, spell overhauls make them basically meta which i am not mad about considering the things you are put up against. there are so many good qualities about elden ring, but as another reviewer put it, elden ring has very high, highs, but equally low, lows. 1. repeated content 2. enemy variety 3. its too big 4. the open world is not challenging (you can run away from any encounter and progressing through the open world is usually just a horse race) 5. enemy scaling 6. lack of information about the posture system and positioning strategies to optimise boss fights 7. item placement 8. summoning is unrefined, this is especially noticeable in boss fights i could keep going, you can clearly see the developers were strapped for time and couldn't bring the game to the level they wanted to. When i got to caelid and saw those weird dogs and birds i was like 'holy shit that's awesome, can't wait to slay those things,' but then i saw them reappear constantly. The rat model is from dark souls 3, and rather than introducing a new type of enemy into an area, they just throw in some rats with big health bars that do not really make sense. praising a game is one thing, but it's important to look at the things it doesn't do well so we can encourage the developers to not make the same mistakes. i recommend playing dark souls 3 as your next fromsoft game, ds3 is a very good game, it has certain problems such as boss run backs, a few gimmick bosses, some bosses have attacks that are hard to react to, etc, but aside from that, ds3 is really what elden ring should have been - except bigger and that is exactly what they tried to do, they tried to make ds3 bigger and better, but in my opinion, failed in the same many ways they succeeded, again, high highs, low lows.
in terms of repeated content i definately agree, it was kinda annoying finding a boss and thinking they were cool until they appeared 5 more times in the game heh
@@ash9259 There are repeated content in Elden ring but it has more way more enemy variety than most other open world games. Snowfield area in general is a poor area & you dont see the giant dogs repeated everywhere but just in Snowfield & Caelid
@@COHOFSohamSengupta this comment shows that elden ring players have no idea what enemy variety actually means. anyone can make a dummy enemy, slap a model and texture on it, give it a few moves and call it a day. Sure, it creates diversity, but that diversity sucks! Dark souls 3 demonstrates exactly how to create a diverse pool of enemies that present a real challenge. Go through the list yourself, look at each enemy and rate the encounter out of 10 on every quality: 1. Difficulty 2. Look 3. Satisfaction to beat 4. Replayability level Elden ring has nothing on dark souls, the majority of minor enemies are shit and have been egregiously copy and pasted through out the world. When you play enemy randomized mod, you realise how awful and pointless the majority of the mobs are.
Man i wish all the future souls like games will be open world, like i mean they're becoming far more gorgeous these days that the players wanting more to explore over and over again.

Go through the list yourself, look at each enemy and rate the encounter out of 10 on every quality:
1. Difficulty
2. Look
3. Satisfaction to beat
4. Replayability level
Elden ring has nothing on dark souls, the majority of minor enemies are shit and have been egregiously copy and pasted through out the world. When you play enemy randomized mod, you realise how awful and pointless the majority of the mobs are.
